I was walking through Wal-Mart yesterday and happened to see a family, half of which were on their phones. There was a small child with his own phone and another with her own. They both looked about 7-8 and I was in awe as I am 14 and have to wait until my birthday (Aug 19) to get one. Should kids under 13 own a phone?

I had one in Primary school. 'twas my brother's Nokia 3315, and all my classmates had Motorola RAZrs. Now I've upgraded to a RAZr and everybody else has a Smart phone. YEAH, WHO HAS THE UNCOOL PHONE NOW GUYS

4 AntwortenPhone? Yes. Smart phone? No.
-
1 AntwortenThe 25% that said yes are most likely 13 year olds on their iPhone 6 given to them by their parents
-
High school for smartphones. I got mine halfway through 9th grade
-
3 AntwortenPeople are really jealous that people got phones at a younger age :/
-
Id say only if they are involved with things like sports where they might need to contact their parents. Even then i say only a slidey phone
-
Not smartphone. I had a flip phone at 12, but I was home alone for a few hours, we didn't have a home phone, and my parents wanted to keep in touch with me.
-
I think entering 9th grade is a good time
-
Get em a flip phone so they have contact with family.
-
2 AntwortenI didn't get my first phone until high school.

Yeah, they should have a shit phone that can only call and text... If they're mature
-
I had a basic phone when I was 13
-
1 AntwortenIt would be shame if someone- oh- i don't know - NECROBUMPED
-
Only if their mature enough.
-
Yeah because it's doesn't really matter
-
Yes. But a basic phone.
-
I don't own a smartphone. I use a keypad phone. I really like it a lot

5 AntwortenSo many decisions here are biased and based on their own lives, it's ridiculous. The fact is that smartphones offer a lot of utility, exposure, and even educational value to children if used properly. As with anything that children do or use, it should be monitored, controlled and taught by the parents. If you're too lazy to teach your child, fine settle for the old school way. Don't blame technology for your inability to take advantage of its usefulness.
-
It's ok for them to have a Razor flip phone, not a -blam!-ing iPhone 6.
-
Depends on the circumstances. Smartphones, no, but if a kid walks to school or has to be alone a lot a phone can help ensure the kids safety
-
The only reason I got a phone is bc my mom didnt want to come outside to get me, and even then I got a flip phone then and I was 10. I got a iPhone 3G when i was 12 and when I turned 13 I got the 5.
-
Depends on their needs.

1 AntwortenThey shouldn't have smart phones. Only old Motorolas and old Nokias.
