I'm level 32, and I've only completed one raid.
I like the idea of what they're supposed to be, but I don't have a solid group to raid with and trying to get it done with randoms is often a good way to becoming acquainted with some of the most obnoxious pieces of human-shaped chunks of shit that I've ever met.
I cherry-pick raids for what I want, and then I leave and go back to PvP. I have a couple of friends who I will run through the beginning parts of CE for, or help with VoG from time to time if they're stuck on a section, but that's only to help them get gear to reach a higher level.
Raids are marred by the lack of matchmaking for people who don't ever have a full crew and end up in an endless cycle of LFGs and getting stuck with assholes. (I shouldn't have to go out of my way to group up with retarded jackasses. That should be an in-game feature.)
I spend most of my time in the Crucible. I prefer murdering this game's toxic community over trying to navigate a raid with them.

I have done more raids than I can count - my first CE run on my titan I got 3/4 of the pieces....I've run it 8 or so times since and am still waiting on the chestpiece....

Iron banner gauntlets and boots. Exotic helm. Chest from CE. It's possible.

Ah yes shards. Maybe he just dropped into the first chest once a week. Would still be tough.

It would take him 11 weeks if he did that, and that is considering he pulled shards every single time. No energys. I'm also not sure if the Dark Below has even been out for 11 weeks.

He could have gotten shards as a reward but that's probably only 8 or so shards on normal mode. It's possible but would be very difficult.

Iron banner boots and gauntlets raid chest and exotic helmet. Don't even need to have completed the raid once to be 32

Incorrect. The only iron banner gear with 36 light is the gauntlets and leg armor. Which means that you have to have an exotic helmet or chest armor. Then you must have a raid piece for what is not exotic or iron banner. It takes 21 radiant shards to fully upgrade one piece of crota armor, which takes a hella lot more than 1 raid completion.
