I’m not a pve sweat so maybe my opinion carries less weight. In my opinion the campaign is definitely very unforgiving for a campaign.
I did legend solo up to the circle room boss fight with the moving shield thing. Tried for a couple hours solo and it’s extremely hard for me. Strand is so underpowered in pve. Using my grenade(grapple) just gets me killed, and grappling around the room eventually gets me killed.
No fun at all. Witch queen was fun and relatively difficult on legend. I’m kinda pissed.
Just a quick update on strand. It’s the fact that they forced strand during the campaign when we didn’t want it. The subclass is definitely good.

2 AntwortenThis mission was my breaking point iv just uninstalled

4 AntwortenFinal boss solo is basically 1000x worse

Nah, it’s not just you. After 40 attempts of getting booped and the grapple doing more to get in my way then save me prompted me to team up with a dude on his 67th attempt. I was doing it for bragging rights, and was solid up until Calus. At that point it was literally just tedium and Strand not working as intended while being forced to use it made me not care anymore. I just wanted to be done. It wasn’t a fun challenge at that point, it was severe irritation. I’d literally grapple and it would swing me UNDER the area then cancel on me and I’d fall with him having like 2% health left just to have to do it all over again. It went from a good challenge all the way through to hard solo dungeon boss out of nowhere and zero room for error. Like they honestly should have just added a checkpoint after the first phase. Strand recharge was waaaay too slow for that encounter, especially with how much they through at you. Infinite respawning cabal yellow bars with shields, Tormentors, Psions, and Calus with his 4ish different attack moves. It focused way too much on movement (that’s subpar) while asking you to be a commando. When all you have time to do is run or swing around, and even those dont save you because you can still take damage, it’s not fun, especially when the Tormentors come in. There’s literally almost no room for a single mistake. You’re forced to use strand so much and in comparison to how slow it charges, it’s basically not even there when you need it and is super underpowered. Sorry if I may have repeated some stuff, but that encounter is straight bs. Oh and let’s not forget through the entire campaign, Strand’s recharge rates for different parts of the subclass were widely inconsistent up until that point. They want us to have everything all of the time until that moment and you realize how useless it is when you need it most and you have no choice but to use it. Basically evert wipe until that point was on me. Even second phase, Calus runs so fast you can barely stop to kill the Paions, Calus attacks, nukes your health, you swing to get away, but you’re being shot while swinging, if you look a certain direction while swinging, it changes your whole trajectory, and sometimes sends you flying off the arena, or calus get his second attack (basically meaning death), if you turn to shoot him, he’s already on top of you, if you stop sprinting to take out some adds, he’s on too of you, if you stop too long, you get booped to oblivion. I’m gonna sit here say, not a single employee played through on Legendary solo before they released this. I’m someone who will at least try to solo anyway for the fun challenge knowing it’s going to be hard. I know if I die, it’s because I need to do better. But those activities aren’t giving me no cover with no end to the enemies and forcing me to use a subclass that isn’t appropriate for boss encounters. I would have been much happier if I could have just used my Devour Warlock build. I tried, but hey, it’s basically useless against Calus’ overshield which is basically only effected by what? That’s right, STRAND. The whole encounter was poorly designed. And when I say every time I died he had almost no health left, I mean like a 2 more minutes and I would have beaten him, but I didn’t feel like taking all that time again. I actually value my time. Bungie doesnt. And crap story aside, this single encounter was the one thing I really hated. And I’m not a terrible player either, this was just artificially difficult for no reason. Im people who solo dungeons who couldn’t beat this boss fight. Its not you being bad at PvE. PvE is 99% of what I do. I can solo hero nightfalls like nothing. I’m surprised they didn’t make the Tormentors champions.

1 AntwortenUp until the final boss fight, I actually liked the campaign (as long as you mute the dialogue, and the music, and try not to look at the surroundings). But Calus is a butt, this is a dumb fight, and I don't even want to play it. At least past bosses felt possible and made me want to keep coming back until I beat them. This is just dumb, and all the floating grapple points in the room seem to point to the real meaning of this encounter: "maybe try strand, maybe try strand, grapple! grapple! maybe you're not good enough at grappling yet!" lol. I don't even know what to think about this, but I don't like it. it doesn't feel like a game. It just feels like bungie instructing me on how to pay for their content and be grateful for it :P

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else always overshoot their grapple jump? I can't tell you how many times I almost killed myself against Calus because I flew past the catwalk.

6 AntwortenIts NOT good, or fun. Witch Queen at least felt somewhat fair on Legend. They just won't let us over level anything anymore and I hate that, makes it not enjoyable. The final boss on Legend had me seconds away from deleting it and never thinking about this franchise again. My 2 friends swayed me away from doing that but it was miserable experience. I see myself not running that ever again on any alts and not pursuing any more "leveling up" since its all meaningless now. We can never be stronger, never be OP, and never even be above level, always capped below.
-
The final boss fight is what has me stuck. The rest seems do able. That last fight is just trash.
-
Also, I forgot, that shield room is also bs…again, no room for any error whatsoever. Artificial difficulty.
-
If you have striga with the catalyst max the range on it and it melts the whole room in that mission. I did it solo legend and God I never had to reload cause it never ran out of ammo and the poison effect burn the whole room down ease even the boss.

1 AntwortenI'm not a fan, at all of having a fake battle where I have to use the new super subclass for 5 minutes.
-
4 AntwortenWitch Queen legend was more difficult.

1 AntwortenThe Breakneck mission is not fun. At all. 3 boss fights on a row without a checkpoint. Fire whoever thought of that one. And these boss fights are in very small rooms with ridiculous splash damage. This is the crap I hate in this game. I have had to play the 3 vex boss fights over and over due to splash damage. I guess I should assume 3 in a row isn't even the end of this turd.

Increasing challenge versus adding "quit moments" are two separate things entirely. Lightfall's issue was that there were far too many quit moments. Forcing people to use underwhelming abilities instead of giving them choice - especially on a challenging encounter - is never a good idea. It's situations like the launch of Lightfall as to why people are convinced you don't playtest your game adequately enough. Just my 2 cents.
-
What that room needs is grenades, not silly string. It’s just the standard, no imagination crap, from the king of no imagination crap.
-
I gave up my legend solo bid in downfall... It is over- tuned. The normal campaign is silly easy tho... So I think Bungie just blew it in every conceivable way possible.
-
7 AntwortenI don't understand why everyone is having so much trouble. I beat legend in a night and was fine.
-
Oh my poor child, wait till the final mission :)
-
Best tip that worked for me was to just melee grapple into the yellow bars, use the nodes to get around the laser wall, and dot the boss with wither or something like that. Grapple melee into adds too to spawn threads.
-
1 AntwortenYeah headlong took a couple tries for me and I would consider myself very good at the game. I found it best with a waveframe and rocket. Kill trash ads and poke at the boss until you need to move
-
The circle room had me wanting to kill myself, however if you use a void heavy machine gun to control the adds it isn't so bad.
-
If you want a tip for that mission, grapple up and kill the hobgoblins as fast as you can. Those are what give you the most trouble in that room. They get you done to around half health eveyy try shot and that combined with the boss can kill you fast. Sucks that you’re forced to use strand though
