He makes some great points.
- In the current sandbox, the most effective primary weapons are also the easiest to use. As he puts it, AR’s have removed the need to be good with a gun in order to reach optimal TTK values. Skill is no longer a barrier to optimal performance.
- No super-regen mods for primaries pushes players even more towards heavy special weapon usage.
- The possibility of re-working the Intellect stat to only provide a boost to super regen after a kill. I’m not sure how I feel about this, but it’s definitely an interesting concept that would at the very least cut down on camping, especially in Trials.
- Too many things getting kills for you- AA/giant hitboxes (Arbalest), sniper flinch pulling the reticle towards the opponent’s head, Mountaintop, etc... I would add aggressive tracking on things like Jotunn or Celestial Fire, and Bastion only requiring 1/3 accuracy for a kill.
I think all of these things come down to Bungie’s tendency to make things powerful via high ease of use. They need to realize that the most successful PvP games are balanced, skillful, and competitive.
