Edit: ok community, with the article and video from gameinformer i am becoming even more hyped and hopefuk for the taken king.
Cutscenes, more interactions with characters, dinklebot being replaced by nolan north (we need a new name, nolanbot?)
And, hopefully according to the article, a much more story driven way to play the game.
Firstly, day 1 beta ghost edition player and shield of heroes bearer. I love this game and want it to succeed (fanboy status out of the way)
The main problem with Destiny isn't necessarily the story; it's there, clear as day.
The problem is we don't care about the story and it's told far too vaguely and grimoire doesn't really supplement it properly.
We have 0 connection to the Traveler, Stranger, Speaker or even the people of the city we protect. The most character involvement we get is the Ghost and the Queen and there isn't much there (except the Queen's booty).
My point is, with TTK, we need more than 'Oryx is coming for vengeance and he's being a dick to the Cabal- that annoying race u hate'
We need to have actual story driven cinematics that communicate to us that Oryx is a huge douche and we need to get emotionally driven to kill this guy rather than: 'go kill him cuz game, pew pew'.
Thoughts, Guardians?
Please keep it civil, respectful and thoughtful.
Edit: some great hate here from users:
Hes behind 2.0 nerf
Hes behind TTK bundles and UK pricing
He took all the redbull and got wings
Edit: ok so there will be cutscenes, but the content needs to bring out the feels and not just be 'oryx brooding, glowy hand'
Edit: ok so theres a good amount of guardians that feel self-defense is enough and thats fine, but some of us need more. We went to kill the Vex in self defense, but did we rly care while we did it? Or was it just 'lol! Pew pew, o... game over?'
Edit: 8/4/15 new gameinformer TTK article and video. GO GO GO!
Edit: ok, a lot of guardians r saying "we killed his son/ hes a bad guy / hes coming for us - isnt that enough??"
The answer is NO guardians. I understand full well the premise of the story in TTK , but is there a reason to rly care about whats going on?
If theres no emotion behind what we're doing then TTK will just be the same vague, stale mission based fighting that we've been doing for a year now. Its time for the game to take a step up and be more than "go here, pew pew, loot" and actually get us involved in this universe.

3 AntwortenOryx comes up and makes Gjallahorn taken. Then you can't use it.
-
He is the Father of Hives God. If that is not a bad thing, then what is. Also he is pissed for Urrox dying, his scion. Gone with his son.
-
3 AntwortenWe killed Crota, and Oryx is his father. Hes mad at us, so its either we kill him or he kills us. Hes raising an army! Its supposed to be that we stop it before it starts. We cant just let him raise an army can we?
-
1 AntwortenThats pretty much it. Its why I felt Reach was so damn good, and the best of the series for me. Its the feels. This? This is the grind...
-
1 AntwortenI 100 hunna percent agree

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von C-Sentinel: 8/3/2015 7:21:52 PMNot related to Oryx, but it would be nice if we could se a cutscene of the fallen during twilight gap, overunning the city and killing the civilians. It would give people a reason to WANT to just go into patrol and kick some ass

5 AntwortenI'd rather have multiple raids than 1 raid with a good story. But chances are, I'll get niether.
-
1 AntwortenAre you and others not going to buy it/throw money at the screen because of the lack of effort put into the story? No. Bungie doesn't give a damn.
-
6 AntwortenOryx is coming to kill you and everyone you know. That's not enough?
-
1 AntwortenI agree with what you are saying entirely. Part of the reason why I played so much Vault of Glass was because I wanted to believe there was more there to be seen. I wanted to believe that we were looking for Kabr or his ghost, or some sort of remnant of the guardians who fought there. Same with Crota's end, I wanted to see some sort of cutscene explaining more about Eris and what her team went through, to somewhat make you feel like you had a purpose in what you are doing. The PVE lore is there but the in game cutscenes don't support anything. It isn't enough to simply fight Oryx out of self defense, like every other enemy in the game. I want to see a cutscene of Oryx expressing the hate he feels after losing his son, and the rage he has against the Guardians. I don't want another mindless boss battle with no dialogue, I want a boss who scares me, one that lets me know that he is a badass, either through some sort of dialogue or a cutscene. Oryx seems like the most intimidating enemy in Destiny yet, I would love it if he had some character to him rather than just spawning into the battle with no words and letting us Gjallarhorn him.

1 AntwortenI dont think we need a reason to hate him. Just a reason to fight in general. If bungie could give us more insight to this city, to these people we are protecting it would be better. They could actually do this without amy story telling! What do I mean? Imagine id the social space was in the city, and you had people and kids running around, and depending on your vanguard reputation youd have kids asking for your signature, people randomly giving you glimmer or a mote of light, signs of appreciation because of what you do. To have a connection with the people, to want to protect them, even though we may not see everyone, to see them be grateful and love us for the sacrifices we may make. That would be awesome. Youd have that connection, that need and desire to want to see this last city become more. If we had that, we'd have all the drving force to protect the city. Whether it is crota, atheon, or oryx. The fact that we are in the tower, always makes it seem that guardians are pretentious pricks with little to mo care for these people.

3 AntwortenHe is coming to take our guns, re elect Obama, make Hillary Clinton lie even more, make Trump's hair even shittier, burn our confederate flags, make us use a rainbow pic on Facebook, he is holding a sign that says #hivelivesmatter, while stomping on the American Flag after he uploaded his twerking vid on YouTube, while imitating "Bat Dad" and holding an Isis registration card. Screw that guy. I think I just hit everyone's news feed on Facebook. That about covers it..
-
2 AntwortenHe stole my wallet.
-
3 AntwortenHe put baby in the corner!!!
-
4 AntwortenHe's the taken king who hath taketh your wallet
-
2 AntwortenI agree. Him wanting to kill you isn't really enough. I mean, a level 2 Dreg in the Cosmodrome will try and kill me, and it isn't particularly satisfying when I kill him back. But if that Dreg had screwed my mother, well...
-
2 AntwortenOryx is the reason we can't have more vault space.
do you feel the anger?
-
2 AntwortenHe's crota's father. Crota was behind the decline of auto rifles, Oryx raised a douche son who still cheats us till this day, Oryx secretly runs bungie.
-
5 AntwortenI'd be happy to just give my Guardian a damn name.
-
8 AntwortenIn all honesty he is one of the biggest forces of the darkness, he was almost solely to blame for the entire golden age to be destroyed, he wiped out all the people you used to know and has crippled our last chance at being in control of our destiny. Oryx must be killed for his eradication of the human race and earth. Hope that should be enough
-
1 AntwortenHe's invading my -blam!-ing airspace bro!
-
4 AntwortenWhat if he killed Zavala after the first mission because he sent the guardians to fight when the cabal sent out the distress signal. Or just killed a ton of guardians and people because the tower is a crucible map so I'm wondering what happened
-
3 Antworten
Firstly, day 1 beta ghost edition player and shield of heroes bearer. I love this game and want it to succeed (fanboy status out of the way)
, why do we need to know this, it's completely unrelated to the topic you discus ???

1 AntwortenHe destroys a segment of the wall and 35% of the population dies.

4 Antwortenhave him kill eris
