Okay, so before you read anything else, if you're a hardcore Halo fanatic, you should probably leave, cause I'm going to say stuff that'll piss you off. If you are a Halo fanatic and decide to read ahead anyways, please recognize that this is my OPINION nothing more than an OPINION.
Are you gone?
Good!
Ever since its release, Halo 4 has gotten quite a lot of hate from the community, which I can't imagine why. The game looks amazing, it has a beautiful soundtrack, great gameplay and a fun campaign. Yes there are problems with it (i,e no playable elites, no campaign theatre, etc.) but that doesn't make it a bad game. I've spent hundreds of hours playing with my friends in creative custom games and competitive matchmaking, it's the only game I really play multiplayer in besides Battlefield.
So tell me, why does everyone hate on it so much?
Any hate comments or whatever will get a reply from me saying OPINION

YOU HAVE BEEN WAAAAAARNED
Edit 1: Wow, lots of replies, and such mixed feelings about it. "It's amazing" or "it's the worst Halo ever" it did this wrong, it did that right, all sorts of stuff.
I do like that there are some sensible people in the comments who actually know what they're talking about, and not just hating on H4 because everyone else is.

Well, let me start this off with saying I am a hardcore Halo fanatic and the Halo franchise is my overall favorite game series. Halo 4 is an amazing game. The graphics were top notch and possibly some of the best possible graphics on Xbox 360, the gameplay was nice, story was good, AI was extremely challenging. But it wasn't Halo. I think that's where a lot of the hate is coming from. Majority of the hate most likely comes from the hardcore Halo fans. The campaign was a great campaign, nice graphics, cutscenes, etc. but it just didn't feel like a true Halo campaign. It didn't do justice to the series. 343 Industries is making it their own. Multiplayer also drastically changed. Yes, it kept a lot of the original elements, but they also changed it a lot to where it didn't feel like Halo anymore. The whole reason Halo 5: Guardians' DLC is ALL going to be free is because they screwed up with multiplayer on Halo 4. Halo 4's multiplayer playerbase drastically declined pretty quickly after the release of the game (I remember seeing some statistics, idk where or if they were accurate, but I honestly think they are). The multiplayer had the lowest continuing playerbase out of any Halo game released. I loved the Halo games, and I even thought 4 was a great game, but 343i took it far from its roots, and that's why it has received a lot of hate. One specific annoyance I had were the Prometheans. The new race seemed stupid, and had never even been heard of before. They didn't really fit into any of the lore or universe, they were just randomly added and thrown in. It just didn't feel like the "Halo" that we had grown with and loved for years.

6 AntwortenWrong, Halo reach is the worst halo.
-
You said beautiful soundtrack for something good about the game. Yes, I agree with you about that. The music it quite beautiful. However, that's not the reason people hated Halo for its music. There is a big difference between a beautiful soundtrack, and a memorable one.

1 AntwortenWhen Cortana got all life size and touched chief. After that she says "I've always wanted to do that" that right there ruined the entire series for me. Just awful
-
In my opinion it was a very good game and I liked it the graphics were really good, the multiplayer had some really fun game modes, and the story was ok not the best and it was somewhat like a chore but other than that it was good

3 AntwortenYou can get $0.55 on trade in at game stop.

I have no idea why its regarded to be the worst Halo because its story was good and its multiplayer was really cool

30 AntwortenBearbeitet von SpaceDandy: 7/10/2015 6:43:32 PMThe frame rates drop like I'm running DayZ maxed on a 2001 toshiba. The graphics might look better, which they absolutely don't (aliasing, do you have eyes?), but it's like nobody has heard of optimization. One grenade goes off and you're down to 3-5 FPS. Oh, and their forge improvements were amazing, but light generation times killed it, and various factors somehow sapped the game of the fun... Ever try to play custom lobbies in H4? It's God awful. Edit: Let's not forget the terrible net-code... Online experience was 9 times out of 10 disconnect/reconnect in a game, and co-op was unplayable. Just such a shit game, it makes me cringe. Campaign was good, though. Oh, except for the cookie-cutter good guy/bad guy military characters... My god, Rio was such a -blam!-ing JOKE. Nobody like that ends up at the helm of the largest -blam!-ing military ship to date. So stupid. OH, and what about that worthless final mission that could have been such a badass boss fight like H2, but ended up being a stupid cut scene LOL.

