Simple question, why are some people against hunting?
One common argument I see is that we don't need to kill animals for food anymore, and it hurts them.
Do people not know that leaving animals unchecked hurts the population even more? There solution harms the animals just as much.

Bearbeitet von Johnson: 4/25/2014 10:21:46 PMI didn't know people were actually against hunting as a whole until I saw some of the responses in this thread. I have respect for people who eat what they hunt and keep populations in check. People who go after animals purely for sport, especially when its endangered animals, kinda just remind me of those crazy kids who kill kittens for fun, though.

20 AntwortenBearbeitet von Miofwin: 4/25/2014 2:02:11 AMBecause they are f***ing stupid. "Hurr durr dat waht teh stoor is 4" It's only there to support our over populated, and gluttonous, society. "Durr hurr we gats 2 keyp duh anymalls in check!" Yeeeeeah, no. I disagree with that logic entirely. That's just dumb. Why don't we cull our own race then? Surely if we a have a right to decide who lives and dies we should decide on what's best for our own race first before claiming like a retard you need to kill the wolfs so they don't kill the deer because they look pretty and eat the grass. Some people think it's wrong because if everyone had to find their own food and fend for them selves all the weak, dumb, and ill would die. I'm also completely for animal rights and love all animals. This is where the retarded people and edgy teens say things like animals are dumb, animals are beneath us, I don't care if they are abused and locked up, and we're top of the food chain. Cry more, edgemasters. And killing for sport is beyond pathetic.

1 AntwortenKilling animals for food is fine; I just don't see why you'd want to kill something as a sport. I mean killing other people 'just cuz' is usually seen as wrong and if you kill your cat you'll be done for animal cruelty, so why should it be any different for a wild animal?

Because people need something to take out their latent psychopathic, homicidal tendencies on.

40 AntwortenBearbeitet von Pendulate: 4/25/2014 8:11:16 AMIt irks me when people try to argue population control because it has absolutely nothing to do with the welfare of the animal. Population control is self-preserving, you're killing them because they could become an inconvenience if you don't. Yet I don't hear anyone advocating this route of action with human overpopulation which is negatively impacting far more lives than animal overpopulation (which is almost always human-induced by introducing animals into foreign habitats). That being said, I can understand that sometimes, measures such as these need to be taken, although this is often just a haphazard way of cleaning up milk that we spilled without adequate concern for the innocents being harmed. But, of course, most hunters don't hunt for population control, and if they say that's the only reason they do it they are almost always lying. They do it for sport. To saturate their own egos. Or they do it for sport and claim they're doing it for food, which is just nonsense because if they didn't enjoy killing the animal even slightly they would simply go to the supermarket instead.

5 AntwortenI don't hunt for sport, although I do keep the antlers and/or pelt, I don't hunt for food yet I eat most of my animals, I hunt for the kill. I do not care if you think I am an animal hating bastard. I kill them because it's fun. But I don't hide like most hunters. I'm honest. I love animals, I think they are beautiful, I enjoy them alive. I do not need to kill them. I can go on fine without. But I choose to. Only one season a year for me, and I bag a deer every year. I have a few elk, might go for a bear now that the season has started. Other than typical hunting seasons, my summers are often filled with the senseless slaughter of at least a thousand gophers a summer. Hundreds day every day I'm out. It's fun and I feel no remorse whatsoever. Every time I see a wolf I shoot it. They are not the species that was here before and currently decimate our lands. That's just population control, plus these -blam!-ers are huge. Biggest on the planet. Canadian wolves with no competition whatsoever down here in Montana. I saw the record for weight and I think I've seen plenty bigger than that. These guys are like the dire wolves from Game of Thrones. -blam!-ing monsters. I even killed one with a knife to those thinking I wouldn't be so big and bad without my rifle. I also bow hunt too. I bet I could kill one with my hands. The big ones are dumb and they bluff charge. I'd get him then. I only write so much because I know it bothers you. You hate how cruel I am. But know that I actively plant trees, take care of unwanted animals, nurse others back to health. From stubborn horses whose days are short, to a golden eagle that broke its wing. I love these creatures.

8 AntwortenIf you hunt to control their population, why aren't you doing the same with humans? People who hunt animals for sport/pleasure need to be locked up in an insane asylum because they are clearly murderers who would kill a human for no reason.

1 AntwortenI wish someone would hunt some of the deer where I live. There are way too many of them.

22 AntwortenWe're the top predator on this planet. So much so that we've eliminated and/or reduced the number of the predators on the top of nearly every food chain on the planet. Now that we have recently (within the past century) come to understand the outcome and potentially disasterous results when a food-chain's top predator is removed/reduced (explosive population increases in bottom & mid tiers that result in a collapse of the entire structure forever) we have an obligation to thoughtfully manage those systems, encourage the rebound of those top level predators and while those populations are increasing (which is a slow process) appropriately "fill in" for those predator species until they rebound and the normal balance of prey/predator is established.

I don't like hunting but I don't care if others do it. I don't like the people who use dear feeders to hunt though.

I hunt and fish. I do it for sport and for food. Their is nothing wrong with it. Simple as that.

Because Bambi. And jeez, a lot of celebrity appearances in this thread.

2 AntwortenIs it the animal's low intelligence that makes it inferior to us? If so, why not kill retards? Anything that can feel pain and happiness should be treated equally.

6 AntwortenHunting is fine. It's just got a bad rep because arm chair heroes sit in helicopters and kill wolves. You know those wolf packs would eviscerate those great hunters in an hour if that Helicopter took a dump.
-
I'm against poaching, over hunting, and trophy hunting. I don't have any issue with people who shoot things as a source for food.
-
2 AntwortenWhats the point of killing it for no reason other than "its fun!' ?

23 AntwortenBearbeitet von SuperSmeller: 4/24/2014 8:11:03 PMbecause it's 2014 and grocery stores exist. hunting for sport is stupid. if you live in the middle of nowhere and need food - fine.

1 AntwortenIf a species is endangered, then ya, don't hunt them, but in general it's not a big deal at all. As a side note, lolPETA.

Bearbeitet von Saleem: 4/25/2014 1:27:07 AM
I love neutrality, it helps me a lot
Nature is a balancing act. Humanity comes along every off and on to tip the scale in either way they desire. It comes back into balance after a little while, unless of course Humanity slams the ever loving shit out of the scale (War/Explosive Ordnance/Deforestation). That lengthens recovery time a bit.
I'm sure I'm not saying anything one can't figure out themselves.
I don't have any real opinion on hunting for sport or necessity.
