I never played the game before. Should I rent it?

1 ReplyI was Playing it on Legendary and then suddenly I realized I wasn't having fun and so I brought it down to easy so I could blow through the levels and story to see if Legendary was even worth it. It wasn't and it was depressing and not even worth another play through.

Edited by Sentra: 5/18/2014 8:38:39 PMJust the campaign? The entire game was a massive pile of crap, not just the campaign.
-
It was way better than ODST & Reach but CE still has the best campaign hands down!
-
Had the strongest story since Halo 2. Also was fun to play. The only thing that bugged me about it was the invisible barriers and somewhat linearity.
-
Didnt care for it. Should have ended with reach.

Edited by Smarkdow: 9/18/2013 4:12:08 AMYes, it was. It was a hammy, forgettable, incoherent mess of a story. It is unfortunate that 343 decided to change the dynamic of Master Chief and Cortana's relationship into one of a cliche and cheesy love story. There was nothing memorable or brilliant about it. And the fact that you needed to read each and every single novel and comic, watch every single anime and live-action series, and sacrifice your first-born child in order to somewhat understand the plot of the game was just pure bad storytelling. The antagonist is a moron; the supporting characters are morons; the whole story was written by morons. You're welcome.

17 RepliesEdited by omg a bannana: 5/18/2014 2:13:52 AMFighting the same 5 enemies throughout the entire game, the only strategy is to shoot stuff in the head, story progresses by pushing buttons, Master Chief is immune the the bad guys super weapon(amazing story telling right here) space magic ending, bad guy some how survives death(amazing story telling again), new enemies are bullet sponges and are boring to fight. No interesting characters besides Chief and Cortana. I thought it was mediocre. Oh I've already replied to this thread.

Game was good except for the ending.
-
No, but the multiplayer experience was lacking.
-
Well, it was better than Reach... Actually, I don't know. It wasn't my favorite, but I wouldn't say it was bad.
-
3 RepliesGood idea, didn't work. Covenant were made to look like bitches, Infinity didn't feel as useful as it should've, and Palmer... oh, Jesus, Palmer. That Mary Sue should've been killed before she and the Chief could get back to the ship. I even have more respect for Del Rio than I do Palmer, and Del Rio couldn't captain a McDonald's.

On it's own it's not terrible. Compared to past Halo's, it's bad.
-
No. Story wise, it wasnt that great. Graphically and gameplay wise, I enjoyed it alot.
-
3 RepliesTo me Halo 4s campaign was ok to me the time lapses between missions were to big and the cut scenes were to lovie dovie for me and the ending is sorta of stupid I mean even chief can't survive a nuke and the Spartans were pretty much useless against the hunters and covies with their stupid .65 magnums
-
24 RepliesYes, gameplay was boring and repetitive and the story was almost non-existent.
-
No, it wasn't that bad. When compared to most other FPS games out there, it's awesome. But when compared to the campaigns of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 3: ODST, it was sub-par.

Edited by adamj004: 9/14/2013 2:29:38 PMIt was the first Halo game that I actually did not care for the characters of cortana and master chief and certainly did not care for the rest of the characters. And with this installment being entirely forerunner focused it was a let down imo, the didact for one was a terrible character and an awful antagonists and he looked awful.

No. Just nothing compared to the rest. Never replayed it for fun once.
-
No. People just like to bitch about the newest thing, which includes 343. It was actually probably the best plot in a Halo since H2. The art and audio were also sublime. Gameplay was a slight let-down, mind, but it still felt better as a player than Reach's brown and bloom snorefest. Harder scifi. <3

3 RepliesDefine "that bad." Bad as compared to what? I certainly thought it was great. I mean, 343 cut a lot of corners and certainly have no concept of the phrase 'attention to detail,' and they're incredibly lazy with a lot of things... but the story was excellent and the gameplay was still fun overall.

1 ReplyYes, it was boring and nonsensical.

Best in the series. But from a presentation standpoint, I really enjoyed Reach.
-
No. It's one of the best out of all of the games.
