What's with all the crying? Here's a list of $40 items to compare. What will last longer, a Destiny expansion or some of the following items? Feel free to list your own comparisons. What can you do for 500-1000 hrs for less than $40 that doesn't cause chaffing???
$40 is equal to:
2 large pizzas
Half a tank of gas in my car
2 hrs at a bar
Dinner tab, for 1!
2 cases of beer
Half the cost of 1 months cable bill
1/8th of bud
I mean seriously, what's $40? Maybe these forums are overrun by kids with allowances, idk. What do you guys think?
Edited to reflect mainland US prices instead of Hawaii. For those of you that eat $5 hot n ready pizza, good for you. A quality pie will set you back $20
Edit 2: come on guys, 'cheap as chips' is just a saying. Nowhere on here do I claim that chips cost $40. Use your heads before you speak
Edit 3: a lot of you are concerned with my expenses for some reason. I have to use premium fuel in my car which is $4.19/gal with a 20 gal tank. Regular unleaded is $3.89/gal. Bud is expensive in Hawaii, idk what else to tell you about that. $5 hot n ready pizzas don't exist here, but if they did I wouldn't ever touch that garbage. You want a decent pie it's gonna run close to $20 give or take. For some reason this thread is focusing on food! Lol
Edit 4: for those of you in UK and AU I don't know what to tell you. I see all of your concerns here and I agree that they need to address this. It's a digital download that shouldn't require additional fees. Not to sound naive, but has anyone looked into it? Like is there something with your local government/department of taxation that is hitting you with a hefty fee???

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Wioti: 7/29/2015 9:39:02 PMIt's more the fact that in the UK we have to pay £40 which is equivalent to about $62. I'm not sure what the prices are in other non US countries, but that's a lot of money for a DLC, when we can get a whole game for about £45. Still, it's a great game and I will still get TTK, just wish the prices were the same everywhere.

Kinda have to agree. Living in London, just stepping out my front door cost money, so Destiny is a great way to keep my self busy for cheap. That said, so is making techno and house music in my home studio, and drawing/painting/model making... Luckily I enjoy all these things.

2 AntwortenWhen I spend 40$ at a bar I might get laid...... 40$ for two pizzas is a good deal 40$ to take it in the ass is not a good deal.....Its not about the money!

84 AntwortenBearbeitet von Coyote_x_Starrk: 7/26/2015 10:04:13 PMOnce again another moron seems to think its the act of spending the $40 thats the issue. It not about the money its about the principle behind the action. You imbeciles seem to just being willing to throw money at them without a second though towards what it is you are actually getting. BECUZ ITZ JUST $40 BRUH Yes its just $40 but did you ever stop and put your hamster wheel brain into drive to see whether or not its its actually WORTH $40 when compared to other GAMES that you can get for $40 at the moment? You idiots constantly compare it to things like food or going out to the movies when that has NOTHING to do with it. If you are gonna compare it to other things you can get for $40 then you should compare it to other GAMES you can get for $40. But you guys would never do that because then you would be forced to realize that its simply not worth it when compared that way.

I picked up destiny a month or two before the house of wolves was released. I purchased the season pass regardless of the things people said about the dark below dlc. Heres how I see it... What might of started as a project with good intentions towards the consumer/gamers swerved into a cycle of profit. It's not the price tag that's important in my personal opinion. The importance falls under the quality of the content that's being sold. I think bungie fails to realize or neglects the fact that if you provide the consumer with quality content that measure up to the standards of the price than there would be no beef with anyone and thus pushes and motivates both the gamer and the production to grow. Example: Borderlands 2 That game had so much content it kept you coming back. It was refreshing ur had personality it had an actual story and above else it had communication. People knew what they were getting when buying dlc even the add on characters kept you busy and entertained. Quantity isnt everything but anyone who remembers or even goes back now and replays the game can't argue that it had quality and thought in each dlc content given. Destiny is great from the start. Rng keeps us preoccupied and entertained. But most of us that still play destiny still play it for that reason alone. Whether it's to accomplish personal challenges like soloing a raid or going flawless in an activity or owning every exotic in the game those are our personal challenges not the games. TTK will reset those challenges. TTK will have you grinding again and the destiny cycle will repeat again. So...bungie... 40 bucks so I can continue the grinding expedition all over again? Im realistic 40 dollars is what it is not bitching about it but I can only hope that the content can measure up to it. It's sad that many people already have low expectations of it before release. It's not a secret that many have lost faith in it many mistakes have been made and there are no signs of it getting any better. Maybe this will get read by bungie or maybe shuffled under the carpet who really knows but those are my thoughts. Take it or leave it.

