It's funny cause I look at games and look toward to graphics and cut scenes, But I remember when I was younger where I was the kid angrily smashing the skip button cause I didn't give a crap about the story? I just wanted to play the game and I was only allowed to play for 30 minutes a week so they wasted that precious time. Feel free to share your child hood gaming memories.
ps destiny would have been the greatest game for me as a kid because of the lack of cut scenes haha
Edit: it seems like games these days focus way to much on graphics now and not the actual game play which is leading to a lot of broken repetitive games. Not only that but new games come out less often because of this. I'm tired of broken games. Remember when there were no updates or patches? Developers had to get it right the first time. They were well tested back then.

12 AntwortenSkipping cutscenes, ah you kids and your luxuries. Try loading a game on a tape, on a machine with less memory than a watch. The good old days. 20 minutes of flashing lights and a crazy noise like a modem being tortured. Then you finally get to the game and its just one screen with a rotation of enemies, until you get to the boss, kill him, aaaaand...it just starts at the beginning again but everything is slightly faster. There is no end. There is no cutscene to skip. And the only thing to do in the 20 minute loading screen was to go somewhere else and have a cup of tea or something, otherwise the flashing would give you a seizure. I'm not sure where I'm going with this. I'm old and I forget stuff. Where am I?

2 AntwortenKingdom Hearts for Playstation 2 was the shit haha...I loved the cut scenes being a big Disney fan, especially when I was younger....I also loved the story for Final Fantasy X...I think the only cut scenes I would smash the button to skip was for fighting 1v1 games...waste of 10 seconds for each fighter to pose hahaha

Fell off some basketball bleachers at age 4 and hit my head on the way down. Taken to hospital. My parents told me if I was still and didn't cry while they stitched up my head they'd buy me Donkey Kong on Atari 2600. You better believe I sucked it up and sat still and quiet. I was jumping barrels and swinging a mallet later that night.

All i kept thinking about when reading this was ocarina of time. I STILL play this game and do everything in it everynow and then. The replay value is incredible. Along with a link to the past. But boy are you right dude, i was born in 88 and some of my earliest memories are playing mike tysons punchout and getting my ass whooped and loving it. Then playing every single mega man game, beating everyboss, then begging my mom to let me rent it again next weekend. OG games ruled.

3 AntwortenFound a webpage where I could play Bomberman 2 (SNES) without a download (as well as hundreds of other SNES games) and decided to give it a blast. Managed to finish the story mode while at work in about an hour but I can remember spending hours upon hours playing this game as a kid.

Old games where they couldn't patch the game. The just released it and left it in the community's hands. They had to make sure the game was bug free and fully ready to be released. Unlike new games.
