The idea of exotics was that they were suppose to be rare and hard to get. At first they were but now they have increasingly gotten easier to obtain. With future dlc's I would like higher level gear that replaces the level of exotics. You would only be allowed to have one of this new leveled gear just the same way exotics work now. Any of your existing exotics would be able to all be equipped. My idea of the next tier of gear is onyx weapons and armor. Black leveled gear instead of gold. Weapons of the darkness. These powerful items are extremely high in power but they devour your light and instead of adding light they take it. This could mean one of two things. 1. You no longer produce a super and light orbs 2. Decrease light rank Anyways just my idea, tell me what you think and what bungie should add in future dlc.
