For all you Jesus and religious people out there... I want you to do something for me. I want you to get a coin out of your pocket. Go on, get it out. Good. Now I want you to pray with all your might to God and ask him to make that coin land on Heads 50 times in a row. Go on... do it. Once you have done it, flip that coin. I bet you got tails sometime in the 1st 5 or 6 tries. Yes, yes I know, God doesnt have time for small little things like this. This is a waste of time.... But is it? Okay try this. Pray again, but this time I want you to pray with all your might again that everyone with cancer is cured tomorrow (sorry for anyone that actually has cancer or family members that do, or ect, Im just trying to make a point here). Now that you have prayed for that... lets think. That is a huge meaningful prayer. That is saving Gods children. Why would God not what to save what he has created? Now will cancer be cured tomorrow? Nope. Sorry it wont. Why? God dont exist and prayer means nothing.
Have I took this post way to far? Sure I have. Will this butt hurt some people? Sure will prolly. Will this post make someone laugh? Sure again. Will this post make sense to some, bet it will. Im getting tired of people bringing religion into video games. Its a damn game. Get off your high horse and keep religion out of it. Play the game and have fun. Thats why you bought it right?

You 150% correct sir. If anyone thinks otherwise ask why they cant hear or see him? If they respond saying the have heard or seen him then they belong in the loony bin with the other crazy people claiming they hear voices and see things in their head
-
But Christians have long elaborate excuses for why their prayers are never answered lol
-
Right?!?!?! HAHA
-
"Your lack of faith distrubs me...." But seriously, prayer isn't a 1-800-God-give me-what-I-want kind of thing. True prayer is something different. God has a plan set in place. He already knows what you are going to do, the choices you will make, what you feel in your heart, or what you think in your head. Prayer is a way of communicating to God that you acknowledge Him as Lord, asking forgiveness for the sin you have committed, and asking for understanding of His plan for your life (ex: why do my loved ones have cancer? What purpose does this serve your greater plan? Etc) If I had the power to pray and God would grant me whatever I wanted, I'd have Gjallerhorn by now...

From the sounds of it, you enjoy talking to yourself a lot. Thats all I got out of this to be honest. I have no faith. God is just something the makes people not take responsibility for their actions.
-
On the contrary, I don't like talking to myself at all. Also I was typing, not talking. From my point of view, its opposite of what you said. I not only take responsibility for my actions, but I also admit my mistakes to the creator of the universe and ask His forgiveness. If you don't believe in God, why take responsibility at all? The world would mean nothing, as would you taking responsibility for your actions. Why? There would be no reprecussions for your wrong doing. So whats the point? For society's sake? Greater good of mankind? To what end though I wonder? I'd rather live with purpose than spend my days counting down until I'm wiped from existence with no purpose or meaning.

Bearbeitet von Volvogia: 1/14/2015 9:07:33 PMAnswer me this, have you ever got a answer or not that God forgave you for your sins? I bet not. Not one person can say they have. I accidentally stepped on my girlfriends foot while wearing shoes. She got mad and yelled at me. But I told her I was sorry (there is me taking responsibility for what I did). She said she was sorry for yelling at me (thats her taking responsibility). She then forgave me for what I did. (Thats her forgiveness). I felt better in myself knowing that she forgave me because she told me she did. Its all for society's sake and the greater good of mankind to take responsibility for your own actions. God has nothing to do with forgiveness. Asking God for forgiveness in prayer is just you asking yourself for forgiveness.
-
I could talk to you in-depth about all the answers I've gotten to know His forgiveness is real. An internet forum is hardly the place to do it though. Especially one as toxic as this forum is. I'm trying to follow this conversation and its already getting buried. You seem set on disputing anything that doesn't comply with your viewpoint right now so I'll settle with the seeds I've already planted. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
-
No seeds have been planted my good sir. My viewpoint is mine, and you have yours. You are free to believe in whatever you want to. Whether people like me disagree with you, I give you props on standing up for what you believe in. But we all have a common ground here, leave it out of video games.
-
I'll back you up on that. Video games are an escape from reality. No need to drag things down here in the forums. Have a good day sir.
-
Matthew 4:7 Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
-
'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" I understand this. Completely. Why would someone thats fake want to be tested? Just will reveal that whatever they said or claimed they could do that is way to good to be true is completely false.
-
So you're supposed to blindly follow a figment of someone's imaginations, but you can't expect anything of him? You people are dumber than i thought.
-
I was waiting for a in God we trust reference, you know how dare we tie money too God, being we tie in random drops of digital earning in a game... Really what's the difference.

