I expect to see in the next patch weapon changes.....they need data not just people bitching. We have IB going on right now which will give them a bigger sample size than trials, and I don't mean that as a knock on trials at all. Just people who didn't get the dlc play as well. You also have trials at the same time as IB this week, plus the last 2 weeks of trials will give them great data to use. They are all part of the data set used but, trials and IB have to be weighted more than regular crucible considering they are more competitive. With competitive play, everyone is going to use the most effective, easy to use, powerful weapon(s) that kill quick. What gets me though, is where has all this thorn hate and overuse coming from recently? This shit has been this way since December 2nd. For the last 5 months (after IBs] barely a peep was said about thorn and it's 2 shot hs, 3 shot btk and ttk stats. This has gotta be coming from the Xmas/after Xmas/easter crew. Since the last IB the amount of players using and bitching about it is totally crazy, myself bitching now included. Didn't want to and never saw the problem until getting shot by 6 thorns repeatedly in every match the last 2 weeks and IB. With its fire rate it should not have the impact it does, nor range, nor that massive boost of stability if you choose that. It just needs to be rebalanced, and not an across the board blanket hc nerf. I can't go into an IB match without being stomped on as at least 5 enemy players are using it with a final rd sniper 75 percent of the games I got put in. Not to mention half my team using it as well. That doesnt include me until I end up switching to it so I have a chance. It sucks in the sense of being basically forced into using it if I want to survive and get kills. I love my other guns, and want to use them more than I have been. Up against teams with 3 or less Thorn users I can get away with using my other guns quite mm?? . That have beyond SomerThat's all you see is thorn trails every which way and the sound of it being fired. I'm by no means that great, but I'm also not as bad as my recent games have been. I also use Thorn and used it exclusively up until a month or so ago, when rng started giving me weapons with amazing perks on them pre-how. I don't want it beaten like Suros, PI, or the Vex, just rebalanced so it's still very good just not godly. That's all. Sorry for long post and rambling, just had a lot to say about the topic. Been quiet about it and didn't think there was an issue up until last night when I could not be put in a game where 6 people or more in lobby had it on. Couldn't move without being Thorn's from every direction. Which leads me to my final words that starts with this question: When multiple people are shooting you at you with Thorn, does the DoT reset every 1st bullet that hits you from different guardians, or stack, or can you get hit immediately after DoT wears off by another guardian ? It feel like it does and I die from 2 body shots from 2 different players.

I think the last word is more of a problem. And where did you get your statistics. I want to see all the weapons that were used

50% is an overstatement. Maybe 20-30% maybe you could claim 50% use hand cannons. I see alot of hawkmoon and tlw in trials as well as IB

I don't think it needs a nerf..they need to stop nerfing any gun that seems OP. If Suros (& others) were still viable options things would be different. If they Nerf HC's then it'll just be some other gun that ppl bitch about. This is coming from a guy that's not good at pvp too. Suck it up.

I don't think I've seen but a couple people use thorn in the Trials of Osniperis.

Or you could just get better. Take the time to admit that you can't counter the players that use it. Stop saying that this gun has too much power. You just aren't capable of being able to beat those who use it. Survival of the fittest they say and as we can see here, surely you are not fit to survive.

People use thorn because all the whining about others weapons has made them useless. You're not helping. I have a vault full of stuff I'd love to use again but until they are fixed, I'm going to use the best weapon I can get. Besides, it's not all about Pvp. Some of us want to play pve, but our best weapons are ruined now. Yes - I'm salty about the vex nerf.

