How can a majority of the US have the shortest end of the stick? The world runs on connections. If you know somebody, that's already a leg up vs. someone who is actively trying to push people away that are making them uncomfortable. I'll use this forum's political population as an example since the title is describing the majority of the Offtopic: Considering that this forum is generally conservative when it comes to politics, it's not surprising that people on this forum are playing the victim complex and are complaining about the world being mean to them, or whatever. Many conservatives on this forum tend to give each other praise and gang up on someone who isn't a conservative, often to just attack them as a person and rarely their points. Many conservatives on this forum are close-minded and aren't willing to open up to the possibility that not everyone on this forum or in the world is conservative. The ones that I have met who don't fit this description are far and few on this forum, with at most that I can count right off the bat being around 4 people. These people also don't seem to be complaining that they're receiving the short end of the stick, so they must be doing something right. It's probably because they're willing to connect with other people who don't share their political views. As for real life, if it's a job, it's probably because the other person has more desirable traits that the white person doesn't have, such as speaking a second language or more languages, for example. If I was a business owner, I wouldn't use skin color as a major determining factor. Other than the base qualifications, I'd see if they have a volunteering history, if they can speak multiple languages, are empathetic, and generally a pleasant person to be around. A majority of people on this forum only spoke English, which is great, but it doesn't look that great compared to someone who can speak a second language, a third language, or more. Advice for people on this forum who want to look better on a resume: Get volunteering experience, get awards, be involved in the community where you're applying to, learn another communicable language, be a tolerable person to be around, do something that stands out compared to other people also going for your job.

I don’t see how anyone could vote “yes”. I am really trying to see how but just can’t. As many have pointed out, white Christian heterosexual cis men are among the highest percentage of wealthy, and those holding high positions of most job industries in the U.S. Not to mention that there has been very very very little instances of this demographic being denied service or opportunities due to their race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. While I will admit that this demographic is getting a lot of criticism these days, I’m not going to say they have the short end of the stick. Straight white Christian men are the richest most powerful people in society. They make up the vast majority of CEO’s, politicians and every other position of power. The idea that they have the “short end of the stick” is completely ridiculous. Just look at congress and the current president if you want proof. Look at a list of the richest people in America if you want proof. Sure minorities and women may finally be starting to catch up but they still have a very very long way to go before they have anywhere near the same amount of power and wealth as straight white men.
