I understand why people leave this game because of quests like TLW being just absolutely punishing and gruelling, although I do want to say that if you have a team you can get through it easily as you can back each other up and team fire everyone. I soloed the quest and got my Last Word. I've been a huge lover of the weapon in Destiny 1, actively bringing it everywhere I could and making sure that I carried it on my character at all times. The weapon is really fun to use for me, especially as my two favourite weapon types in Destiny as a whole have been Hand cannons and more recently sidearms. If you don't have anyone who would run PVP with you there's also LFG, which admittedly has gotten worse from Destiny 1, but still has a fair amount of people willing to help out. As a last resort, you could also trust someone to do a recovery for your account to get the weapon. There are multiple avenues for you to get the weapon, but I do request that Bungie designs their quests to remove the punishment mechanics in the future, especially since Destiny 1 had a lot of them.
