This is an issue about QUANTITY, not QUALITY. But there is a numbers issue when it comes to the amount of set Void weapons compared to Arc & Solar. Here’s the exotics & raid weapon breakdown.
Exotics
Solar (7): Gjallarhorn, Icebreaker, Invective, Pocket Infinity, Mythoclast, Super Good Advice, Dragons Breath
Arc (4): Nechrochasm, Thunderlord, Patience & Time, Plan C
Void (1): Truth
Vault of Glass
Solar (3): Vision, Hezen launcher, Praetorian Foil
Arc (3): Fatebringer, Timepiece, Found Verdict
Void (3): Epilogue, Corrective Measure, Revenge
Crota’s End
Solar (3): Hunger of Crota, Abyss Defiant, Black Hammer
Arc (4): Fang, Oversoul Edict, Light of the Abyss, Song of Ir Yut
Void (2): Word, Swordbreaker
As you can see, only the Vault has a balance in number. Quality can be argued, but when it comes to set weapons that do not change elements, there is a difference.
For the most part, lack of void doesn’t really hurt in game, but when it comes to Nightfalls & Heroic strikes that have void burn, the options are limited. Outside of vendor legendaries, we have 1 exotic choice, 1 sniper choice and either the Word of Crota or Atheon’s Epilogue for a primary.
Also as an oddity, 3 of the 5 Exotic bounties (and 4 of 6 when Fate of all Fools is released), reward you with a solar weapon. Arc & Void do not have a reward.
So here are my proposals for some changes:
1) Make either the Thorn or Universal Remote a void weapon. Since the UR is a primary, that makes it the only shotgun without an elemental damage in the game. Giving it void damage, gives us another potential reason to use it. The Thorn is a reward for the exotic bounty that requires 500 void point kills. So making it a void weapon makes sense
2) Change the Pocket Infinity to Arc & Plan C to Void. Now we have an Arc weapon for an exotic bounty, and Plan C gives us a Void exotic for special weapons
3) Change Super Good Advice to Void. Now we have an exotic bounty for a void weapon as well
4) Change Hunger of Crota to Void & Oversoul Edict to solar to have 3 of each weapon type with Crota. Since the VoG offers a solar rocket & arc pulse rifle, having the same elements for Crota weapons is redundant. This change balances out the numbers.
With these changes, the final numbers would look like
Exotic
Solar (5): Gjallarhorn, Icebreaker, Invective, Mythoclast, Dragons Breath
Arc (4): POCKET INFINITY, Thunderlord, Patience & Time, Nechrochasm
Void (4): SUPER GOOD ADVICE, PLAN C, UNIVERSAL REMOTE OR THORN, Truth
Crota’s End
Solar (3): OVERSOUL EDICT, Abyss Defiant, Black Hammer
Arc (3): Fang, Light of the Abyss, Song
Void (3): HUNGER, Word, Swordbreaker.
VoG guns are untouched.
Now there’s some balance to the numbers (and to a certain extent, the quality). Also, the changes give us a Void, Arc & Solar exotic gun bounty, as opposed to just solar gun rewards.
