Yes you could but you needed XP to get bright dust. Which was being throttled.

The XP thing was hardly around for long and you got bright dust from dismantling anything eververse related shaders and all

It was around long enough to be an issue. 2 weeks. Thats a lot of bright engrams down the drain. I'd say about 20-30 easily. Thats Enough bright dust and chances for every exotic emote. Add on the incident lost tons of community trust. Bungie still hasn't fully made up for that incident and this would have been the perfect opportunity but instead they chose the route that made the community lose even more trust after starting to rebuild it. They're getting too comfortable.

2 weeks is still not that long. Still plenty of time to grind out bright engrams. Not to mention the bright dust you might have had from the previous season.
