EDIT 2:
Again, thank you everybody for sharing your tips and advice with me. I’m sure there are other fresh warlocks (and probably some experienced ones as well) that have found some new and interesting information in here. (I know I sure did.)
It’s also fantastic to see that the positive replies by far outweigh the few negative ones I got. It is really refreshing to see that there are still so many of you willing to help out complete strangers and are willing to spend a small or sometimes even a very large part of your time to share your preferred setups and/or give your opinion on the matter.
I value all the input and replies I got. Regardless if other people agree or disagree with what you are saying. A lot of it comes down to personal preference and it’s only natural that not everybody will have the same opinion.
In the end, there is no truly right or wrong. What works for you does not necessarily work for me and vice versa.
I will be trying the different perks, exotics and setups out for myself of course and I’m already looking forward to unlocking more of the skill tress of both subclasses along the way.
All the replies I received from you all have given me some very valuable input that lets me already start thinking and planning ahead. My natural ‘feel’ with the warlock will only grow after getting some more playtime and experience with it, but the comments on this post have given me a bit of a head start.
I always try to thank each poster personally, but I can’t keep up with the posts, I’m sorry. Thanks you all again for sharing your advice with me!
Any tips on warlock set up?
I recently started a warlock (only up to level 15 yet) but I’m looking for some tips from experienced warlocks about the ideal setup of the skilltree for sunsinger and voidwalker.
EDIT:
Thank you all for taking the time to answer my questions! It's greatly appreciated!
I know it's mostly personal preference and I will of course be trying the perks and combinations out for myself. I'm just trying to get some tips about your personal preference and set up.
I honestly don't understand why I'm getting all that flak from some of you.
I've posted many questions here on the forum and have tried to answer questions by other players as much as I can to the best of my abilities. This is the first time I've been getting these kind of negative responses.
Luckily there's still much more positive and helpful answers, but it's still showing a trend.
I don't mind the people saying I should try it out for myself, that's a valuable piece of advice in itself, but some of you are just plain negative without willing to contribute in a constructive way to the discussion.
It's kind of sad actually, I thought this place was supposed to be here for asking questions and sharing your destiny experience. If you guys keep this up, you'll end up with forum filled with troll and whine posts.

4 AntwortenI realized recently that with every class, the first subclass is the more fun one, and the second subclass is the more supportive. For example, voidwalker is extremely fun to use (especially with the Bad Juju and Obsidian), but the sunsinger subclass is very supportive because of self res, and the amazing grenades.
-
2 AntwortenEach class has its benefits, but for warlocks as soon as you can get the bad juju and the obsidian mind...its all void walker from here on :)
-
1 AntwortenIt's not really something anyone can tell to because it's preference.
-
2 AntwortenDon't use self revive in PvP and choose Nova Bomb track enemies. Other than that, everything is situational. Get Obsidian Mind for Voidwalker, Heart of the Praxic Fire for Sunsinger, and Apotheosis Veil for both.
-
1 AntwortenFor voidwalker run axion bolt- it's just unfair.
-
1 AntwortenHelmet you should rock if your going to use an exotic helm is the apotheosis veil it is really good for healing, any supers even from sword and relics
-
3 AntwortenThat's more preference, I usually go with High Armor and Recovery on all my toons though
-
2 Antwortenvoidwalker - i use vortex grenades, vortex for nova bombs, life steal energy drain from melee, annihilate for bigger vortex, and bloom for explosive kills. this is a very vortex heavy build that i prefer to make them bigger and more damaging. sunsinger - i use fusion grenades, either radiant skin or fireborn self res depending on the situation, flame shield from melee, viking funeral for extended burning, and gift of the sun for 2 grenades (if you use starfire protocol you can change this last one to touch of light for more burn damage while still gaining 2 grenades). a somewhat balanced build with a bit of emphasis on extra burn damage. all of this is highly subjective though and you will still want to tailor your own build to fit your skills/needs. some people hate vortex grenades and prefer bolts, things like that. hope this helps.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von WileEWolf: 3/4/2015 5:12:26 PMIm not expecially god at gaming, but... PvP: Voidwalker, prioritize your armour PvE: Sunsinger, don't bother with 1+ grenade, Fireborn is best unless you are playing with an extremely good team where its basically impossible you will be last man standing. Obsidian Mind and Heart of Praxic Fire are good Exotics to get.
-
1 AntwortenREALLY depends on the situation. I run my void walker more now because it's more fun but both sub classes are really effective. It's all about being able to switch your grenades and super characteristics on the fly.
-
1 AntwortenGo sunsinger with heart of praxic Fire and spec out for regen use solar grenades
-
1 AntwortenVoidwalker in pve I will use vortex grenade, vortex upgrade on nova bomb, last upgrade to reduce super cooldown on melee, annihilate, and bloom. Bloom is great for crowded areas (abyss in raid) as well as vortex grenade to zone off areas. In pvp, I switch to axion bolt, blink, and vortex mastery. The others stay the same. I usually play a bit more aggressive in pvp so I use axion bolts to finish off guys that hid, or to make them run away so I can shoot them while they are distracted. Sunsinger I use the same loadout in pve and pvp. I use it as a DPS class. I only use self res in nightfall or when I am swordbearer on Crota, and I will only switch to self res for the last sword attack in case I get cut down on the auto enrage (which has happened before and has saved me). Otherwise I have radiant skin on. I always stick with fusion grenades, flame shield, increased radiance duration, and gift of the sun.
-
3 AntwortenWhenever you're doing nightfall save your self res for the worst like your entire team wiping

