I really don't understand?
You're usually watching a guy play a game that you have and he's doing things that you probably always do in that game.
I can sort of understand YouTube videos, but only the ones on games you want to know about and if they're doing something unique in a game that you probably couldn't do.
But streamers usually just sit there and play a game for 6 hours then do the same twice a day... I don't understand it. I see people donating to these guys 100$. Why are you giving him 100$ to play a video game? It's not like he's a game tester or anything like that.
Most streamers make a living off of it and that just makes me mad. All they're doing is playing a video game nonstop and can get pretty wealthy off of it.
I don't mean to sound negative, I'm just wondering because I've never had the appeal that others. I am confused about the 100$ donations though.
Edit: I'm talking most about people who pay these streamers? Why would you do that.

I don't watch destiny streamers, but I assume it's mainly for entertainment. Also, a lot of them are very good and give tips and do some challenging things, like doing crota solo and such. I could see some of that being fun to watch.

I'm in the same boat as you my man. It really blows my mind. I saw someone had donated 250$.... Like come on. You could have bought tons of drugs with that.. Haha jk
but really..
1 AntwortenWhy watch the super bowl if you have a football of your own?
-
For the same reason why people watch television or movies, it's a form of entertainment.
-
Wait... I already knew people watched these kind of things, which I dont get to begin with, but people actually send them money to sit and play and yammer on about nothing so they... can continue to watch them play and yammer? Which they could do for free? Why?

1 AntwortenWhy would you watch a sports game when you can go outside and play? It's entertainment and people have different tastes. Hell if people want to support these streamers for the content they put out, let them. It's not like it's your money.

I find it funny. Plus it gives me something to listen to when I'm playing destiny.

1 AntwortenI don't understand people who donate to a streamer but turn their noses up toward the homeless or charities.

3 AntwortenI always wondered the same. Who donates and why?
-
I don't think I'd donate, but I get watching. When I go to work, the first hour is very slow (I deliver pizza), so while I'm folding boxes, I watch someone play Crucible. It's fun to watch people that are more skilled than me. Watching raids/other vanguard stuff seems boring, though. There's nothing new or interesting there.

I watched Bromen help a little kid out because we auto booted him from his fireteam and it brought Bromen to tears when that squeaker said it was the best day of his life. That's why I watch streamers. You can get personality out of youtube, but you can't get viewer/streamer contact like you can with streaming.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Shelbi: 4/25/2015 7:43:32 PMMost Streamers do more than just play video games. They enteract with there chat, give back by doing giveaways, do charity work and donate alot of money, and give quality entertainment, etc.. And there taking a huge financial risk too because they depend on tips and sometimes the donator will do a charge back and when that happens they lose $20 of there own money. They put alot of money into there stream set up as well. This is just some of what they do. Hopefully this help you understand better.

3 AntwortenWhy do people watch Kardashians? Because it isninteresting.... games are great but people like the streamers more...

Why do people watch sports?

I have never donated but am on twitch(viewing) at least a few times a week. The internet is my tv basically. Sometimes I just get bored & feel like watching someone else play. Sometimes I just want to hangout & chat. And when a new game comes out that i'm interested in but don't have, I go on twitch to check it out. I know you are mostly asking why people donate, they enjoy the company of the streamer & have extra money that they don't mind donating to them
-
Because they are entertaining? People don't sub to streamers that don't say a word for hours on end. They sub to people that crack jokes and have an awesome time with their community. Or because they're extremely skilled at the game and everyone watches like O_O.

1 AntwortenYou know what's ridiculous? When people "donate" 1000 dollars.

I do it cuz I'm bored

Bearbeitet von Swiftlock: 4/25/2015 7:11:02 PMBecause people want to support their favorite entertainers. Not... really that difficult to understand.

welcome to the web 2.0 where people makes content and other people pays them. Some streamers are unique and brings something new to the game. I really enjoy watching Poshy (WTFisPoshy) and if I had money to spare I would pay him.

I watch streams for the commentary and on that point, I don't watch, I listen

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von jay p: 4/25/2015 7:27:28 PMIt's entertainment for some people. I agree with you, I do not understand the appeal. But of course there is a lot of entertainment that I don't understand or like, but there's a market. I don't watch any of the real housewives show, but lots of people do. But on a macro and on a micro level, this is the way entertainment will be going. HBO now, kickstarters, etc. As to the donations, why wouldn't you donate to entertainment you like? If you didn't, maybe the person wouldn't be able to continue doing it, and you would lose a form of entertainment you like. It makes sense if you value it to contribute financially.
