Hi community of the Bungie forums of Destiny. I have something to say...
STOP COMPLAINING ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF THIS GENRE!!!
We have a nice MMO that is as close to RPG as Bungie likes. Let them make their game. Did you all critsize every little thing in Halo to Halo 2 to Halo 3 ect. I bet no. Why? Because that was a straight First Person Shooter that was made and handed out. This game we have is known as an Massive Multiplayer Online game.
What does that mean?
To answer this we have to look at a definition. Or here
Now that we know the basic definition of an MMO we can look at the a few examples. sorry that these will all be MMORPGs or MMOSimG. I don't play any others.
World of Warcraft, StarTrek Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Warcraft 3: Rein of Chaos, Eve Online, Anno 2070. These are a few well known MMOs. Let's drop the two simulation games, they don't help anyone's argument. bye, bye Warcraft 3 and Anno 2070.
Now, let's look into these games and their progression through time.
WoW, STO, SW:tor, EVE... these all have had or currently coming out with new content. With every new release of content, old gear has fallen to the waist side. Did the player get upset, yes. But if they liked the game they stayed with it and kept putting out money to play the next best thing with in the game. Aswell, to obtain the next best thing in the game was a challenge and kept players entertained. This is what we have with Destiny. An ever evolving game that keeps coming out with new things. Yes each patch has their bugs and glitches, but it is up to us players to point them out and hope the game developers fix them in a timely manner.
If you don't like an ever evolving game... go back to COD or whatever it is you play. Many of us are tired of hearing your spoiled attitude of how your favorite gear is not going to last forever. I like new things in a video game, and when this game keeps bringing me new things I will stick to it until it does not bring me new things.
Bring the hate of what I have said here, I don't care. I know that there will be more people that will pick up this game when you leave because they see how much potential it has.
EDIT: there have only been two good replies so far... the rest is static. thought there were more people out there that could point out my mis-sayings and challenge me with evidence.
EDIT 2: Try to stay on topic people. Need a reminder? This was to be or try to be an intellectual conversation of is Destiny an MMO and to counteract all the issues to gear progression in-game. Also thank you all for taking my first edit under advisement. i sadly need sleep and will check on this in the morning. Keep up the comments!
EDIT 3: Morning everyone, glad to see some have challenged my thoughts and shared their own.

A lot of information here, but agreed. This is a game that evolves and changes. You want stale, play COD.
-
This game devolves far more than it evolves.
-
Warcraft 3: Rain of Chaos (RoC), is a Strategy game, and World of Warcraft (WoW) is the MMORPG

Daily bump

1 AntwortenI agree with you and I also love the new stuff. The problem with the forums is usually only trolls reply to a post like this so don't pay it to much attention.

15 AntwortenWhy are your defending Bungie? They are grown and you are just playing a white knight or are a Bungie plant in the forum. The current crucible that is available is to try and get more people to buy the TTK. Must be that not as many players preordered and now Bungie is scrambling to get more people to buy it. Everyone I have played with hates the changes, seems everything was nerfed. The supers are taking a long time to charge WTF!! I hope Bungie pulls their head out of their ass and fixes this shit ASAP. As for you... Get it straight! Players complain because they see the potential but are frustrated by the bullshit Bungie is pulling.

3 AntwortenHi there, CravenDescent here, bungie.net forum goer for just under 8 years and a Halo player since 2001. Just wanted to say, in regards to your comment:
Did you all critsize every little thing in Halo to Halo 2 to Halo 3 ect...?
Yes, yes they did criticize every little thing about every Halo game. This is the bungie.net forum, damn near everyone in here is moaning about something, and has been for years. That's just what they do in here. Okay, that was it. Carry on!

I couldn't have said it better myself thank you.

1 AntwortenDestiny feels like an open beta. It cost 60€. 95€ with the season's pass. 135€ with The Taken King. Paying that for a game and then have it "evolve" into a completely different thing just... It's not how videogames work. It's how open betas work. Not full releases. It's not right.

