Okay, so before you read anything else, if you're a hardcore Halo fanatic, you should probably leave, cause I'm going to say stuff that'll piss you off. If you are a Halo fanatic and decide to read ahead anyways, please recognize that this is my OPINION nothing more than an OPINION.
Are you gone?
Good!
Ever since its release, Halo 4 has gotten quite a lot of hate from the community, which I can't imagine why. The game looks amazing, it has a beautiful soundtrack, great gameplay and a fun campaign. Yes there are problems with it (i,e no playable elites, no campaign theatre, etc.) but that doesn't make it a bad game. I've spent hundreds of hours playing with my friends in creative custom games and competitive matchmaking, it's the only game I really play multiplayer in besides Battlefield.
So tell me, why does everyone hate on it so much?
Any hate comments or whatever will get a reply from me saying OPINION

YOU HAVE BEEN WAAAAAARNED
Edit 1: Wow, lots of replies, and such mixed feelings about it. "It's amazing" or "it's the worst Halo ever" it did this wrong, it did that right, all sorts of stuff.
I do like that there are some sensible people in the comments who actually know what they're talking about, and not just hating on H4 because everyone else is.

20 AntwortenBecause most people have standards.

2 AntwortenThe Soundtrack sucked. It was the same as any other average FPS ever. It had none of the Halo flair. Story was garbage. Spartan Ops was lame. Cortana was COMPLETELY RUINED. But otherwise it was quite good. Halo 4 was a bad Halo but a good FPS.

15 AntwortenBearbeitet von StiviX: 6/13/2015 6:26:54 PM-story was crap. -Spartans look like crap -The multiplayer maps were crap -They cut features -The new characters were, for the most part crap. They made a huge deal about Laskey and he was irrelevant the entire game -The existence of Sarah Palmer -The existence of Spartan IVs -EGGHEADS, EGGHEADS, EGGHEADS! -Halsey's character does a 180 personality wise -The unbelievable circumstances chief is in. I mean, the savior of the galaxy is found and tells you there's a threat to earth, but rather than follow through and help him you brush it off as nothing? It's like the human-covenant war didn't actually exist and earth had never been threatened or invaded before. Ever. -Multiplayer gameplay was crap. -Ordinance? Terrible idea. Halo isn't CoD. -The brilliance, and I mean complete and utter brilliance, of allowing us to spawn in with plasma grenades. Who ever thought that up is really the most brilliant person alive. -Spartan Ops. Crap. CRAP! -Generic sci fi music. Did not sound like Halo at all.

10 AntwortenBearbeitet von DjNormal: 6/12/2015 6:14:23 AMSimple answer. It's fanfic, the company that owns the rights to the game hired fans to keep the cash-cow full of milk after the creators left. In a way, that is actually kind of cool. In that Halo survived long enough for its fans to grow up to be developers. But also, given that they actively sought ideas on how to change and/or improve the Halo universe, they kind of invited disaster. Step 1 was fleshing out the history of the Halo universe. There was mystery, there were gaps that inspired speculation. Now there's a hard canon timeline that lays everything out. Anyway, just some thoughts. Lastly, if you're unwilling to hear anyone's "opinion" after you asked for it, why did you ask?

