Breaking the game due to scaling armor
So for House of Wolves you dont need to even get the best armor to be level 34. You can use your VoG armor to hit level 34. To me thats breaking the game. Isn't the point of a new expansion to earn better gear?? I've played many mmo like games and mmo's and thats the whole point. They are dumbing down the game way to much by doing this.. Theres no point in probably doing the prison of elders if they are doing this.. Good job..

This would be bungies way of keeping our hard earned raid gear relevant instead of just offering higher gear for sale at tower vendors like they did wit TDB.

Well you'd have to get to a higher level to get the upgrade path I imagine, in which case upgrading the armour to lvl 34 capabilities is just a way for bungie to provide assortment in end game armour sets

Based on the video the final node to upgrade gear to the new level requires some sort of special material.

I'm sure the upgrade path for old gear requires running end game content. Chill out. Watch today's twitch reveal before judging. It starts in less than an hour.

You probably have to earn the new higher light level gear and infuse it with the old gear, that's just a guess and this post was posted before the twitch reveal

3 AntwortenYou are clearly not getting it. Chances are that the upgrade system will allow us to bump the armor to lvl33, not more. Just as the last Vanguard gear was a patch to get closer to 32, but not there yet. But let´s assume that you are right. Let´s assume that we can bump our VoG/Crota gear to 34. Let´s assume we can: - Actually choose how we look at top level, instead of being restricted to a certain set of looks - Actually choose our weapon/armor synergies and perks to get the best playstyle, instead of being restricted to whatever the top armor gives us. [b]HOW IS THAT A BAD THING?[/b] I honestly don´t get complainers like you. This is going to[b] let us tailor the game to our needs[/b] like never before, wehereas until now we had to roll with the top gear, regardless of the perks we wanted to use.

1 AntwortenThey are doing this because people were tired of having to wear the same gear as everyone else to hit max level. You still have to "earn" your gear, but now you can be your own legend with any piece of raid gear. I swear, Bungie does something right for once, and people say it "breaks the game".

How well do those "other games" keep old content relevant to end game players? The answer is most don't. What Bungie has done is introduce new content in the Prison of Elders and still keep raiding relevant by letting us use that gear to get to lvl 34. What Bungie has done is give everyone way more options for everything without dumbing down anything. Not sure where you are getting the dumbing down from. Plus, we wont know for another hour what exactly that process for upgrading is.

depends on what the upgrade path is like. If you can get to 34 without having to do new endgame content, yeah, I could see people getting their panties in a bunch over that. But we don't know yet. Soon.

I feel like the new light upgrade will require an item from HoW so you'll still need to do the activities, but you'll end up with more customization.

1 AntwortenYea because I'm sure you'll be able to upgrade it as soon as you log in after the HoW update. Dude, just wait until they tell us HOW we are going to be able to do this. They're streaming it today for crying out loud. I guarantee you'll need some kind of materials from Prison of Elders or something.

This is just speculation, and we'll know within the next couple of hours the upgrade path in which we will have to take to get better VOG gear, but I think we'll have to play the prison of elders to get upgrade material for previous DLC raid gear. That way they're still promoting you to play the end game content but you also have the incentive of being 34 in vog or crota gear.