Spawning with plasma pistols and sticky grenades made using vehicles in bigger maps absolutely useless. Vehicles were already underpowered unless you used the perks. Camo was way overpowered, especially with the added perks. The map designs weren't as good or memorable as other Halo games. Ordnance drop game types were unbalanced. I get needler 5 times in a row while the other team gets incins and binaries? No thanks. They should have used Reach's hit indicator, too. Never know where I'm getting hit from in 3 or 4. That's all I remember. I do like the gunplay though. Loved lightning flag before they expanded the playlist too much and it never came up. Fiesta was fun as well.

It's my second favorite Halo game.... Right behind Halo 2. Don't get me wrong 3 and 1 were both amazing but there was something special about those two.

Loved it. I think 343 should be respected for taking such a massive game franchise and honoring it with a game that lives up to the hype. I feel the promethean knights were a little overpowered though. But the spartan ops and assasinations man! Pfoee so good. Loved it.

It has the had the best story. But the MP wasn't up to par Only 1/2 of it was good essentially

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von SpiderMan Two: 7/11/2015 2:41:48 PMOk, I'm going to give you the run-down of why I do not like it. It is mostly just my opinion, but you did ask:
Why is Halo 4 the "worst Halo?"
So I'll do my best to answer. Campaign: I have always been a huge fan of Halo's campaign, so let's start here. Many have said that Halo 4's campaign was better than the previous ones, for various reasons, but most say that it is because it has a better story. Did it really have a "better story"? Not to me it didn't. Good stories have good characters to drive them. Halo 4's characters were annoying. John uncharacteristically talked more than usual, but it paled in comparison to how much Cortana droned on and on. You see, if you want your story to grip people, you need the audience to care about the characters involved. I did not care about Cortana. I did not care that she died. I did not care about their relationship. It was creepy, and over-done. And how about those supporting characters? They were some of the most cookie-cutter cliches I have ever seen. The old salty captain is a jerk because he's a jerk. He acts in a way that no rational person would act, simply because the script says he must. Then there is Lasky and Palmer. They are so stereotypical, that it is laughable. They are like little angels. The story gave me no reason to root for the good guys. They were the good guys because they were the good guys. That brings us, of course, to the antagonist, the Diadact. He's just as uninspired as the supporting characters. He is tall, and dark, and edgy, and boring as heck. The overall plot was decent, I suppose. It didn't really suck me in all that much though. I must say, too, the Halo 4 campaign looks terrible. The Forerunner structures look over-polished, and the Elites and Grunts look like ridiculous plump lizards. The Promethean enemies look impractical. But how does the campaign actually play out? Well, to me, it's extremely boring. The older games, especially Halo 3, were a blast to just load up a level and play it through for fun. Halo 4 felt like a chore. It was a drag to shoot the enemies, especially the Prometheans. The new weapons looked cute and shiny, but it didn't make up for the lackluster gameplay. And no duel-wielding to boot. Some of my peeves are: How impractical the Prometheans are; the excessive button pushing; the ability to sprint but only for a short distance; bloom; the lack of open space; and of course, the terrible sound effects. Seriously. Whoever did the sound effects should be fired. Same goes for Halo CE Anniversary. Everything is clickity clack, clackity click, click click bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt. So much clicking. And the Warthogs, too. They sound like they're in the wrong gear or something. Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, Wow, nitpick much? My point is, none of these things by themselves make the game bad, but when they are all combined, it starts to wear on you. For me, the Halo 4 campaign was not an enjoyable experience. I played it on Normal with my bro on split-screen the first run-through, then Legendary with two other people to get the multiplayer armor. Both times, after I was finished, I said, "I'm never playing that again." I did however, hope that maybe it would be more fun if I just played by myself. So I played it one last time by myself, and immediately regretted the waste of time. It was not fun. It was unoriginal, and a chore to beat each level. Multiplayer: Halo 4's multiplayer is where it really shines as the worst Halo game. Very quickly, I realized that the only fun gamemode was SWAT, and even that wasn't very fun. Why? 1. Sprint. This one aspect completely ruins everything that Halo had going for it. It completely changes what once was an arena shooter into an ADHD fest where every player runs to the center of the map. 2. Ordnance. This was arguably an even worse addition than sprint, but I put it at #2 instead of #1 because at least it wasn't in every single gamemode. Halo used to be about controlling choke points and controlling high ground. Ordnance changed everything. You could get the best weapons in the game by sitting in the spawn with a DMR. Camping was out the roof in Halo 4. 