Red Death Was Just A Test
Bungie released Red Death Today in Xur's category of weapons, which has the forums now in riot. However, I think there is something greater going on. I think this was simply a test by Bungie to see how Players would react to something OP, such as Gally or in this case Red Death, be sold. They are looking to how the community reacts, and how they should tend to Xur's inventory in the future. They want to see what happens to PvP, if everyone has access to a good weapon. Performing this on PvE would devastate, so they are doing a small test to see what happens.
[b]EDIT[/b] Wow, I'm quite surprised on this post, never expected it to grow big. Now I guess I should rephrase my saying about Red Death and it being OP. What I'm saying here, is that Bungie knows this weapon would cause a small group of distaste by some players by reasons differing between them (Xurn, Too OP, Ruins Crucible, etc.). They had their chance to put in an unsuspecting weapon, and they took it to see playyer reaction (According to my Theory), and take note of what would happen in result. It is a great weapon for PvP and in some cases ruins the experience of PvP for some.

Honestly, I think Bungie is trying the phase out the stronger Gen 1 weapons for weaker damage ones. Ice Breaker seems to lack the same punch it had at first against Devil Walkers. Could just be in my head, but seems weaker. I posted a while back that I have a feeling the the pulse rifle buff was not only to strengthen them but also provide and create the excuse, PvP crying, to nerf Red Death. Same as what happened with the Suros. Granded most of the overhype was from crying, but Bungie I think intentionally kept running the AR headshot bounty to inflate AR, and Suros, use as excuse to nerf to respond to crying players. They could have adjusted that bounty at any time, but didn't until after they nerfed. This all would fit with their pattern of artificially extending grinding in game. HoW will show more though.

Red death is not OP... it has a very low rate of fire unless you're shooting without aiming..ppl with Red Death can't just run in front of a person and have a guaranteed kill.. a good shotgun,pulse rifle, or any other gun could still beat the Red Death

The vast majority of how destiny players feel arnt represented on the forums. No one cares. He can sell red death. He can sell Gjallarhorn. Just about no one cares. And anyone that does is taking this game way too seriously.

I don't know. I think anyone could've predicted the forum reaction. Every time Xur has something good, it's the same thing. "For all those that Xurned their (insert exotic)..." I am looking forward to the day Ghorn is sold again. Can't wait to watch heads explode.

Red death is far from OP. I've had mine forever and barely use it. Got it out after the pulse rifle buff, and it went right back in the vault. Don't use it for crota cause I run gear that heals. Save that exotic weapon for ice breaker.