The armory was dimly lit with over head spot lights which highlighted some of the more valued items I own. The call for war has come and I have been asked by the speaker to help some of my fellow guardians in a mission to retrieve relics. After donning my armor and other essential item I scan my vast collection of weapons and begin preparing the ones I have chosen for the mission. I hear you stir and my heart quickens for you have slumbered for weeks now. I approach you fearing your awakening to be false and am overjoyed to see your green eyes glowing. You inhabit an alcove were no light gathers but I can clearly see and feel you are awake. I stand over you looking down at your perfection and can not help but think of those who created you. “The Hive must of wept when you were forged.” I say. “Oh they did but you know this already.” You say. I nod once. “I hunger.” You say. “I know.” I reply. “Is there war?” You say. I can feel your hope. “Yes. There is always war.” I reply and hear you coo like a child. “I was preparing to go. Would you like to come with?” I say this as a joke knowing our bond is such that any war without you at my side is a cheap and meaningless thing. “Only if you think I could be useful.” You say. “Always.” I reply. The need to hold you is overwhelming and you know it. I begin to reach for you my hand trembles slightly not out of fear but of longing. You have been asleep for weeks now and that time alone has drained all the color from my world but now you wake and color drips in. For you I know it feels like no time has passed at all. You know only wake, war and nothing else except for hunger. You are hungry and now that you are awake so am I. I remove the armored glove from my right hand and stow it. I brush my fingertips across you and the breath catches in my throat as you purr. My fingers slowly rap themselves around you and the fit is flawless as if your were made just for me and me alone. “War...war now? You say and I almost laugh at the childlike way you sound yet knowing you are the most lethal thing in the universe. “Yes Thorn...” I say cradling you like a child. “war now.” My ship rattles as we enter the upper atmosphere and I ready myself to depart. You are on my waist in a holster made by me from the skins of your victims. The warmth you admit is bright but not uncomfortable. “Soon.” I apologize knowing the wait is torture for you. Conformation to drop in has come over my helmet communication link(com-link) and I feel your excitement and the warmth on my waist becomes a fevered burn as you know what I know. My ghost floats a few feet away in silence. Thorn is awake and my ghost knows to keep its distance and just do its job. My ghost begins the count down until teleportation to the planet surface. “5...4...3...2...1!” A flash of light and the feel of floating take over for a moment then passes. I see the other two guardians who will be my allies in this and nod to them both while trying not to let my eagerness show. As we listen to the Speakers instructions you are hidden from sight with just your handle showing. “Relic located.” We hear then I and the other two guardians disperse to triangulate our ghost to find the relic. We are alone finally and we hunger. I move through the abandoned buildings and open green-lands hoping to see the enemy. You Thorn have become an inferno on my waist and when I finally thought it to be to much I saw him. The enemy guardian had located the relic and was helping his team to salvage it. We are late I think while pulling you from your holster the white hot burn I feel is delicious. I take aim and line up a head shot you pull down. “no...”You plead.” A fiendish smile splits my face knowing you want to kill slow and enjoy it. “As you wish.” I whisper then fired. You sing and your sound is that of a broken bell in the house of false gods. The enemy guardian is hit in the leg as I wanted and he stumbles and I put two more shots into him. None of the shots are fatal nor were they meant to be. You and I sit in cover and the enemy guardian returns fire. I laugh and you laugh with me for we already know he is dead. We hear the guardian’s body drop and I can tell you fed well from the reduction of heat you emit. I send my ghost to scan the area and it shows no enemies present but as I begin to come out of the protection of my cover you pull me back just in time. The sniper just missed my head and clipped my shoulder you and I roll and come up shooting. All my years have taught me at extreme distances a hand cannon vs a sniper rifle is not a particularly smart move if you are the one with the hand cannon but you are no normal hand cannon... you... are.. THORN! I scream and you scream while we fire and the sniper falls dead. My ghost comes to see if I’m hurt and I swat it aside. “Good job ghost...” My distain plain. “I swear ghost you could not find water if you fell out of a boat.” My comm-link activates and one of the guardians on my team comes in a garbled rush. “Enemy... re.... relic.. dian down. We bolt moving as fast as we can without a speeder. My ghost unable to summon it adding to its list of failures. Coming over the rise I take in the scene immediately and see one of the two guardians I am allied with is down while the other is holding off three of the enemy while using the relic as cover. We come in firing and double tap the closest guardian and watch as she falls dead. No time for mercy I think and you chuckle. Another of the enemy turned hearing your killing song and hip fires a fusion rifle as I move to evade I am hit with a glancing blow but my ghost is shot out of the sky. Hitting the ground hard we are already firing and six rounds pepper the fusion rifle and its bearer but he is not dead... not yet. The last of the enemy tosses a grenade at my ally and unloads his auto rifle in my direction but we are in motion and although I felt some of his poorly aimed shot hit home we are determined and return fire in greater effect then watch as the last enemy guardian staggers then falls. I fall to my knees breathing hard as my wounds bleed but I will never let go of you. You are much colder now and that is bitter-sweet for me because I know you have almost had your fill for today. I rise making my way to the relic and trying to figure out were that useless ghost is at or has it simply been destroyed then shrugged not really caring. “Ah guardian you did well the relic is ours.” Says my ally who is badly wounded but alive. I nod. You have the barest hit of warmth to you now my sweet Thorn. “We need to get an extraction team here not to mention a medic for me I....” My ally trails off his eyes fixed on you then his eyes meet mine. “It can’t be... Yor’s gun!” I move my head in a slow denial. “No, It’s MINE!!!” I say and put two shots in his chest but when pulling the trigger for a third shot nothing happens. I look at you my dear Thorn and my heart sinks to see you for your eyes have darken to onyx pools and you are now ice cold in my warm grip. I know you are sleeping again and I know I will be less without you. My dimly lit armory was as I left it and I had returned all to its rightful place save for you my Thorn. I walked to the darken alcove with you cradled in my arms then reverently place you back on your Hive bone stand and looked at you for a long moment. “Good night sweet prince and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." Not mine, I take no credit.

Or you should just use it like everyone else because that's how you win

I'm just going to stat the fact that only people that put these kind of post doesn't have enough skills to overpower the thorn. I use a different gun and I smack people with it simple as that. Sorry to say that.

Really, the main problem with the thorn (from what I can gather) is the damage over time). Many people (at least when I play crucible or trials) get two head shots in and run away and let the damage over time kill me.
