If it wasn't for Activision stepping in with their money grubbing hands do you think destiny could have lived up to its full potential? I've done some looking into the concepts and ideas that were to be before Destiny was cut to shreds and it sounded amazing. I believe that Activision was just wanting their money and didn't care what had to be done to get the money. Anyone else agree?
Edit 1: Thanks for all the feedback everyone and shout out to Uzin Nith for the video (go watch it if you haven't). You'll have to excuse the guy calling everyone idiots. I don't put up with that crap on my posts. If you wanna talk crap and be a dick go somewhere else. Keep it coming you guys are awesome
Edit 2: Again if you're gonna come into my post and start calling people dumb, or idiots, or just talk trash you're gonna get muted. Go take your trash somewhere else
Edit 3: You guys really are awesome and brought up a lot of good points. A lot of stuff I had no clue about or needed further explanation and I got it here and really only had 2 people that were just dick headed flames. So I appriciate it. To those who asked for some more info and sources on the earlier concepts I'll try and get all the stuff I've found back out to you guys. Thank you everyone. Keep the flow Rollin. If you have some knowledge on the earlier content please post it here as I'd like to see it as well

Yes. No grey area. It's simply black and white. Yes. They could have

Bearbeitet von AristonSparta: 7/16/2015 4:51:51 AMAs the saying goes, "it's just business." Though why does this excuse Activision's corrupt behavior? Because not enough people are willing to stand up to bad business practices out of convenience Edit: you can thank Activision for that "T" rating. Worst choice ever... of all time.

5 AntwortenActivision is what brought destiny down. Destiny wasn't supposed to be released so soon. But Activision pushed the game cuts so they could get it out on the market. Activision killed what this game could have been. I still love the game, but the possibilities were endless before Activision.
-
3 AntwortenThey honestly should've worked with Bethesda, or Naughty Dog even. It would've been so much better.
-
2 AntwortenProbably not. Bungie is not stupid. They chose Activision because they are the ones besides EA and a very small FEW , that has ALOT of money they can afford to throw around. This game is huge and cost a little over $500 Million to make. Activision/bungie at the end of the day are businesses. And they need to make their money back eventually $500M's . Sheesh...

6 AntwortenYou all are idiots that don't understand how business works. Activision isn't just some parasite making money off of bungie. They're investing huge amounts of money into this game. Money that can be used to buy equipment and hire programmers. Activision is helping bungie make destiny the way Bungie wants, more or less

I knew this title was too good to be true for an Activision game. I still love it. But I know it could have been so much more.
-
First thing wrong with this game: Activision's name coming before Bungie's name in the opening cutscene...
-
It's hard to say because of the 500 million $. 500 million $ buys a lot of help with better programs and what ever else they need. Would destiny be this good without Activision's 500 million $ ? (They both suck ass a Corporation) 100$ for 1 game and 40$ for a DLC. It should have been 60$ including both DLC and 20$ for DLC (TTK)

I used to hate the fact that Bungie decided to work with Activision, until I decided to do my research into game dev. Balancing patches, fixes, the Destiny app and website, all of these require money, money which Bungie didn't have. If Bungie decided to publish the game by themselves, with no big publisher to give them money do you think we would have the patches and fixes we've been getting frequently? No of course not. I think Bungie is trying hard to make their dream game which everyone will enjoy, players right now are just being a tad (I hate to say this) entitled.
-
2 AntwortenActivision is the publisher, they have nothing to do with the game. That's Bungie's job.
-
Bungie would have easily made more money if they did it alone, for the single fact, it would only be aloud of xbox. Without Activision selling to Sony, there would be no PlayStation destiny and the xbox community would have blown up. Think about it. I am sure you know, just as I do, a few people who would do anything to play the "hot best game"at the time. A few of my friends even traded there ps3 in to get a Xbox because they seen bungie.

10 AntwortenBungie has complete creative control.

2 AntwortenIts kind of a yes and no situation. Without the money from Activision Destiny might not have gotten off the ground unless another major publisher stepped in. So while it sucks being overlorded by Activision its possible it wouldn't have happened without them. Here's my theory. 1. In order to rake in some form of regular cash flow they cut things down to be used as DLC at an orderly time (1 every 3 months) -Looking at their other games sort of hints they prefer constant cash model. CoD has a yearly release and Skylanders I believe also does multiple releases in addition to constantly adding new characters for toy sales. 2. They offered Sony and Microsoft exclusives for some extra cash, obviously Sony won (though possibly at the cost of Staten staying with Microsoft and taking claim to intellectual property i.e the original story/setup). 3. I believe Advanced Warfare wasn't getting the pre-order numbers they wanted so Instead of holding off they pushed Bungie for the release date and threw in the blacksmith shader to help AW. Maybe if another publisher stepped in it could have turned out better but who knows. Others might not have had the cash Bungie needed except maybe EA (microtransactions everywhere). Kind of reminds me of the Bayonetta 2 thing, console players were pissed to find out that the sequel was WiiU only unfortunately for them if it wasn't for Nintendo it wouldn't have happened (turned out to be a good game so to some it was probably worth it).

4 AntwortenNo, everyone overhyped it.
-
4 AntwortenI heard that (mind you, heard that) destiny would never have been able to launch if it weren't for Activision. Bungie was running out of money and Activision stepped in. Don't know if it's true.
-
4 AntwortenI like Destiny don't get me wrong I still play quite a bit and have made friends along the way but there is absolutely no way you can tell me this game wasn't disappointing. What was hyped and what was released was two completely separate products. This game is one of the main reasons as to why I do not pre-order anymore. Such a shame too as I really loved Bungie but everything changed when Joe Staten left and when they sold their soul to Activision.
-
I play Destiny alot and I'm still addicted to it now, being a day one. I was disappointed with the Dark Below because in my opinion, there wasn't enough new content. House Of Wolves I'm happier with because I enjoy Prison Of Elders. It's difficult to know how good or bad Destiny would've been with or without Activision. I just wish Bungie had full control over their products.
-
Activision gave bungie to make the game in the first place
-
2 AntwortenNope. Bungie is as complicit in this shit as anyone.
-
12 AntwortenActivision needed money for CoD advanced warfare, but bungie wasn't finished with destiny, so destiny was released earlier without as much content as they planned. Bungie made the game yet activision got most of the money they made, for advanced warfare. It also explains why the blacksmith shader is only available to get in one way... Preordering cod advanced warfare...
-
Lol no activision doesn't play as big of a roll everyone thinks it does. Bungie did this not activision. Maybe the game would be better if everyone didn't leave (one important person left but I forget his name) but after he left who ever took over turned destiny the other way around and it was all changed.
-
4 AntwortenMy biggest fear when I saw the name Activision as the publisher was that this game would become what it has. Yes, Bungie needed help with funding but Activision? Really Bungie what were you thinking? For those who say that Activision has no control over content just remember how much money they fronted for this "game" and also be aware that the company that helped develop it are owned by Activision/Blizzard