For one, the whole coin flip thing is about as incoherent as asking if God can create a rock He can't lift. It's senseless. He created a logical world/universe with rules (no, there aren't multiple universes, that's contradictory), therefore there isn't one He can't lift. God does desire for all to be saved. But, based on allowing man to have free will, this cannot happen, as not everyone will make the same decision given the same choices. This isn't just a God thing, this is an absolute truth, in general. About cancer, cures take time. There are some miracle cases out there that see almost instantaneous cures, but God does not act in that way like He did during some of the Biblical times. Illness and disease (among other bad things) arose as a result of the fall. We all sin (yes, including me, and on a daily basis). Praise God that we can be redeemed and spend eternity with Him! Also, asking for people to dismiss the most important part of who they are as a person from a mutual hobby is wrong, and that goes for both Christ Followers and non-Christ Followers.
-
You have no proof that there is not multiple universes out there with different rules in each.
-
The universe encompasses "all existing matter and space considered as a whole" (definition that came up at the top of my page of my google search for those who would like a rough reference). The concept of multiple universes is a contradiction and really a desperate attempt to prove there isn't a God. I won't get into the science of it, I already wrote a novel to one guy in a response haha. But, the science of it just isn't good either.
-
that does not prove there is only one. for there is not just one for it has been proven that there is multiple dimensions within this one itself. So that leads to the possibility that there is more than just one. those who try and say otherwise are just those that try and defend that god exists without any real proof he does either. there is no proof for either and yet bot may exist within their own context of understanding what reality and existence is really about.
-
Well said. I am a devout atheist, but I appreciate your sentiment. I mean that with no sarcasm intended. I would ask about your opinions on manifest destiny (creating humans only to knowingly doom trillions to eternal hell and punishment, how can it be worth it) and about free will (are our choices innate, in which case God is creating people to be eternally tortured, or random, in which case God is playing percentages, or shaped by our environment, in which case God is allowing people to be eternally tormented) but this is probably not the place for that.
-
Thank you for your kind words and good questions. I'll answer them to the best of my ability. I will say, though, that I am not a professional theologian. If you want to read that, I recommend reading William Lane Craig's writings at reasonablefaith.org (no, I don't work for them and I'm not getting endorsed for a plug haha). Also, watch debates between him (or other Christian apologists if you wish) and famous atheists, though they are rather lengthy. Anyway, onward. There is a combination of free will and predestination (or what I believe you are calling manifest destiny, tomato tomatoe) involved. God created a world where our lives are played out based on our decisions that we make from our free will. This puts God off the hook for forcing people to sin and creating them with the purpose of sending them to hell. God had everything He needed with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Therefore, God did not need to predetermine everything and make us robots to fulfill Himself. God created humanity with the desire for all to be saved. However, it is not logically possible or feasible for that to happen because not everyone will make the same decision when given the same choices. This isn't just a concept that applies to accepting or rejecting God, this is an absolute truth that applies to any given situation. Sadly, God does create people with the knowledge that they will be eternally separated from Him. However, this is a result of that person's choices and free will. He knows all things, including those that are (our current world), those that could be (possible worlds) and those that would be (feasible worlds). He took all of these things into account (the decisions we would freely make under any given circumstance/world/whatever you want to call it) and created the final product that we see today as the world that currently is. Thus, predestination is, also, involved. This shows that predestination and free will coexist as a paradox and not as a contradiction. God created our world considering an infinite number of circumstances, but we are the ones that are making our own decisions. God does not preordain what we do, like some Christians believe. This would make Him responsible for evil, sin and the fall. Not only that, but if you follow that logic to its end, God would be the one who is forcing us to sin. However, that is unbiblical and illogical. God also did not just aimlessly create a world by the seat of his pants. Hopefully that answered your question. Sorry it was lengthy haha! Here are a couple of links that may help explain things better if I was confusing. You'll notice that it talks about Molinism. This isn't a separate religion or a new denomination. This is a theological stance that further explains this issue that was named after a guy named Molina. Again, thanks for your kind words and good questions! God Bless! http://www.reasonablefaith.org/molinism http://www.reasonablefaith.org/search/results?q=molinism

Things like predetermination and manifest destiny are considered doctrine and vary among churches and denominations. These points are usually explored in doctrines like Calvinism. But not every Christian sees it that way, hence why there are Lutherans, Arminians, etc. I, personally, believe that we all have free will. Our choices, and consequences. In my personal view, God is like a father. I may ask for guidance and He helps me. I may have to go through difficulties in order to learn something. I may receive 'no' for an answer. But He is always there. My choices, but I ask for guidance.
-
Let's assume you are a father in the sense that God can be likened to a father. For the record, I am actually a father. Would you ever have a child, knowing that, not only would this child be tortured and tormented, but that such torture and torment would be for an eternity? I try to stop my daughter from stubbing her toe. I do everything in my power to keep her from having to experience even the most minor of pains. I cannot envision a being that is characterized as being love doing such a thing.
-
Consider that I do not believe in destiny or predetermination. I believe humans have free will. We can steal, or not. We can play a videogame, or not. We can believe, or not. Your choice. If your child asks you to help her with a bully, would you offer her guidance? Yes, of course. But if she says, "I want to deal with it myself, don't get involved," and don't ask what would you do? Maybe wait for her to ask? I don't believe He would force conformity , if we have free will. In this way, I don't think people are intentionally left for hell. I'm not even sure hell is fire and brimstone -- that's a popular notion, and not necessarily the truth. But think about it - would you care for someone who ignored you your whole life? Choices and consequences. Believe and follow His commandments and be saved. Reject and be forgotten. Isn't that how a father treats a child? No one can say what God is thinking. This is how I see it.
-
That is not the way the bibles says it. According to the bible you can not care about Jesus or God in any way your whole life and as long as you accept it in the end you can go to heaven.
-
That's why I said "your whole life." From beginning to end. Dying without ever believing. I greatly respect a person that converts.
