Weapons and Armor Relevancy
I know there are many complaints about how to keep old raids, weapons, and armor relevant as we continue to add DLC to Destiny. Also, I’m sure Bungie may already have a plan in place to expand upon instead of overwrite old content. However, in the case that they do not, I’ve come up with an Idea that I’m looking for feedback on.
A lot of people still love their old fatebringers, Vision of Confluences, or just like the VoG gear better than Crota’s End. So, to ensure these awesome guns and armor don’t disappear, and to give people a reason to continue playing, I think Bungie should add the following:
Add new higher difficulties to the Raids that will allow you “re earn” the armor and weapons at the new max strength and light level.
- This will contribute to the replayability of the current raids, and give players more of a reason to do a complete raid instead of everyone trying to jump in on Atheon or other random checkpoints.
The catch with the new gear and weapons is they will now require an upgrade, similar to the one required to fully upgrade Murmur, that drops at different parts of the HoW raid (or newest raid). This upgrade, once acquired in the newest raid, would allow you to access the remainder of the weapon or armor perk tree on one item. In turn, allowing your weapon or Armor to reach the max potential possible.
- This would allow people to wear any raid gear they want and have the ability to reach the maximum level. Also, It would ensure that players have to play the new raid if they want their armor and burn-damage weapons from old raids maxed out.
- We don’t want people to push old raids they’ve done 1000 times to instantly reach the highest level.
Thoughts or criticisms?

First is vault space, yes I know we are getting a few more slots but if we keep all gear current space will be a huge issue. Second is raiding. Raid gear has perks on it that apply to the raid they were obtained in. The perks aren't necessary but they do help clear the raids quicker. This may cause a big problem with people using LFG sites to form raid groups. Going into a raid with randoms is tough enough as is, going in with people who aren't geared properly for that specific raid will makes things tougher. Out with the old in with the new is how these games work. I think keeping old gear current is a bit much but I would like it for weapons at least.
