The best explanation of what is good and bad about Destiny that I have seen so far is on the Financial Post review (yes. the Financial Post reviews videogames who knew?). I assume that if you are just downloading it you have read the reviews and know what you are getting into. The forum is a mixed bag, can get pretty toxic. If you don't have enough friends playing the game join a group or use the destiny lfg website or reddit r/fireteams. This game is fine level 1-20 solo but once the grind to 32 starts the social aspect of the game opens up. Oh and if you haven't got one already get a headset and mic. a) if it sucks you in you will be playing late at night and turning the volume down sucks because it sounds amazing. b) you will need to be able to tell people in the Archon priest nightfall "don't revive me now there is a blam-ing captain teabagging me from behind the rock....oh too late....back to orbit." Erm, what else? Gjallarhorn is not the be all and end all you can still play without it. Some legendaries outclass their equivalent exotics. Buying something from Xur is equally as valid as having it drop. The PVP elements of the exotic bounties aren't impossible don't lose heart (unless you are a PVP guru already which you may be). Time to kill in PVP is long compared to most games so accuracy is often what wins.....HEADSHOTS!! If you need help or advice check this or reddit /destinythegame and then filter out the inevitable "I don't play anymore the story sucks" "git gud scrub" etc. messages. Oh and read the grimoire, it doesn't quite make up for the minimal story but is great for context. Finally, better "the devil you know" than "the devil you don't". (the current Vanguard hand cannon TDYD is outclassed by it's predecessor TDYK! Start off with a hunter first, that way after you get the achievments for ranking it up and what not you'll still have 2 characters lefts to make that are better than hunters.

You may find videos about loot caves, they don't work. The forums cause cancer, stay away from them. Do your bounties every day to level up your subclasses, characters, and weapons(rare and higher quality weapons). Make three characters, [b][u]each a different class.[/u][/b] (One Titan, one Warlock, and one Hunter.) You will have much more fun when you are not locked to only one class. Trust me. Don't make three of the same class.
