Just finished playing some strikes from the Roc playlist and was amazed at the number of players cheesing certain sections.
Archon Priest
Players sniping from the cliff or on the ketch while clearing the 3 waves of vex.
Players sniping the boss from up on the cliff.
Nexus
Players staying up on the ledge or in the cheesing spot during the boss fight.
Phogoth
Players sniping from the shrieker room, never really being able to contribute seeing as how the rest of us have him aggro'd down the other end of the room.
Why do people do this? Is it laziness, or just old-fashioned scrubbery? Funnily enough, these players usually finished with less than half as many kills, yet were consistently awarded the best loot.
"Oh look, you got 33 kills, have a Mida Multi Tool".
"What's that, sir? You were dead most of the strike? Legendary Engram".
*Shakes fist at sky* "Curse you RNG! Curse you.

People that dont understand that it ruins the fun, will probably never understand. There is no actual point in this game of getting engrams or maxing out the marks to buy stuff. That gear does not make you a god in pvp and there is nothing more to do in pve. Play the strikes for fun, stop cheapening the experience.
-
I don't cheese strikes myself but I can see the reason on why people do it. Why make the strike more difficult for yourself when you can just cheese it and make it easier
-
9 AntwortenLaziness. We've all done the strikes, I'll be damned if I'm expected to do them "as expected" every single time.
-
I stay mobile for Nexus and Phogoth (and all other strikes), but do use the sniper spots for the priest. I don't see it as cheesing, it's just using a terrain advantage to provide sniper cover (and the priest gets sniper cover, so why shouldn't we?) All bets are off for nightfalls though. I find rushing to be a bigger problem when playing with randoms (eg. start shooting mobs in Iron Line during Valus, notice team mates have raced on ahead, have to run through very angry mobs to catch up. Annoying.)
-
Shrieker room has more spawns now, surprised people still use it.... The cliff in nexus? You mean up top? That needs 3 of those spawns IMO... But all the high points down below are cover spots that would be like them blocking off you going behind a pillar.

3 AntwortenYou don't understand the term "cheese."

It is pretty amazing how often people do this. I mean come on, It's level 26, and these people are 31-32. You can hide with your fist in the enemy's face as effectively as in the ceiling, or a rock 3 miles away. It also isn't strategy to do this -- it's level 26! You can't come close to the damage the rest of the team is doing on the front lines. Not even close. This is why their kills and assists are a fraction of everyone else when the strike is over. Even more amazing is when they die in their "safe zone" then go right back to it. Well, it wasn't for the bounty obviously... sooo... what? Lol If you do it for fun, fine, but it certainly can't be for function when pretending Roc is Nightfall.

4 AntwortenI always use the cheese spot in the nexus. Not because I can't handle the boss and adds from the ground, but because it cuts the time needed to kill him in half. The other two you mentioned I do not cheese because it takes longer usually.

Bearbeitet von ariath: 3/18/2015 6:39:42 AMI do it because: 1) It's faster. 2) It's safer. Archon Priest I have a black hammer. I shoot Archon priest in the head from the cliff. Archon Priest never moves, never fires, always staggered and he dies really, I mean REALLY fast. And ads don't bother me, don't mess with my aim. So it is faster and safer. Nexus I have a black hammer. I shoot Nexus in the head from the "cheesing spot". It's slightly above Nexus, so I can always hit his weak point. All I have to do is move slightly to not get hit by Nexus shots. Nexus dies REALLY fast. Ads don't bother me, don't mess with my aim. If my health is low i can just hide for a while and then continue to shoot. So it is faster and safer. Phogoth Sniping from the shrieker room can only be justified during nightfalls, because Phogoth can not be staggered. During Roc strikes - I agree - It's faster just to shoot his weak point with black hammer until he's dead. Also, it's rare when someone have more kills than me during ROC strikes.

8 AntwortenTwo warlocks, this post is invalid.

6 AntwortenI don't understand how shooting from a distance or a ledge is cheating? I do some of those and always end up with the most kills does it make a difference? I don't consider it cheating? Now going out of the map or glitching the game that makes sense to "cheesing"
-
You have never been a good sniping player have you. Me plus black hammer plus distance equals death to everything in sight it's not cheesing my friend it's tactical advantages
-
Are you upset about legendary engrams? More often than not, they're terrible.
-
3 AntwortenI agree on phogoth and nexus, but archon priest? I always snipe the adds from a distance too much trash down there to risk it, plus if everyone snipes it goes quickly too. I don't snipe the actual archon priest from the ledge though, however I do blackhammer until he dies

2 Antwortensome people play strategy instead of running into a room with their guns blazing..each has its advantages and disadvantages but i don't think you should bash them for not playing exactly like you. i mean i sometimes like to run into a room willy nilly and shoot everything that moves but i can also slow down and play more strategy and go for precision. it's destiny you should be used to it by now.

5 AntwortenTell me what 'cheese' means. It apparently means sniping from your perspective.
-
Might be trying to do the "xp/enemies/strike without dying" bounties and just playing it safe. We've all gotten cocky and been taken out by a stealth vandal at the 29/99/8995/boss on a sliver of health stage!
-
This post is all together just stupid
-
Sniping from a distance isn't cheesing...its a strategy sunshine.
-
I only agree with Phogoth, other than that, you are dumb
-
3 AntwortenIt's called "strategy." Just because you don't like it doesn't make it cheese. The cliff is there. Bungie put it there. It's safer than on the ground with all the ads. What kind of an asshole demands his teammates get into a strategically compromising position when there's a nice, cozy snipey cliff up there? You probably bitch when people want to use center strat on hard Crota. No one is impressed with your standards. This is a video game. It means nothing. Eat a Snickers.

Eh honestly Nexus is the only one I do. But that's because I don't need to wait for him to circle his shield down. Also depends on if I have the walking tall bounty or not.

6 AntwortenBearbeitet von Doktimus Prime: 3/18/2015 5:52:34 AMDude. I know right? I have been running a lot of strikes lately working on some grimoire stuff and Jesus, the amount of people cheesing Roc strikes is astounding. I have a few more for you to add to your list. Sepiks Standing in the entrance room taking potshots at Sepiks all the while causing Reaver Captains and Reaver Dregs to spawn. Omnigul People running to the back room thinking were all going to use the NF method of revive chains... Rockets McDickface People hiding under the ramp behind the boxes. It's a level 26 Strike people! Come on! They aren't difficult!
