It's not just the incinerators backpack either. If you blow them up with a grenade or reservoir burst, before they're even fully dead the bell cover raises up and starts getting DOT. Centurion shields explode and ring the bell. There's too many things that ring the bells in the dungeon besides direct player interaction.