1 AntwortenI love the Warlock. Favorite class by far. Have tons of gear and experience. Been playing since day 1 so here's what I've been using. Voidwalker: Nova bomb 3 projectiles, Surge for faster movement and reload speed, Scatter grenade for crowds (Most use axion bolt, but I never found a use for it outside pvp). Sunsinger: The super depends on your playstyle, but I highly recommend using Fireborn for Nightfalls and Raids. Solar grenade is a fan favorite, Flame Shield saved me so many times. One melee and you get a shield that will give you enough health to find safety. Incendiery damage can be helpful, but I dont see much of a difference when not using it. If you have strong enough weapons, enemies will go down regardless. All in all, Level up both classes and customize to how you play. Are you a hardhitter or a strategist? The strength of Warlocks come from recovery and strong dps output. You can either be aggresive or careful. Not saying that the other classes aren't this way as well. But from my experience using all three, Warlocks are easy to maneuver.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von SmoggyPluto: 3/4/2015 5:36:24 PMIll give you a few PvP tips.... I call it DoT Heaven.. Radiant Skin..we dont Self Rez in Crucible.. If you do, and your up against decent players they will drop you just as fast as you pressed L2/R2... the dmg reduction is very noticeable.. I will say the Focused Burst is the jump to go with.. I liked to use it in a gun fight sometimes to make my enemy's move around that cursor..Flame Shield.. that's a given..all you have to do to get a shield is touch someone..lol..unlike some classes... Now take Firebolt Nade, it hasn't been given the respect it deserves. Tho more so nowadays more and more Warlocks are using It I notice.. w/ Viking Funeral and Touch of Flame.... Your playing Control.. You notice one of A/B/C being captured with some serious speed..You pop super just before getting over there.. Throw nade it will hit most in the range of the nade, tho the range isnt the best.. The nade itself does like 90+ dmg.. Now they are also DoT you can see where they go behind walls while DoT.. They also take more dmg now from Viking Funeral.. throw another nade in..someone is dead if not most.. Throw on HoPF if you can for more nades and melee during Radiance.. If you use Thorn, this is the Ultimate Dot set-up.. Take Care Sunsingers :)

1 AntwortenI find it better to boost recovery and agility in both skill trees, no agility equal bad jumps and if you boost recovery it makes up for armor, warlocks recovery really fast
-
1 AntwortenIt really depends on your play style and the situation. In PvP I generally run high agility and use either Radiant Skin or Vortex. PvE I run high armor and switch between Song and Fireborn (Depending on team quality) or Vortex and Lance depending on targets.
-
2 AntwortenI recommend using skills that increase toughness and recovery. Use either axion bolt or vortex grenades, and I usually use the split nova bomb. Overall, Voidwalker is probably the better class, but sunsinger is still pretty good. Equity armor that gives perks to your class for the best gameplay.

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von MaRTiaN PRieST: 3/4/2015 5:00:28 PMPlay around with it and find your own build. Stop relying on other people to figure things out.
-
8 AntwortenReally could tell you how I run it but best for you to do it for you.
-
5 AntwortenVoidwalker so with all the perks that make enemies explode. I prefer the 3 shot super in PvE and the javelin for PvP. Sunsinger: solar shield, fusion grenade, radiant skin (fireborn for nightfall/raid), and the two grenade perk.
-
1 AntwortenVoidwalker is more offensive, and sunsinger is more defensive. Figure the rest in your own like I had to.
-
1 AntwortenIf you can master Sunsinger it's the better class. I recommend HoPF or sunbreakers and the solar grenade.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Tyrexosaurus: 3/4/2015 4:42:08 PMHighest agility is amazing. I played without max agility for a while, then I switched and I love it. You have to make sure you aren't caught completely out of position though, but it's easy to get back into position. Initial burst of speed is good to use. Even with max armor/recovery, you're squishy as hell, so I like to mitigate by being able to move quickly. Sunsinger is awesome though, fusion grenades are amazing for bosses/majors/ultras, and don't listen to all the hate on the forums, self res is very helpful on raids/nightfall.

1 AntwortenUse highest armor and highest recovery agility isn't important
