Don’t understand the amount of hate atm

This community is currently like a boiling pit of acid and I can’t really get why. Looking back at the last year my biggest issues with destiny were as follows. Repetitive seasons: they weren’t exactly low quality it’s just that they hadn’t changed for nearly 2-3 years and the currency system was over complicated. They have said they are fixing this now so that’s enough to make me want to get lightfall. Awkward build crafting: more just that materials and going between 6-7 different screens was time consuming, also being fixed. Event passes: these were pretty ridiculous and extortionate and don’t seem to be going away. A bit disappointing when you look at the old d1 events but it’s a very small part of the game anyway. Having to buy so much. More my fault as I didn’t think to buy the annual pass and it isn’t a mistake I’ll make again. Difficulty: game was too easy in general especially with 2.0 subclasses, being fixed in lightfall. While not personally one for me I know there has been a lot of contention over crucible this year and It’s a difficult situation. There was I time when I would have said destiny isn’t a PvP game but it’s hard to say that now as back in d1 crucible was the weapon sandbox that you tested you new gun in now it’s a competitive shooting mode. I don’t think bungie was ever really prepared to make a competitive PvP mode and they shouldn’t have made crucible as big as it is now. It can’t really be fixed as almost no one wants the same thing for it and someone will always be upset. What they did right. Story: this expansion has had incredible story and I’m still listening to final dawn on repeat. 2.0 subclasses: revolutionised how the game is played and was a source of a lot of the games enjoyment for me. Raids: raids this year were incredible, we had vow which has one of the coolest environments for a raid and has the most unique final boss fight in the series. Kings fall reprise fixed a lot of the issues of the original raid and expanded on them so it wouldn’t be as easy, graphically the oryx fight is beautiful now. Music: music this year has been really good with all the darkness themes. In conclusion I feel people are being overly negative about the game and while I believe bungie is deserving of criticism for this year being sub par in certain areas, people are going over board and using it as an excuse to vent their frustrations and run a hate train on the game. TL:DR gameplay loop was boring but being fixed Builds were clunky but being fixed. Crucible is bad atm but can’t be fixed. Visual and sound design has been incredible. Individual activities have been incredible. People need to take a step back and stop being intrinsically negative. Edit: a good 60% of replies were essentially just your generic cookie cutter forum statements. There seems to be some sort of illusion that I think the game is perfect. It really isn’t, I just didn’t touch on things that I really have disliked as I wanted to keep the criticisms more general but here we go. The level of bugs is unacceptable and is owed to the issue of the game being a horrific mess of spaghetti code. If destiny is to continue post final shape for the love of cayde make a new game with clean, simple, consistent code that is built to be worked on for the next 5+ years over multiple console generations. The new raid can’t just be symbols again, symbols are really lazy and a unfun mechanic. When you say you are doing “an exotic weapon overhaul” where you focus on 30 exotic weapons the community takes that as the bad unused exotics are being reworked completely not the airborne effectiveness stat of gun A is being changed by 10 and the damage fall off of gun B is being reduced by 2 meters. Gun design has become more uninspired and the guns don’t even look like they belong to destiny anymore just a generic sci fi game, where is my boxy two piece shell with my neat little reflex like sight. And the overwhelmingly huge issue for me is that this isn’t really destiny anymore. I still enjoy the game and I’ll stick it out till final shape ends but destiny was a mystifying RPG with a secret around every corner and a true journey to be made along the way with a new adventure every day. This however is a FPS with some RPG elements and a world that is pretty empty. For example, exploring the dreadnought feels like I could discover something massive lurking in a dark corner at any moment. The throne world feels like a set of campaign mission locations jammed together to make a space to do some stuff for 20 minutes and then not touch for a few weeks. I could go on but there is little point in doing so. The point is I’ve accepted the game will never be what I want it to be so I’ll accept it for what it is.

People (myself included) are overly negative because of Bungle's insistence that "they are always right". 1) Bungle refuses to address the #1 issue with PvP (and PvE too for Raids, NightFalls and Gambit) , which is their insistence that Halo Era Peer to Peer Networking works. It does not. They should have implemented Regional Dedicated Host Servers 6+ years ago. Even most Indie Games have Regional dedicated Host Servers - Bungle has ZERO excuses at this point except Greed and being Lazy. 2) Anytime anything impedes a players progress, it takes months or even years to be addressed. Anything that benefits a player is fixed immediately. I wonder why? 3) Outright lying about things like not Throttling our XP, capping our damage outputs, Can't increase Vault Space and then 1 week later it's done in D1 etc. etc. 4) Charging premium dollar amounts but providing Nothing but re-cycled, re-skinned content , weapons and armour, especially for seasonal content. 5) Story lines that tie nothing together and simply die at the end of a season. These arbitrarily themed Seasons make zero sense. We were just Pirates last season and this season we were Robbers for "Heists", will we be Cowboys, Accountants or Stock Brokers next season? 6) Stretching content out by time gating it so that it seems much longer than it actually is, because "Making Content is Hard". 7) Exceedingly broken RNG for the amount of grinding one has to do (i.e. Raid Exotics). The more you grind the less chance you have of getting anything. 8) This myth that bringing D1 maps - Content forward counts as New Content. It doesn't. 9) Many of us want Choice in what we play and how we play. Maybe I don't want to run Harder Strikes today and simply want to get my pinnacle and move on. There will be no choice because it's Bungles Way or the Highway. These are just a few of the many many BS issues that are due to Bungle being Bungle.
