EDIT: TO ANY WHO PLANS TO COMMENT, I'M DONE, CALL THE CLASS WHATEVER YOU WANT, BUT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHAT IVE SAID BELOW, DONT POST ANOTHER COMMENT. THANK YOU.
EDIT 2: IVE CHANGED THE TITLE TO MIRROR MY OPINION AT THIS MOMENT, I MAY HAVE BEEM TOO RATIONAL IN REGARDS TO THE HUNTER CLASS
I hate when people refer to the Hunter as the sniper and/or stealth class. I don't know where they pick up this stereotype but here's why it shouldn't exist.
Firstly, every class can use every gun so whose to say the Warlock isn't the sniper class or the Titan? They all can be the sniper class if they wanted, they have the option to do so.
Secondly, there is no stealth mechanics at all in destiny so claiming it to be a stealth class is like calling the Warlock the sheep class or the Titan the celery class. There are no sheep, no celery and no stealth.
Thirdly, people may claim that the abilities the hunter gets is sniper/ stealth oriented. I disbelief this entirely. The two subclasses we know of so far for the hunter are gunslinger and blade dancer. None of these suggest sniper at all. Gunslinger reminds me more of a cowboy to be honest. Very basic weapons, not high powered long rifles. And blade-dancer which has am associate super, arc blade. Which again doesn't seem very sniper-like at all, at least for me.
Some may argue that the blade dancer is like a stealth super. Well the light created when powering arc blade is not very stealthy at all, and again there is no real stealth in the game like mentioned formerly.
What do you think? Am I being too rational?

Bearbeitet von Lord Decitron: 6/19/2014 6:51:12 PMTitan = fighter/ knight. Warlock = mage/ cleric. Hunter = rogue/ ranger. Obviously all the classes are interpretations of those mixed with other ideas and "classical" character classes, but on the whole, a Hunter's armor rating and their suite of powers don't really make them the best front-line warriors (not that one can't manage in a pinch, to be sure). Also, there are in fact stealth mechanics. Crouching takes one off the radar, and hunters have been shown in some trailer or another to have some sort of active-camo ability. Combine this with the "golden gun" as a sort of "encounter power" that deals hella damage in place of a bow, and you're all sorts of rogue/ ranger.

Hunter = Huntard :B

1 Antwortenhonestly, i guess i agree with you...it's jus tthe LOOK of the hunter that bugs me. I'd be happy to use that class if...the armor just didn't...look...so bad. That said, if more armor looks similar to the ps4 exclusive hunter armor (the best looking armor i've seen in the game), then i'd be delighted

1 AntwortenI'm proof the hunter isn't the only one who can snipe. During alpha my warlock was my sniper and my hunter was my melee shotgun guy. The hunter does have quite a few passives in the gunslinger tree that work well with sniping but it's not needed. Anyway the hunter is great for in your face combat. He's very quick. He has the quickest jump out of all three classes. He's great for melee.

This is completely stupid

I've never heard anyone claim anything your suggesting, this may be a great troll though

People are making these stereotypes up themselves. If those who played the alpha noticed.. You get different weapon buffs from different armor, meaning as your character grows it's probably efficient to use whatever your gear promotes at the time*. One day you might be using auto rifle, next day you could be using scout rifle. Cookiecutter builds are a different story.. those aren't established yet so no worries.

3 Antworten*sneaks into thread* I quite love the stereotype... *snipes OP* *sneaks out*

10 AntwortenI believe something is missing, what if perhaps some of the exotics are class locked or some of the weapon upgrade tree is class locked Red Death, focused on regen health, this is a Warlock trait. We do not know if the other classes can use that specific upgrade Jalahorn (spelling?) Turret missile, we do not know if any class bar the titan can use that upgrade Closing Time, ADS cloaks you, again, we do not know if every class can use the Closing Time's cloak upgrade Bungie have said on several occasions that every class can use every weapon, they have never said that everyclass can use every weapon upgrade tree. If every class can use every upgrade everybody may as well be a Titan for the armor. I firmly believe that rare and exotic will have some class specific upgrades We did not see enough weapons in the alpha to rule it in or out and such a system makes logical sense in terms of making the classes mean anything

Please excuse my ignorance but, is this all over a video game?

I play as a Hunter as well and previously argued with a Warlock facing the same issue. The Warlock was upset because everyone thought the Warlock was just a medic but on the flip side he kept calling hunters bowmen which of course led me to a similar dilemma (ironic how he did the same thing to the hunters as he was upset about with warlocks). I will say this, in a previous mail sack (the exact one escapes me at the moment but I assure you it is there) someone asked of a stealth system and DeeJ came back with something about being able to render yourself invisible with the Arc Blade. In some form the Hunter can play stealth but I agree Hunters are not only snipers/stealth but it seems Bungie does want to create strengths and weaknesses, as they said before having a diverse group is best but you can venture into the wild with an all titan group if you like. I do actually enjoy playing a close quarter stealth blade fighter as a Hunter, sniping is fine but not quite my cup of tea. Bungie did however give everyone access to every weapon so they are giving everyone equality and not pushing everyone into a strict playstyle. I can understand your frustration but giving everyone strengths and weaknesses keeps the game interesting so you can benefit from your strengths and look to your teamates to cover your weaknesses which is the beauty of teamwork. I hope this eases your concerns and I hope to see you on the battlefield!

Huntard?

i thought i heard about the hunter getting an invisibility cloak so i suppose well find out
-
3 AntwortenBut you only saw the alpha. How would you know if there were no sheep or celery?
-
7 AntwortenTitans get a yearly celery. It's a lot of glimmer
-
3 AntwortenThe hunter seems to the class that focuses more so on taking out single targets without fail.
-
9 AntwortenActually every class has specialitys with certain guns which means some are better with certain guns so they say the hunters specialty is stealth and long range snipers
-
3 AntwortenHunters are only stereotyped as the stealth/sniping class because of bungie's marketing of hunters. In the actual game they have no abilities which directly promote sniping. Titans and warlocks are just as good at sniping as hunters. People should stereotype the classes based on their abilities, not what bungie marketed them to be.
