I think the Playstation exclusives are wrong.
Here's my thesis:
Exclusives within a video game (that do not exist as DLC) aren't okay. If everyone pays the same amount of money for a video game, everyone should get the same video game.
Provide me with a good counter argument as to why my argument and opinion aren't as good as yours.
Rule: This is all about opinions. Opinions, fundamentally, cannot be wrong.
So, imagine Walmart pays for an exclusive product. I want that product, but I regularly shop at Target. I can drive down to Walmart and buy that exclusive product.
However, say I play Playstation. I see that the Witcher 3 exclusive stuff is only on Xbox One. I want that stuff. I can't drive down to Xbox One and grab it. I have to pay 500 dollars so I can buy exclusive stuff. It doesn't make me want to switch, it makes me bitter at the gaming industries for thinking that this is okay and a good marketing strategy.
Nintendo does it all the time, and it nearly bit them in the butt. If, say Halo, is only on one console, 50% of gamers are going to have access to play it (let's skip PC here). It's going to be able to reach only 50% of a potential audience.
Did Playstation players pay more than Xbox players? No? Then, why should they be entitled to more stuff? This seems almost like internet age segregation, with one group of people being treated with priority over another, who have an equal right to priority. It almost seems... illegal, and immoral at the very least.
The only winners with exclusivity are the corporations. The developers don't win, and the gamers don't win.
This is my Ultimate Metaphor:
Say you play an RPG. Four classes: Ranger, Mage, Knight, Spoony Bard. You chose Mage. (Mage and Ranger equal Microsoft). You run a long side quest, like the Gauldr amulet in Skyrim. You get to the end and you get an awesome... sword, which only Paladin's and Bards (both Sony) can use. That sword is the exclusive content. You have it (Xbox editions have the content disclocked. That is a fact), but you can't use it. You could have used it, if, hundreds of hours ago you made a different choice, but you can't make that choice now. So, you'd be angry about that. Now imagine your time was money. You spent the same amount of money/time as Paladins and Bards, and you didn't get anything. You'd be mad in the game, and you'd call it robbery in real life.
That's what the exclusives are. A sword for paladins.

Your points seem solid. Literally only one group of gamers benefit in this situation. But alas dont blame the players, blame the people who bought the exclusive rights.

1 AntwortenI'm sorry you feel that way.

2 AntwortenSony paid a lot more money so their players could have exclusives, hell this game was marketed as a Playstation exclusive and then Microsoft hopped on the bandwagon for cash. Bungie didn't want to be constricted by Microsoft so they cut ties with them financialy and paired up with Activision to make Destiny and to top it off Microsoft wanted nothing to do with Destiny, like l said they hopped on the bandwago. Point is be happy you have the game on Xbox One or 360, secondly, Sony paid Bungie more let them havs their exclusives we'll get them later, and lastly, shut the -blam!- up man, it's a -blam!-ing video game oh boo -blam!-ing hoo you don't get some -blam!-ing pixels on your screen. What you want a -blam!-ing tissue or something? Get over it.
I'm on Xbox 360
1 AntwortenThe reason behind it is to try to get new players who are playing on an old console and have either played destiny already or think that it looks cool to choose their next console based on what has more content. It sucks but it makes both of the companies involved get more money.
but I have a ps4 so idgaf
Argument null and void with this simple sentence coming up
TIMED EXCLUSIVES, xbox will get them in a year
Business. Deal With it. OK GUYS ON TO THE NEXT WHINNY BITCHY POST!

1 AntwortenAnd you are getting these exclusives in september, so you paid the same money as us but got you're Hawkmoon etc. a little later

3 AntwortenThe exclusive weapons aren't really special. (Especially the Hawkmoon after the upcoming rebalance) My fulcrum is pretty much a Hawkmoon and doesn't take an exotic slot.

Technically you are getting it just later. Goodbye ~TheGreatNikeIsAFgt

Ps4 players didn't pay more but I suspect Sony paid a whole heap of cash, why ?. Well to shift consoles so people would choose it over xbone. It's business. Not sure fairness has anything to do with it. I've never owned an Xbox and therefore can't play halo. I know if I wanted to if have to get one as it's never coming to Ps

6 Antworten
im·mor·al i(m)ˈmôrəl/ adjective adjective: immoral not conforming to accepted standards of morality. "an immoral and unwinnable war"
I think your use of the word is Immoral. Using "big" words to make you look right? Pathetic. Get over yourself.

1 AntwortenSoo Xbox hasn't done this before?

It's a -blam!-ing video game. For -blam!-s sake. Who cares about shitty guns and strikes that will be exclusive for PS for another year? Grow up you -blam!-ing whiner. The whole community acts like they're entitled to everything just because their mommy bought them destiny. If you don't like it buy a PS4 and start over. That or shut your whiny ass mouth and grow the -blam!- up.

Your argument is flawed in that this is a *timed* exclusive, not an exclusive. Your other characters can use the "sword", just not right away. And while players on PlayStation didn't pay more for the game, Sony DID pay more so that their customers would have added incentive to buy their product. Your argument is unsound.

buy a playstation, problem solved.

Opinions can be wrong. Obviously. For example; it's my opinion that the sun won't rise tomorrow, or its my opinion that I am dead. And it's Microsoft you should have the grudge with. They let the exclusive happen.

Bearbeitet von Hawk: 7/27/2015 8:28:52 PMI think you are the first person to ever describe timed exclusives in a video game as immoral. Of all the atrocities that occur in this world that immoral would be a great place to start describing them, you pick virtual items in a video game. That's nearly as bad as the guy that tried to petition the White House to stop the gjallarhorn nerf. I'm not sure if I should laugh, cry, or send you contact information for a psychiatrist. Morality has nothing to do with exclusives in video games. It's just one platform trying to sell more copies of a game than their rivals. Business. This is not unique to Destiny, or even the game industry.

1 AntwortenWho gives a shit if playstation has a few guns extra? Get over it people grow up a little ok? -xbox player :)

Sony paid bungie money to make exclusives so people would buy a playstation It Is Simple
-
It's solid business practice Sony paid bungie and activi$ion to make exclusives so the ps4 is more appealing.
-
Easy this is my opinion, Sony paid the money for them and they get them that simple.....so not wrong.
-
Sony paid for it. Just means we (Xbox players) get a reason to keep coming back

I rather exclusive games then exclusive content. In reality is dosent matter what you want. Sony and Microsoft pay millions for these exclusive titles and content. Exclusive stuff makes games better, think about it like this. Xbox needed a racing game to compete with gran turismo. They made forza. without gran turismo pushing the bar and being exclusive, forza would not be as good as it is today.
