Hey, Guardians. I'm here to tell you that, contrary to seemingly popular belief, large amounts of content were not cut prior to Destiny's launch. Why? How do I know? I don't (I really do), but I'm 99% certain, and for good reason: There is no reason to think so. No evidence.
What evidence can you possibly show me that proves beyond all reasonable doubt that large amounts of content were cut from Destiny? The Reddit AMA? Don't even try going there. See below.
This Reddit AMA with the "Bungie employee", 404Architect, was a troll, according to the great company that is Bungie (DeeJ, specifically).
To quote DeeJ:
"You are being trolled, Internet. Don't let it happen.
Bungie employees are easy to spot in the wild."
If DeeJ's word isn't enough for you (and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it isn't, many of you forum goers seem to possess a rather irrational hatred for him and blame him for your bad luck and shortcomings), take it from myself and all the other people who agree with me (which is a lot). There is nothing to indicate that the post has any validity whatsoever. Nothing. Zero.
If you truly believe that significant portions of content were cut from Destiny without a shred of credible evidence (which you very likely do not have), you're gullible.
If I'm wrong, however, I ask that someone provide me with credible evidence. If you can successfully do that, I will edit this OP and label myself a buffoon, as well as give you credit for proving me wrong.
I've done all the research I've thought to be pertinent to the subject and, along with my solid trust of (in my opinion) the greatest ever game development company that I love so dearly, this is where I have acquired my conspicuously radiating confidence on the subject.
"It's simple, I Wear Clothes. Bungie said in a 2013 ViDoc that we can go from Earth to Venus to Mars to the Moon, to Saturn. Where's Saturn?"
If you didn't already know, Destiny has a ten year plan. These things have time to make their appearances.
"But, muh concept art!"
Destiny concept art is not game content. It's beautiful and awe inspiring, but not game content.
Yes, a few things have been changed and very minor things have been cut (Most if not all for the better, do you really think that not needing materials to upgrade an exotic weapon is how it should be?). Still, nothing SIGNIFICANT has been cut, which is my argument.
Yes, Destiny's initial "promise" and the finished product don't fully align (it was not false advertising by any stretch, but merely a showcase of the game at the time, which was all it was intended to be). That does not mean we are in any way missing out on the great experience Bungie has envisioned for us. Give them more credit, especially those of you who have played Halo and explored its universe. For shame. Destiny is a groundbreaking game with plenty of content on its way to us, and plenty here for us now for that matter.
You might say that I'm wrong. Perhaps you'll say that I'm a sheep. Or, maybe, you'll say that my fanboyism is obscuring the truth from me. Yes, my fanboyism is strong, but so are my facts.
See you starside, Guardians, and Per Audacia Ad Astra.
*drops mic and undesirable green engram*
Edit: Some well-worded arguments, as well as some "arguments" that appear to be coming from 3rd graders. It seems that about half of you agree with me. I have been somewhat proven wrong by a couple people, but not regarding anything that would significantly alter the game, and I already stated that minor things were changed or cut in this original post. It's fun to debate with those of you who are respectful and have a normally functioning brain.
By far the most common argument I'm seeing is "ON DISC DLC!!! That proves you wrong!". But it doesn't. Not only is it not unheard of for games to ship with on disc DLC, but the argument itself holds no validity. There is no proof that content has been cut and set up as future DLC. I've looked through all of your posts, including the ones made by monkeys, and I still need to watch/skim through a 35 minute video (which I'll get to).

Are you serious? Don't get me wrong I enjoy destiny and still play quite a bit. But no game is what was "promised". Look at any games beta or E3 game play it's never the same.
-
But is Destiny the Prince That Was Promised?
-
2 AntwortenDestiny is a good game, that could have been much much better.

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von DatFruit: 3/12/2015 2:21:31 AMWhat about how the reef tower was shown? Or that cutscene of the rings of Saturn and of mercury? Or of your guardian coming to earth after he was well equipped instead of being revived after being dead for awhile, or of the faction wars shown or the raid that was called something of darkness I can't remember? They were advertising destiny, not destiny 2/3/4/5 or whatever so it was misleading and what we got isn't what was promised. We were promised an epic story, not a bunch of grimoire cards. Edit: there was also that forest where you can see a guardian walking up the staircase. That was gameplay cut from the game that we'll end up seeing through dlc or future releases of the destiny franchise most likely.