Technically with inflation, video games should cost around 100 dollars. (or something)

Sounds right - premium 93 on a 25 gallon tank @ $3.25 here in TX 2 hrs?!? Only if you're solo - buying a round with a few friends will run $20-30 and it goes quick! True for most places - unless I'm in the mood for Whataburger. About 1 1/2 for me - it's roughly $15 for a 12-pack of my current favorite. 1/3 of my satellite bill :-/ Not a smoker It's hilarious to read the responses on here over $40... Even more the whole "principle" aspect of it - if you don't like the game, company, publisher, etc. don't buy it!!! I like Destiny & am excited about TTK so I'll buy it as well - why be mad that I enjoy something you don't? LOL. *cheers*

Honestly if youre still playing destiny at this point repeating the same content week in and week out, id be surprised if you didnt spend the $40 on actually decent content compared to the $20 for each dlc that wasnt even worth the $20 either way. Complaing about $40 content you havent played yet ? Complain about how we all got ripped off with HoW and TDB. THOSE werent worth the money yet everyone got em either way. So how can you honestly talk like youre not gonna get TTK when deep down inside you know you are. Youre not mad because its $40. Youre mad because YOU HAVE TO SPEND $40. Because theres no way youre not gonna play it. Sorry but this guys got a point in my opinion. $40 isnt shit if youre a functioning member of society
-
Every single one of the things you listed will last longer than the new content in TTK.

Gas is expensive in Hawaii
-
1 Antworten£40 here in UK and like you said for hundreds hours of gameplay what is there to complain about??
-
70 in Australia and that is fkn expensive, basically like buying destiny again.
-
I agree with the DLC price and the price of 2 quality pizza pies. ::thumbs up::
-
2 AntwortenHoly shit your gas is expensive. Right now regular gas where I am is 2.33/gal
-
41 Antworten$40 isn't the issue... The mathematical value of $40 is the problem. Considering Fallout will be just $20 more and have hours of UNIQUE content, is the issue. Destiny has repetitive content, while other full $60 games have unique content that doesn't need a weekly reset and RNG to feed it's longevity. That will always be Destiny's problem, the money will never equal the unique value.

7 AntwortenI'll buy a disc copy from Game's pre owned section for about £20 two weeks after its released

1 AntwortenThe dollar amount is insignificant, I make that in an hour at work it's the way they do business that drives me nuts. I always just tell myself though that I wouldn't do anything different. They have a monopoly on the market right now, considered the best game out. People say they hate it yet still play. Lots of bitch whiners out there saying I quit blah blah as they are pulling out there credit card to buy the next expansion. Tldr it's not the price, it's how they do business

I think people are complaining about spending $40 on a game that would equate to the quality of a Hot & Ready, not so much about spending $40 in general.
because we all know the last two expansions were as bad as that cardboard crust pizza
That aside, to answer your question: When you have to pay high prices for everything else (gas, internet, rent, insurance, ect...) every extra dollar means that much more. Especially now that every company thinks if we are paying $15 for every other service, that we obviously can pay to subscribe to their service as well.
or at least that what the U.S. Government thinks since now I have to buy health insurance or a fee since they think we have soo much extra money
That hi-life is rough bro. At least the beach is free once you get there haha. Hmu if you're on the X1 bro. I've been looking for players in the same time zone to play this game with. Especially when TTK is out.
