That I am a conservative, libertarian, republican, or whatever other label you would like to put on me. My belief system gets such a bad rep by the progressive side of the spectrum and I want to make this point. All I want is small government. That is all. I want certain states to have pot legalized, some not, states should be able to decide what social issues are legal and illegal. I don't care about them (social issues) those should be left up to the majority of citizens in their respective part of the country. Not everybody thinks alike, why try to blanket everybody with a federal law? At least with 50 different states that gives citizens 50 different options to live in an area with their preferred principles and beliefs lawfully in place. Generally the people living in the same city, township, etcetera will have a similar belief set, GENERALLY. With countless different towns in 50 different states in about 4-5 different climates why should the same laws blanket the entire region? It doesn't make sense to me. Sorry, that is all.
the people representing me in the government do NOT represent what I believe in, I'm not a racist sexist homophobic patriarch like many believe.
1 AntwortenRealistically liberal or conservative ideologies could work if they weren't both heavily lobied by special interests groups. I think Congress needs term limits NOW.

I think all states should be given more autonomy and he more like independent countries that report to the American union.

I love all the collectivists ITT who cannot fathom life without an all powerful federal govt looming over their heads. It reminds me of the tories from the revolution, who couldn't fathom life without their king.

What does small government mean to you? What does it look like? Does it look like the $700 billion (55% of our budget) spent on Defense every year? Republicans, supplemented and backed by the Defense bureaucracy, have built up the military industrial complex to be the biggest waste of money we have ever seen. For the cost of that one $1.5 Trillion jet fighter that doesn't work (look it up) we could have bailed out every homeowner and prevented our last recession/housing bubble collapse.

I like this thread just because of the warning.

5 AntwortenWhat do you have to say about the Congressional Republicans who proposed a bill to cut Social Security and increase Defense spending? Also what do you have to say about Congressional Republicans blocking any and all types if healthcare reform? And lastly, what do you have to say about the many Congressional Republicans who have publicly admitted they are Theocrats?

This is so true. Decisions need to be in the hands of citizens and local governments.

States have proven they aren't responsible enough to treat their citizens fairly so the federal government has to step in. Do you also not like federal organizations like the FDA and EPA? They're the reason our food is safe and our water is clean.

1 Antworten
why try to blanket everybody with a federal law? Federal laws are needed. If we made every state basically autonomous, we might as well make every county autonomous too and break up into 3000 different countries. Making every state completely different in values would completely divide the nation.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von DukeOfStuffing: 3/20/2015 6:56:35 PMThis would be perfect, except a smaller government would lead to unregulated business. Seeing as how the people that are in charge of most of these businesses are psychopaths that are literally addicted to profit, and are usually fairly shortsighted, that's a horrible god damned idea. I'd love if the government left all the people alone, aside from those that commit violent acts against other humans, because they can't easily be rehabilitated, while keeping a lock down on corporate greed. Granted, the government does a lot of skeezy things with the business folk, but at least there are some established regulations that keep the people safe. Also, I'd like to mention that a lot of the social support systems we have, like the EBT benefits, are essential for a society that is losing it's reliance on human labor.
