Damnit. This is that one question I hope no one would ever ask me, because I'm indecisive and unsure of my favorite and can spend 3 hours trying to decide after being asked, to ultimately respond with "I don't know man, bunches of 'em". I'll just list some noteworthy/memorable ones or series that hold some sort of place in my heart. Half-Life 2 + episodes. Halo 1-Reach. Gears of War 1-3. Super Smash Bros Series. Dark Souls. Persona 3 + 4. Mass Effects. Metal Gear Solid 2-4. Zelda: TP. Out of those, most "influential" I guess, were Half-Life 2, Persona 3, MGS, Dark Souls, and Mass Effects. Also Smash Bros Mass Effect 3 in particular is the only game I've ever broken my "no earlier saves to get better decisions" rule. It defeated me, and to this day I feel utterly ashamed yet amazed I was so moved by a video game, and that it was a horrible mistake I had made that caused it. I wish I hadn't "cheated", but don't have the strength to face my mistake. Half-Life 2 was my first modern PC game and its related games got me into serious PC gaming. Still waiting to finish my childhood, Valve. MGS is just awesome, I loved it's controls in contrast with all my friends, 4 was cool but sort-of felt too fanservice-y. 3 was my favorite overall. Haven't played 1 or the new ones, unfortunately. Dark Souls fed the hardcore elitist ego and masochist parts of me, plus the world is really cool and interesting. Still PvP to this day. Persona 3 appealed to my anime senses, but ended up becoming something much more painful to let go of due to the awesome story and characters. Bawled like a girl during credits. Compared to Mass Effects generally angry tears, P3s were just bittersweet. Got me hooked on the whole series, and looking into other Shin Megami Tensei games. Finally, not as influential-ish in terms of changes outside of the game, but there's Super Smash Bros, for being the best fighting game ever created, the only one I enjoy playing, and for being so enjoyable it became a passion of mine to constantly improve my skills and challenge my friends so much it almost jeopardized the friendship itself. Never have I been so competitive about a game and stayed so interested for so long without ever burning out. It's truly one of a kind. Probably left quite a few out, but I'm freaking sleepy. I can't choose favorites anyway, as you can see. TL;DR I hate you OP Let's just make it Smash Bros.
