The way I see it there are a few reasons why not having a Raid and having a horde type mode will be for the better.
1. More Replayability
2. Less Linear
3. Legit PvE competition (who can get the highest level)
Edit: On the only picture of The Prison of Elders I have found a hive material on one of the walls. This could mean that there will be multiple races in the arena.

1 AntwortenIt's funny because tons of people are complaining big time about the new dlc not having a raid. But bungie could surprise us with something better than a raid. Really stoked about this dlc

Well who knows what the prison of elders will bring. It could be a fresh and fun game mode. Or it could just be basic horde mode. Which would be fine except pretty much every activity we do in the game is horde mode. Open doors and fight off waves of enemies with an occasional boss thrown in. Did I miss anything? The raids are a slight deviation with added mechanics, but its also all associated with wave after wave of enemies.

1 AntwortenI am very happy to have firefight mode over a raid. And there is a raid coming at a later sate, so the way I see it, it's a win/win. Maybe the firefight mode will be the only way to get the gear you need to hang in the raid. Meaning, no more quickly buying your way ahead. I'm not seeing a downside here.

I agree, but there are even more reasons i mentioned in a post a wile back, like not having to find randoms and keep them in line

The description for Prison of Elders, fresh from the datamine: "This combat arena pits brave Guardian Fireteams against the solar system's deadliest enemies. Not all who enter survive, but those who do earn glory… and the greatest treasures of the Reef." So yeah, HYPE!

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von EyelessKnight: 4/15/2015 12:48:19 AMOnce again, horde mode/firefight/et. all were pretty monotonous and were somewhat saved by the fact that they had different maps. A prime example of a highly addictive(for me, anyway) horde/objective mode is the co-op multiplayer included in Mass Effect 3. I played the living -blam!- out of that game mode. It's probably partly responsible for my love of destiny. I don't know who here has played it, but if you did enough to unlock any of the more fun character variants and weapons, you know what I'm talking about. It was fairly straightforward, 1-4 player matchmade(quick match), custom host/join public or private games. 10 waves of enemies with an (random)objective on waves 3, 6, and 10. With the "extraction" wave being the 11th. There ended up being 4 different enemy races to battle. Each was different and had its own unique enemy units with specific traits, strengths and weaknesses. In the almost impossible "platinum" difficulty, you could fight most or all of them at once. EA loves "battlepacks", so you unlocked your RNG gear buy purchasing and opening these magic boxes that contained access (or upgrades to) characters, weapons, and consumable items like ammo packs, medigel, etc. These could be purchased with in game credits(earned by completing games, with the major bonuses kicking in after objective rounds) or actual money, if you were so inclined. I never did that. Anyway, it was fun as hell and surprisingly addictive. I can see destiny having similar success with a similar mode... However. The same map every time will kill it quick. The same enemies every time will kill it quick. The lack of some kind of good loot(better than what I usually see from the crucible or roc strikes) will kill it quick. Destiny lets you change loadouts on the fly, so in general it will be inherently easier than ME3 MP. It'll probably be longer than a strike is now, shorter than a raid? That might start to overlap if we're talking Crota normal. Anyway, it's gonna book down to "is it fun?", "do we want to keep playing it several times?", and "does it give us neat stuff?". If the answer to all 3 is yes... Well, that'll be cool. Edit:as an afterthought, ME3's multiplayer classes/characters(each class had several different character variants with different abilities that you had to assign points to), while narrowly specialized in most cases, had some freaking amazing powers. Powers I'd hoped would be similar in destiny. They aren't. A melee and grenade ability and a super that can be slightly tweaked this way and that falls far short of the specialization ME3 had.

I look at it from the standpoint of Bungie being able to take a step back and reevaluate the raid creation process. VoG was awesome. Crota was very linear and, by most accounts, and easier experience. Take this time to recharge the raid batteries, then come out swinging with something innovative and engaging in September.

3 AntwortenI'm glad that their trying something new, but what's really bothering me is about how people are panicking about it.

Forbes has a good article on it. Give it a read.

1 AntwortenMaybe it will have challenge modes for different races and enemy types. Like hive melee challenge.

4 AntwortenBungie doesn't give us a raid but they make the purple ball in the tower have secret powers, so pathetic!

1 Antworten1. Hardly, sure its random but really its just "shoot aliens in the face" there's nothing to change that up. 2. You're right it's not linear, its worse it's immobile. 3. That's assuming there's not a "final round" and even then who seriously cares?
-
1 AntwortenIf this firefight like mode is good, and convinces more people to buy the DLC, this allows for more things to be added into destiny later. Like better raids, strikes, missions, and other items.
-
1 AntwortenSo to make up for their past bad decisions they are giving us even less this time?
-
1 AntwortenMust be a ps user. See we xbox folk played that game already. 3 of them in fact. Gears, ODST, and Reach. Guess what? Firefight and horde sucked major ass. Stand in this place and shoot shit. -blam!-ing really? How is this any different from the loot cave they did away with in the first month? Just to bring it back again as "end game content" I just don't get it. And I'm completely baffled as to why people are excited for this. I hope it's something completely different.

lol they have a diagram of time spent and the cruicble had less the 15% noone plays destiny pvp longer then 3 match's before they just get A.D.D
