Just curious as to why people don't raid. Is it simply because you don't have people to play with? Raiding is really fun and the rewards are amazing. There's websites that'll help you find groups. I suggest Atleast doing the vault of glass... It's up there as one of my favorite encounters in all of video games.

Dat Atheon fight tho. SUPER-epic. Especially the first time, when you down that giant gleaming bastard, it's an awesome feeling. Plus, when you're all together on the middle platform, the guy with the relic standing out in front of the rest like some holy warrior from space, the rest clustered behind him like a bunch of badasses popping off sniper shots at a giant futuristic beast-creature, it's hard not to feel kinda awesome :D

I know I didn't know about LFG and didn't have enough friends who played the game when I started. Also I didn't look into or realize how lucrative the rewards were. I didn't even do the vault until after the DLC came out. Had I realized you get showered in ascendant shards/energy I would have started as soon as possible.
