The Defender Titan subclass can fully maximize the often over looked Super Good Advice. With the right gear and perks, SGA can go from an awkwardly awful exotic heavy weapon to a close quarters grinder that handles like a primary.
Keep in mind that this is a situational strategy an will not work in every scenario.
Armor:
Willbreaker's Greaves
Ruin Wings
With the Willbreaker's Greaves and Ruin Wings (along with the healthy stock of heavy ammo synths you should already have anyway from xur), Titans can hold a large and regularly replenishing amount of heavy ammo.
Melee:
War Machine
Gift of light.
Keep that barrier up to soak up all that damage coming from the hoards of darkness that swarm your fire team. Use War Machine to increase the reload speed of your SGA, freeing up the perk tree for a little bit of extra range. Gift of light won't directly affect you or SGA, but those extra orbs will go a long way for your team. Remember SGA is for close engagements. Get up in their face with that melee.
Iron harvest:
"Heavy weapon kills generate orbs."
Need I say more?
With this simple layout any Defender Titan can be a dominating force against the darkness. Once again though, remember that this is a purely situational exercise. Please tell me what you think about it. Suggestions are encouraged. I hope that maybe this post will change the way a few people look at the Super Good Advice.
Also, as a disclaimer, I don't know if this topic has been previously discussed. This idea came to me while playing ROC strikes and I thought that I would share it.
Edit: glad to hear from comments this post has given people a fresh new look at lmgs, and the SGA in particular.
As several post have pointed out, this tactic can work effectively with many lmgs including corrective measure, deviant gravity, and the thunder lord.
TL seems to be getting a lot of love especially but that may have to do with so many people acquiring TL from xur over the weekend.

Feel like this would be great on Confluxes in VoG

The only problem is that Thunderlord will do a better job than SGA, and considering that now a vast majority has it over SGA, the point of choosing Super Good Advice falls flat except for s Solar burn Nightfall, and in that case you might be better off with Gally or IB anyway.

4 Antwortenwouldn't this work on any machine gun??? Please tell me how this helps with SGA.

14 AntwortenDon't see why people like sga. The only thing it's perk does is make up for its instability. You can do far more damage simply by using a stable MG. There are plenty of them out there. Thunderlords ammo can last the longest because you only have to use a few rounds per kill. Just have to shoot it a few rounds at a time.

You forgot the "laugh maniacally" part!

SGA just doesn't hit hard enough tobwarrant it being used as a primary. Corrective measures. Thunderlord or deviant are all better choices. Jolders with field scout as well.
-
Or, I could use this setup with another Machine Gun and it would be even better.

1 AntwortenWould love to try it but I've only gotten the SGA bounty to drop once... and I went Pocket Infinity instead ;-(

I think SGA is very underrated. Maybe its just the fun factor that makes it seem so good but I love breaking it out. I wish that the SGA perk would activate on rounds landed as well. It would truly be devastating then. Even if they reduce the percentage slightly.

I figured this out a couple months ago, it is ridiculously fun! We couldn't stop laughing!

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von TheyCallMeOneT: 5/11/2015 4:14:39 AMYes. Lol i used to run defender like that often with SGA or my old deviant gravity (for better stability and a more desired rate of fire). One of my favorites was on the omnigul strike... I'd become a orb producing slot machine for my fireteam and just watch nova bombs and golden guns wreak havoc. If you're serious about being a support role for your team, definitely give it a shot!

I...just might test this set up in the abyss tomorrow with my thunderlord(sga is unleveled) and see how many orbs i can spawn

1 AntwortenI really like your thought process, but there is one fatal flaw. This setup would work better on any machine gun with even the slightest bit more handling than this monster. It would also be safer to use a different machine gun. Not to mention SGA only artificially boosts ammo, as a machine gun with the same magazine size but better accuracy will get around the same number of hits, but they will be headshots.

I need to level up my Titan.

4 AntwortenI like to use thunderlord and ruin wings with field scout and iron harvest.

Bearbeitet von Eddmario: 5/10/2015 11:02:37 PMHere's another tactic on how to use it with other classes: Don't use it like a bullet hose. Just burst fire it. You'll almost always get headshots, and the perk does help save ammo on some of the (few) shots that do miss. Now, if the perk actually activated 100% of the time you could go ahead and just tape down the trigger.

12 AntwortenEveryone hates the SGA and I can't figure out why. it is one of the best machine guns in the game, the super good advice roll is always helpful, not to mention it does killer damage.

Bearbeitet von Number279: 5/10/2015 10:50:27 PMIt's a good idea; but it works just as well with any machine gun and better with better machine guns like Thunderlord; and with Thunderlord you don't have to use war machine since kills increase reload speed. You can switch that perk to the one that gives orbs for melee kills or unbreakable so your force barrier makes you invincible.
