Am I the only one who didn't get upset over Cortana's "death"? I have always been a hardcore fan of the entire Halo series, but I wasn't even concerned about her dying (probably because I was too confused about her wizard powers that allowed MC to detonate a nuke in his hands without dying). But she's just a program right? Couldn't they just reload her memories into a new chip?

5 AntwortenI feel like everyone forgets that slipspace teleportation exists in Halo.
-
I think she teleported him away from the explosion.
-
I never really cared about it either.
-
I was genuinely sad when she died, but I don't believe they'd kill her off completely.
-
Wish I could remember the ending to Halo 4, lol. Bush league ass game
-
Apparently cortana has been confirmed for the next game.

5 AntwortenI find it hard to believe she is gone for good. She played her part in moving Chief to his independence as a person. Doesn't mean she can't come back. I find it really cringe worthy when everyone says she needed to die, she needs to be gone, she needs to be this or that. She was and is one the most beloved characters in gaming. I don't believe her utter death from the series and her being in the series as a whole is just to show John his human side. That's bullshit. She's a character just like John, who had feelings, needs, desires, and feelings. Her death was what moved John's motives into Halo 5, so it seems, and that's great! Chief needs some change, but that doesn't mean Cortana needs to disappear completely. Let Chief move through this dark time he is going through because it is very interesting. Cortana is still relevant as a character by herself. As for the ending: I found Halo 4's ending really cheesy. The series didn't create enough character between the two to warrant the emotional tone at the end, leaving me kind of "whatever that was a dumb way to do it." I don't blame Bungie for not creating a deeper connection between them because that trilogy wasn't really about that. 343 should have made a longer game that went deeper into how the experiences of the past games influenced how they felt about each other for the player's sake. That's just one of many opinions on that ending.

1 AntwortenNo. Idgaf about Cortana

1 AntwortenI didn't... Probably cause a fgt ruined that part for me before I got there so I expected it

3 Antwortenlol...she's probably going to comeback human or something, due that sh*t the librarian was going on about in Halo 4. something about making flesh digital, but it not working well in reverse. put memories into another chip doesn't really make it her...just another A.I with her memory. which,I hate clones. It ruins every plot ever. She had Plot Magic,so she stopped him from exploding. no further explanation needed. ANYHOW...I liked her in 1-3,she was uhh..I don't know..kind of Zaney? but point is ,In Halo 4, she was just a crying delicate flower, and Chief was a sour puss, couldn't dig it.

1 AntwortenIndeed The Halo 4 ending was a little bit too much witchcraft..
-
probably because I was too confused about her wizard powers that allowed MC to detonate a nuke in his hands
Did you pay attention to what happened to MC prior to that? Hint Librarian Didact encounter?
But she's just a program right? Couldn't they just reload her memories into a new chip?
Face palm... You need to pay more attention to the narrative, it's all good though, takes time I guess.

No Cortana is dead. Her chip was destroyed and so her memories are gone

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von Vgnut: 3/24/2015 3:51:44 AMI don't know. Cortana's whole arc has always struck me as bizarre. Up until the end of Halo 3's she's your AI sidekick buddy. Then out of nowhere she's a romantic interest you're being told to never let go? I get she's Chief's friend and all but love of his life? Now in Halo 5 he's going to be all PTSD rogue because his virtual girlfriend died? No wonder the plot looks like you and others trying to find him and get Chief some help.

Yes. You monster

Cortanaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

3 Antwortenno, she was expired at the end of halo 4, she reached the end of her lifespan. the way AI die in halo is that they gain so much knowledge and eventually just think themselves to death. if you re-uploaded her on to another chip she would still have the errors making her existence an endless cycle of death. read "First Strike" they briefly explain it better than I just did.
-
You supposed fans, need to read the books. Its been explained and some.

Bearbeitet von Matu Flp Krawfe: 3/24/2015 5:12:31 PMThe emotional resonance is probably going to be had in Halo 5 if 343 refrains from rehashing Halo 3 with it (ie. the princess is in another forerunner installation.) I'm reserving judgment, as it stands Halo 4 has a good ending (the space magic just allows the plot to move in better directions than logic would otherwise allow) but just how good is definitely going to be defined by how the series moves from here (if Cortana stays dead, its probably a big moment in gaming culture. If she doesn't, its just cheap stage tricks.)

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Onxide: 3/24/2015 6:36:28 AMPerhaps Master Chief, in Halo 5, is searching for a way to bring her back. In order to do that though, he'll need Halsey, who as you hopefully already know, betrayed the UNSC and is now helping the Covenant Remnant. Maybe using both pieces of the Janus Key, they will be able to find some type of advanced Forerunner technology to revive her somehow, maybe even give here an actual physical form... Just speculation lol

I wasn't either, I was just hell bent on getting achievements. Only the Spartan Ops story captured my attention.

8 AntwortenChief has gone rogue...there is an assassin sent to kill him. Arbiter and the assassin are helping eachother find him. However, as Arby and Chief are friends... I beleive once the assassin and arby find chief the arbiter will kill the assassin before he has a chance to kill chief...but then again this is all theory.

4 AntwortenNo I honestly didn't care. I started with halo 3, where she was a nuisance, went to reach, where she was still a nuisance, to go to 4 where, what a surprise she was a nuisance.