False advertising. Done
-
Except we saw footage pre-release that turned out to be DLC content.

5 AntwortenIn one of the trailers, the player is seen to be walking in a reef social area. This area is supposed to come out in april. There is no concrete evidence, its just nit picks here and there. Bungie have already proved that the are ready to lie to keep players in the game. Ie deej said in on of his live streams that, "No, Xur isn't RNG. There are a couple of people how decide what is he selling. Sadly, I'm not one of these people." Then he tries to wing it and says later that XUR is RNG. There is no proof for either side, your proof is just quotes from Bungie which, IMO, aren't reliable.

Forgot the satire lol

1 AntwortenJudging from this post, I doubt you wear clothes.

1 AntwortenI'd like to have a rational conversation with you OP. As regards your thought that mention that Deej said that 404architet was a troll, what makes you think that Deej is telling the truth? People lie all the time, especially to save face. It is literally just his word against 404's. And I think the reason people choose to believe 404's story whether it's true or not is because it makes sense. Im sure we all were let down in one way or another when we first got our hands on Destiny, and his "explanation", whether true or false, gives us hope that Destiny one day will be the game we were showed and fell in love with. Your thoughts?
-
6 AntwortenI love the "it's a 10 year project defence" BULLSHIT all this means is they want to sell you shit for the next 10 years. And if all the dlc are like the last on this game isn't gonna last 2 years haha especially if bungie thinks the while player base I'd going to buy comet for 60 bucks lol
-
Yes. They promised to release a game called "Destiny". A game called "Destiny" was released. They succeeded in fulfilling that promise.
-
There was supposed to be trading and gambling. Also, we were supposed to have open worlds.
-
Still barking up that old tree eh?
-
2 AntwortenBearbeitet von DamnImCam: 3/12/2015 2:58:45 AMThe only reason why we play this game still is because most of us are trying to get something in this game. Whether it would be the Ghally or maybe new raid gear.
-
5 AntwortenBecause in the first weeks of the game people glitched into HUGE areas not part of the game as we got it. Proof.
-
2 AntwortenYour post is very long so I'm sorry I could read it all just skimmed it but honestly just playing this game I get the feeling it was cut dlc or at least it was withheld. Nothing will sway me just like nothing will sway you to believe that bungie did that. A lot People don't like deej because of his attitude that's what I gathered anyway. As far as being gullible, you could make the point taking the word of developers on said game is being gullible. It's not like if they did something that the people would be unhappy with they would be upfront with it.
-
Well regarding on-disc DLC; you could wall hack into several areas that ended up serving as locations in TDB. Specifically the Seraphim Vault and the Jovian Complex. I'm sure all the other ones will be used eventually as well. I'm looking at you King's Watch/Traitors Ketch/Other not as cool sounding ones.
-
DLC content being on the disc only tells you that they put it there to be easily unlocked when they release it. As far as paying money for the DLC, it seems like most of you resent the idea because you feel like it should have been on the initial release originally. I get it, but it wasn't released with the final game and they clearly meant for it to be DLC so that's just something we have to deal with if you plan on continuing to play the game.

Bearbeitet von RebornV3: 3/12/2015 2:56:28 AMIf you look closer at the 2013 vidocs you can tell Destiny isn't close to the game we were promised in my opinion its almost a different game then the Destiny we got also there seems too be some truth from that reddit post its obvious that a lot was changed less than a year before the game came out if you look at anything between 2013 and E3 2014 its sad really when you take it all in the game we should have had.
-
Welcome to 6 months ago. This topic is dead
-
Content was cut for DLC and because last gen consoles couldn't handle it all. hope they make their next game current gen only and stop working with activision. THEN it'll be the game they promised us
-
3 AntwortenThe official destiny release trailers showed story scenes that are not even in the game. Also couple if the developers who made destiny made a video of how there was trading and even gambling at one point

way too much bs to read. prob means ur a drama queen

Bearbeitet von Skinnyhippo1234: 3/12/2015 2:42:30 AMA lot of what this guy says has reason to be assumed. Definitely worth the watch if you have time and I would recommend checking out more of this guys videos

I like Destiny. I don't like bungie "fixing" what isn't broken and ignoring the true glitches that cause pain and anger when playing.