3. Loadouts. This was such a bad idea. I have no idea who authorized it. At least they settled the age-old argument of whether Halo or CoD was better by just flat out saying, "We're copying CoD, because it's clearly superior." Shut up, 343, CoD is not better than Halo. Those are the biggest reasons. Some others are: Weak vehicles (made even weaker by the fact that you could spawn with a plasma pistol) Bloom (again) Flinch Awful maps (especially the forge maps, the framerate on those got as low as 12-15 sometimes. eesh) Less grenades Armor abilities Perks (yet another CoD rip-off) And lastly, I think it is worth mentioning that the armor is ugly. Seriously ugly. Who designed those atrocities? Blech. Custom games and forge: Custom games and forge suffer from some of the same problems that plague online multiplayer, so I won't regurgitate them. There are, however some things that make forge an enormous headache. But first, while I'm here, let me tell you the few things that I do like about Halo 4's customs over Halo Reach. 1. New forge tools. Magnets is one of the biggest, those are really helpful when creating maps. Duplication is amazing as well. 2. Some new pieces are really neat. Pipes, dominion pieces, and some other stuff. 3. The railgun and sticky detonator make for some awesome minigames. I guess that's about it. They took a step forward in Halo 4, but then took two steps back. For example, they took away precision editing and the vanilla forge maps were puny. To be fair though, they did add Forge Island later, which was nice and roomy. Some have said that the dynamic lighting was a neat feature, and that the detailed pieces are too; and I used to think the same thing. Soon I realized, however, that Halo 4's forge has serious framerate issues, and those cute graphical "enhancements" do not help. Then of course, there are the problems with custom games themselves. The biggest problem, of course, is the lack of game options. Infection was removed, and replaced with Flood, which means that a lot of great classics were instantly out of the question. You could not remove sprint, which was frustrating. Custom powerups were gone. The list goes on and on. There were just less options. Also, a side effect of loadouts and ordnance made every weapon less situational, and less varied. All weapons now fit into one of three categories: useless sidearm, primary, or insanely overpowered. Also, forge was unbelievably buggy. I lost no less than five maps I had made due to a save overwrite glitch. Spartan Ops: As a replacement for the excellent firefight, we got Spartan Ops. Spartan Ops was a joke. I never beat all the levels. I was bored out of my mind. You couldn't lose! And the dialogue was terrible. "Eggheadseggheadseggheadseggheadseggheadseggheads..." I knew that Palmer was an annoying character just from playing the campaign, but wow did I hate her guts in Spartan Ops. Her vendetta against Halsey was just ridiculous. Okay. That's all I have to say. You can post "That's just your opinion, man!" or "Holy wall of text, Batman!" or whatever you want. You did ask an honest question, though, and I answered as honestly as I could. It's all just my opinion. Oh, one last thing though. The soundtrack sucks.
-
It was the worst due to the forge maps not having as much freedom compared to Reach and 3. It was a step in the wrong direction. And then after I hit max rank on all of the specializations, I had nothing making me want to play the multiplayer. (And spawning with plasma pistols ruined vehicle gameplay)
-
It's one of the best Halos.
-
Story is boring and easy. I just played it on legendary and i didn't want it to play again. The covenant appearence was so lame, they looked like reptiles and their armour was cheap. Also i hated the romance between master chief and cortana in all the campaign. Multiplayer was CoD, enough said...
-
Because it's the Rocky 5 movie of the series, and tommy gunn was a crap bad guy.
-
Because halo 4 is not halo reach
-
2 AntwortenCuz 343 breaks canoes that Bungie worked so hard to make.
-
Campaign was kinda trash, but the multiplayer was fun, so it kinda balances out to 'meh'.
-
I ask my self the same question it was a great game but for some reason I can't explain. it was my least favorite halo but a great game so I don't know

Bearbeitet von Sonic Roctopus: 7/10/2015 7:50:33 PMI don't understand it either. I had a fantastic time playing halo 4 and still do. It's only when you go on the forums do you find out it was supposedly a "terrible game". The main reason I believe people dislike it is because of the fact that it isn't halo 2/3. People love to hate remakes/continuations of the classics. I will say though that halo 5 looks very good so far. 343 needs to just expand on the ideas and concepts of halo, not create new ones.
