We all know they are great in PVE.
I think they CAN be good in PVP.
This question is ONLY for PVP.
Do they need a buff?
Feel free to explain why yes or why no.
EDIT 1: I just want to point out that the defender is my favorite subclass and I do think it is good in the right hands. But something that really pisses me off is that it seems to cater to shotguns more than anything. I like using a sniper and it just doesn't mesh with a sniper as well as it does a shotgun.
Another thing, I don't know if you guys know this or not, but this pissed me off as well. I like using the no back up plans and they finally buffed it (towards shotgun usage) but ANY subclass can get the perk "force barrier" when wearing the no back up plans.
For example let's say you decide to use striker or sun breaker and put on the no back up plans and you get a shotgun kill, you will still get force barrier even though you aren't a defender. Idk if it's just me or what but I think that should be exclusively defender gear. It's the least played subclass in PVP by far in my opinion especially in trials and now when defender gear gets a buff all subclasses can use it? That's just kind of crappy to me.
I'll have to find the link again but in almost positive that the defender melee has the lowest damage of all melees in the game. Which is also stupid in my opinion.
Maybe they don't quite need a buff but I definitely think some things should be tweaked a little.
I also think making the new back up plans perk proc on ALL special weapon kills instead of just shotguns would make more players that like using defender more comfortable using anything but a shotgun as their special weapon. Just my thoughts coming from a player that loves to snipe and almost despises shotguns in this game due to how much and how long they have been overpowered.

Defender class is fine. I used this class pretty much exclusively cause I loved the defensive abilities. Shotguns are almost a must for the class cause when enemies want to enter your WoD you need all the close range advantages you can get. The melee damage is in need of some edge but effectiveness of the force barrier is kinda what makes it one of the best melee.

It's asking you to risk a lot getting in close range. I'm not sure if you use sidearms but they shutdown shotgun users all day and players in general. Not snipers obviously, but anyway if that's all it took to get armor then it would be a bit of a problem. Least it comes off that way, would take some play testing to find out how it feels. I'm on the fence I guess mostly with your suggestion towards the exotic.

I've been having fun playing a Defender with No Backup Plans, invective and suppression grenades. Super aggressive play style!

They perform a very specific role. They defend. Nothing can take a point on control with a team abiding weapons of light or blessings. They are role specific.

What if you can wear helm of saint - 14 and no back up plans at the same time

3 AntwortenI main a Titan currently, and I don't think the defender needs a buff on their abilities on the crucible. The defender is a team-objective oriented class, When you go as a defender you go to support your team and keep them and you alive while at it. The ward of dawn is an excellent way to deny a hallway or give your allies a respite on medium range fights, the suppressor grenade is capable of taking the momentum out of a roaming super, and with the new perk on the No back up plans, the defender can be a pretty effective flanker. All being said, the defender is not for those who need to validate themselves with multi kills all day long, a good defender can turn the tide or take the momentum out from an enemy team. Although of course if you team sucks and dumb rushes all match long you should switch to sunbreaker.

1 AntwortenWeapons of light high impact sniper = 1 shot body shot

Suppression grenade enough said.

I wrecked mayhem with chaining weapons bubbles with a machine gun, super fun and more effective than I'd thought with all the supers flying around

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von Pro: 10/23/2015 4:14:24 PMThe No Back Up Plans glitch only happens in PvE. I tried it two games last night on my striker and Sunbreaker in crucible and never got the Overshield to proc

1 AntwortenAs a warlock as hunter main I think they need a buff

2 AntwortenNo, I don't think they do. I play defender exclusively in PvP on my titan, and as long as you build your own solid strategy, place your bubbles where they can benefit you and the team as much as possible (if you're assaulting a control point, weapons of light behind some cover where you know your team will run through it or something similar) especially now the "No Backup Plans" are actually good. I suggest running Monte Carlo, burden of proof and a sword for the blocking ability. Spec for war machine, weapons of light and the one that increases duration of force barrier. Never forget increased control for the good ol' titan skate.

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von Pro: 10/22/2015 12:45:31 PMI love playing defender Titan. The Year 2 No Back Up Plans ARE A MUST in PvP. You get an over shield with a shotgun kill. Are you kidding me? Suppressor grenade to boot. The bubble is just a plus. I've brought the hammer down on multiple sun breakers who want to try to fight in my bubble. Their mistake. Defender Titan is incredible in the right hands. Your kill potential may be a little lower because of no super kills, but man - it's fun.

3 AntwortenWith the new No Backup Plans and the Sunbreaker's complete vulnerability to the Suppression grenade, Defenders have gotten more playable in PVP. The only area where they need to be buffed is the Ward. Enemy supers certainly should be able to destroy it (With the current super power balance in PVP), but the same super should not be able to kill the people inside every time. The whole point of the ward is to draw fire and soak damage. If it can't do that on a SUPER level, then what good is it as a super? The Golden Gun should take 3 shots to bring it down, and the normal amount of hammers available in the standard Hammer of Sol should be what it takes to break the Ward. The Nova Bomb should impact on the Ward and destroy it, and then be exhausted. Any perks or exotics that boost the super's power should certainly allow for more killing power, but a basic super directed AT THE WARD should destroy the Ward. Not break through it with killing power to spare.

I like my super to kill

9 AntwortenThey're perfectly fine. Take it from me. If you want to use it offensively the perks are there you just need to use them the right way. Or use Saint 14.