3 AntwortenVanilla WoW, and long term MMO players experience this as new expansions come out. Quel'Serrar was a great tank sword back in the early days of WoW that required a long quest line to receive the weapon. I finally got it before Blackwing Lair came out, WoWs second raid and within weeks, had something better. It happens with MMOs constantly. They're evolving yearly as the players are. Anyone that really thought weapons like Gjallarhorn and Thorn would make it to Year 2, or beyond just don't grasp how games like these work. While it would've been awesome, I didn't expect it one bit. There will always be something better coming out.

The problem is that I think a lot of players who play destiny do not have the same background in MMO/RPG genre games like you do. This game was made by bungie which is famous for Halo a FPS. A lot of the people who bought the game were probably expecting something like halo with an added feature of finding new weapons instead of grinding levels for unlocks. The game as also heavily marketed to the crowds that play COD/ Halo so you really cant blame people who are experiencing this kind of game model for the first time. They come from the world where the gun you unlock at level 1 is still just as good at level 50, and the gun at level 50 is different from the gun at level 1 but really isnt any better/ worse.

1 AntwortenStopped reading when you said Destiny is an MMO. Never go full retard.
-
Destiny is not a MMO, stop using it as an excuse to defend them.....
-
1 AntwortenI'm with you man. Some people won't be happy no matter what bungie does. But watch these same people who hate on the game are gonna shell out the money for TTK..
-
2 AntwortenDestiny launched with a shit story 1 raid and 4 strikes and reskinned weapons Dark below: 1 raid 1strike reskinned weapons HoW reskinned weapons 1 strike poe Now since all of year on is useless we are stuck with 4 strikes 1 raid a few new weapons that will reskin themselfs reskinned enemy's a shitty campaign Destiny is a small game it's not an MMO it's a shared world shooter it borrows rpg qualitys and ruins them
-
how would the game evolve without our feedback?
-
Sorry but as annoying as some of the complaining is, we still need it

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von BARACK OBAMA: 9/10/2015 3:46:17 AMPotential? Oh yes, the potential to become one of the most profitable games on console. Mind you, most of the game listed follow a F2P price model, and/or have content come out included in the subscription or completely free. And all games you have listed had more content than Destiny TTK when they were at launch.
-
2 AntwortenYa remember before the game released how much Bungie stressed that the game isn't an MMO, it's a FPS? I would assume not, because, like most on this forum, you will pull random shit out of your ass to try to say you're right. And I'm fine with that, just look it up if you get the time.

Mmo lol! Stop being the white Knight and defend something that is not there from the beginning.

1 AntwortenGod I love this post, couldn't have said it better myself. +10

1 AntwortenI don't mind them changing things up but the new gear should be better then the one it's replacing. Fatebringer is the best primary weapon this game has known and they've yet to exceed it. And these new raid gun seem mediocre, all have cocoon (which isn't a slam dunk perk) and a second perk that's also OK, but not great. If they want me to leave my FB, VoC, BH, etc. behind well then give me something better to replace it. Better yet let me pick me own perks, similar to reforging but instead of hoping and wasting time/resources, I would pay a high price (100 motes + 25k glimmer + whatever) so I can choose specific perks. I get they're still figuring things out, and we're just a bunch of beta testers but I would like something more then a knock off DO shader and sparrow to show for my time invested into their product.

9 AntwortenAlthough it's not an MMO, it has so many similarities to one, that people assume it is. It's not, but it's still an RPG, and an ever evolving game, CoD kids will never understand why things are left behind, and will complain every time something is left behind. Let them complain, Bungie won't change their minds on these matters, no matter how much they complain. Things are left behind because it's old content, to make room for new content. The people who complain have never played an RPG and see Destiny as only an FPS. Let the dumbasses complain and get nowhere, because that's exactly what happens.

2 AntwortenHope you have your flame resistant suit on. The tools are in force today. So many toxic, salty, entitled boobs. They simply don't get it.

10 AntwortenThis is not an mmo, why do people keep saying this? I mean you'd think massive multiplayer online would be self explanatory, but no

Stopped reading once you stated this was an mmo
