Allowing general members of the public to access other people's medical information?
Are you fucking serious son?
English
-
Well, if we're believing that we should force people to get vaccinated, why not make a list of people with communicable disease publicly available?
-
Communicable disease is a huge public health issue. Many of these diseases are already reported to state and local health agencies. Why not make if public? It will only help the community make better and more informed choices.
-
I'll take "What is doctor-patient confidentiality?" for $500, Alex I'm not sure if you're trolling or not. Yes, public health is a huge issue but no one should have their medical records provided to the public. All this would create is a witch-hunt for people who are already having difficulties with their conditions. Pull your head in
-
It's against the law for hospitals to disclose patient information generally so it requires a ton of STI testing but also changes to the laws of what information medical facilities can release.
-
Not entirely correct. In PA, as in most US states, every positive STII exam or culture has to be reported to the local health department. Additionally, an positive exam in a person under 16 gets reported to the police and CPS.
-
Even the ones that can be treated?
-
-
There's a difference between compulsory reporting and allowing the public access to lists of which patients have diseases You're better than this, son At least Kyuun is willing to admit that he said something pants-on-head stupid
-
There is a difference between being factual and scientifically incorrect and having a difference in opinion.
-
Opinions can be wrong. Yours is wrong. I can't believe that you would honestly believe that breaching the confidentiality that exists between a doctor and a patient is a good idea. What kind of doctor are you?
-
I practice Emergency Medicine. There are already several reason that the physician-patient has to be breached by law. This would just be another one of those legal breeches if it were a reality.
-
Those are situations in which there is a direct threat of harm to either the patient or someone immediately around them Try again
-
Not really. I'm a mandatory reporter, so there is that. Any assault, stabbing, or GSW get reported regardless if the patient wants it or not. All STIs get reported. Any pregnancy in a less than 16 year old gets reported. Any sexual assault suspected or real gets reported, regardless if the patient wants it or not. I'm sure I can come up with a few more if I tried.
-
Yes, mandatory reporting because of a situation where there is a direct threat of harm. Thank you for aiding my argument. Also, you'll find that mandatory reporting is not telling errbody errywhere about these things, but only the necessary people
