How to instantly tell when someone doesn't have Gally:
"Gjallarhorn isn't that great. I'd rather use another exotic."
EDIT 1: Stop saying it's situational. What gun isn't? I never said I use mine for everything. This post was for the kids who knock it before trying it.
EDIT 2: I never said Gally was required for Crota either. If you use a legendary, congratulations. You can successfully aim a rocket launcher and pull the trigger. I personally despise the people who "require" Gjallarhorn for Crota.
EDIT 3: 800+ Replies! Keep 'em coming. Feel free to tell me my OPINION is wrong as well. I've grown accustomed to it due to these forums.

2 AntwortenThe problem is that there are so many threads on this forum saying how good/bad Gjallarhorn is, or the correct way to pronounce it, or how you'll get kicked from so and so's raid if you don't have it. People are so tired of hearing about Gjallarhorn one way or the other that they've unknowingly become "hipsters". It's not that Gjallarhorn isn't the best rocket launcher (it is), and it's not like it's absolutely required to do HM Crota (it isn't, but it does make it easier). It's just that, apparently, it's not "cool" anymore to like it. That's why you have so many people saying "it's overrated" or "it's not really that great". Even the people that do have it are saying it (although I think there are a lot of people that don't have it who say that in an unsuccessful attempt to console themselves). TL;DR: I hate hipsters

4 AntwortenI don't have one. I'd like one, but I sure as hell don't need one. Outside of Crota and strike bosses I wouldn't really use it. Ice Breaker though...there's a sexy weapon.

i dont have it but have all but three exotics(ghally included) and it doesnt matter much to me id hope to get all three that i dont have just to complete the set of exotics but i use HoC for crota seems to work fine ive downed him in two hunger rockets many times but have witnessed ghally used on crota and its definitely stronger

1 AntwortenI'd be more concerned with getting it if I didn't already have Thunderlord. To me, machine guns are more fun to use than rocket launchers so if I got both I'd probably still use Thunderlord instead. Friends of mine with Gjallahorn are always like: "It's sooo great!" and I'm just like: "I'm good with using this, though" as Thunderlord speeds up, mowing down enemies who explode in an Arc firefly effect.

6 AntwortenIf I get it, believe I'll use it. But don't think for a second that I'll use it anywhere else but crota. That would be it. Then, after crota, into the vault it goes.

I have HOC & Gally. I use my HOC for everything except Crota. Gally hits just that much harder on Crota.

I say that and I have had 7 of them. It's 100% situational. It's overkill for everything accept for bosses in PvE, and is just as good as ANY other tracking launcher in PvP. The exotic slot is much better used in the Special or Primary position for both aspects of the game, unless you're fighting a boss. Then it's without equal.

6 AntwortenIt isn't that great. Thunderlord > I have every exotic except Hard Light (GOD DAMMIT WHY WONT YOU DROP) I only use Gjallarhorn for Crota and solar burn. Unless everyone on your team has Gjallarhorn, it is pretty ordinary.

My friend gjAllanhorn doesnt have one and claims he got one and dismantled it already and has the grimoire but he obviously typed in the code.lol if youre reading this Allan you know its true

I actually took on Crota hard mode with a group with a legendary rocket launcher and did just fine. It was my first time running it and I died less than the veterans that were in the group.

Funny, I've had a ghorn since the third week of this game and I end up saying that a lot, I find myself using it more for fun doing bounties/strikes than anything else. Don't misunderstand though, it is an amazing weapon, just not necessary for a single thing in this game contrary to what some people would have you believe.

The only time I use it is when I face Crota while I'm not the sword barrier