Hardcore Halo fans only care about the story and the lore. Those that hate Halo 4 are poser and not real fans that probably ignored the campaign. So far 343 did an amazing job on their first game especially being a Halo game. My only complain about the campaign was level design. I didn't personally enjoyed it. If I were to complain about MP, it would be the progression system. You progressed way faster than Halo 3 and Reach.
-
The Multiplayer is the main concern.
-
4 AntwortenCause derps like most on this thread can't get over the fact that games change. Seriously sprint should have been in 3. Honestly, halo 4 was the best single player halo. Period. And only falls to second place in multiplayer because reach was so good, Not to mention Spartan ops.
-
4 AntwortenI liked it. -They did a great job on their first Halo. -Gameplay was smooth. -Cutscenes were beautiful. -Levels were beautiful. -Story set forth the groundwork for the next Halo games. Basically, it was not a bad game, and it was not the worst Halo. Personally, I hated the first Halo. The missions dragged on forever through endless hallways that seemed like a torturous labyrinth on Legendary. Reach is my personal favorite btw.
-
3 AntwortenIt doesn't have the Bungie touch, not to mention the forge sucked, the multiplayer sucked.
-
I'm probably one of the most hardcore Halo nuts out there and I can say, with an honest to god look on my face, that I liked Halo 4. Minor gripes aside, it wasn't that bad.
-
Because it's not halo 2.
People hate change.
Honestly I love halo 4, and halo 5 looks great too.
-
4 AntwortenHalo 3 is the worst halo, the -blam!-?
-
I'm a big Halo fan, and I liked Halo 4 alot, and am very excited for 5.
-
7 AntwortenBetter than halo 3, that game was a mess story telling wise.
-
It was more call of duty than halo because of the automatic sprint and load outs unlike all the other halos
-
1 AntwortenHonestly it's because Cortana was the closest some desperate people will ever have to getting a hot girlfriend. Kill her off and BOOM! Community turns. It's a crap response, I thought it was a really well done story and I liked it more than Reach, not as much as 3 though. Any fan knew Cortana was going to start going crazy soon.
Halo fans should try Tinder instead of crying about a video game AI
-
Simple. 343...
-
1 AntwortenPersonally, I just didn't like the story line. The melodramatic soap opera scenes of Cortana suddenly having human emotions and the affectionate love growing between her and Master chief made me gag. Maybe I just wasn't expecting it. They should save all the drama for the books and focus on action in the games. I generally try to not take game stories seriously, but sometimes I'm unsuccessful. Multiplayer was great though, I had a lot of fun playing Big Team battles. The Spartan Ops missions got tiresome after awhile. There should have been Firefight matches too. Thank you for creating this thread. I've wanted to whine my useless opinions about Halo 4 for awhile.

Bearbeitet von Kathetos: 6/16/2015 1:15:57 PMAnd people like this make me so HAPPY H4 flopped. Good day. #Opinion
#Fact
Most people hated the multiplayer,I didn't like that aspect either.Unlike other halos,I start to get bored after 2 matches.Back in 3 and reach,I played way more and would wake up the next day thinking,"man, lets play halo!" Well,I don't think there was anything wrong with the MP(another killer for me is insane lag in my location sometimes),but I guess it wasn't as fun for me compared to other halos. I am looking forward to halo 5's MP tho,but I'll wait to see what various forums have to say about it after 1-2 weeks post-release before buying.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von CorruptedEwok: 6/14/2015 10:34:19 PMI found H4 to be the worst in the franchise, mainly because of it's CoD copying MP. With all the pre-launch hype about how Halo was "going back to its roots", I interperated that as meaing all the gimmicky crap that was introduced in Reach was going out the window and returning to a more competitive style of gameplay.Instead we were greeted by Infinity Slayer. A game that had more in common with an action sack game type than something designed to measure talent. The gross levels of bullet magnetism made it so that generally the guy who started shooting first would win. The absence of descoping also hurt the gameplay as sitting in scope staring at a corner became far too effective. The campaign was also a let down. I played every Halo to the point where I could nearly draw you a map, but I never read the books. Who the hell is the Diadact? I never did find out. Some kind of naughty forerunner as best I can tell? I'm sure it all made perfect sense if you were a Haloverse knowledge buff, but for the most of us it was a clumsy effort at best. If you have to leave the game to understand the plot, then your campaign isn't doing its job. Halo 4s campaign was bad for the same reason that Destiny's was bad. The gameplay its self was fine, but as a story mode? ... No. It was an incredibly pretty game though. But that's really the only area in which it wasn't the weakest in the series.

They killed cortana, I didn't really mind Cod-esque multiplayer, apparently The covenant doesn't tell the same, Mainly the elites
-
People hated it because it was different. After the shocking news that the next Halo wouldn't be made by Bungie, community got suspicious and prepared to,pounce if they saw the slightest hint of something they didn't like. Halo 4 was the most different of the Halos to date, but it was by no means a bad game. It just wasn't what some people were hoping for and it had some issues and differences that turned people off.
-
People hate it because of the loadouts, sprinting and the fact that Masterchief has more lines in this ONE GAME than the entire Halo franchise PUT TOGETHER. Still on of my favourite Halo games. SAW ftw!
-
I loved halo 4
-
It was 343's first Halo game, and I think they did a good job. I think that with Halo 5 they have fixed their mistakes. It is very competitive and very cool. I like how it looks and plays. (I did play Halo5's Beta.)
