Yesterday I have played control in the crucible, and most of the players I have encountered were pretty good, like well beyond average, or even highly skilled, some were almost inhuman, like I couldn't get any kills at all
I would like to run some of what I have seen by you guys, and I am genuinely interested to hear what you think, is it possibly cheating, or is it a "you are too late to the party/ git gud" kind of thing? 😂
They were really organized, had uncanny battle awareness, knew all the spawn locations, and were killing us, as we respawned, they were capturing zones at very rapid speed, had guns at the ready at all the entrance points to the zone capture locations, they were extremely oppressive, and didn't miss, not even once, or were even slightly off, their reaction speeds were incredible, they dealt very high lethal damage in an extremely short period of time, and though I doubt they were communicating, it almost seemed as if they were, the coordination was just unbelievable, they would also disperse, and come from various places and kill you, they played aggresively, and were untouchable
They weren't just playing casual like I am, it was as if these guys were paid to do this for a living, almost as if they were trained assassins or soldiers, being sent to an area to do wet work 😅, like national tournament e-sports level, not normal people, for instance: they would wait outside of a corner, and once in sight, will shoot at you, damage you, then very quickly disengage and retreat, after you commit and press forward, only for another one at the ready to pop out synchronistically in exchange, and finish you off
Another thing that I find shocking, is that the speed by which some of them turn, jump and pan the camera/ manoeuvre at close proximity, they are very difficult to deal with because of their unusual movement, these types of sharp movements are only possible on a mouse and keyboard, and I am on console playing with a controller, it is literally impossible to move the joystick that fast, that accurate, and that sharply in such a short period of time, and never be even slightly off, also the travel distance required to move the view so sharply and quickly is quite great, but the thing is, it doesn't feel like they were cheating, but I don't know how that is possible either, it will literally break your controller, if your movement is that frequent and violent
Another thing that I have noticed, is that they are all at level 3, but they are not new accounts, based on their emblem's achievements/ triumphs when you hover over their name
So what do you think?
PS: Bungie, if you are reading this, can you please make titan's damage resistance during the fist of havoc super on par with the rest of us?

They are like a robotic assasin squad and their weapons are one shot wonders, it is really awful, you wait 30min to get in to a game and then you are slaughtered in seconds

1 ReplyAgreed. I truly think there is a reduced\no damage cheat in trials.

1 ReplyI think you're perceptive, observant, and have the aptitude to do the things you perceive as inhumanly possible within the confines of Crucible... if given the time and assuming you possessed the passion to do so with the current decline of the game. Simply by the fact that your assumption allowed for anything beyond "they must have been cheating" you are already not limited in the same way as the vast majority of pvp players, past and present. Most people never challenge themselves to find the solution to constraints that don't seem to hinder their adversaries. It's the "cheating" that has given them an unfair advantage. This absolves the person from ever having to recognize the actions they put in that resulted in the undesirable outcome of a loss. I think most people don't have a high refresh rate monitor or high speed internet. I think most never invested in a controller with paddles or response curve options. None of these things are "cheating" per se, but provide an advantage. By not spending the money you don't give yourself the best possible competitive advantage. This is long before we consider the meta, your stat distribution, the basic limits and strengths of your class/subclass, and the perks on your weapons. Someone that has their set up proper has to put in a lot less effort than someone that's trying to force their thing to work. It's not to say the off meta person with a crap TV can't beat the person that has everything to their benefit, but then you consider the variables you metion and the divide seems impossible to overcome to most. So they come to the conclusion the person was cheating. I don't know what game you're referencing and didn't go through the history of your matches from a couple days ago, so who is to say whether you experienced cheaters? But you seem to have a keen eye and you're asking how it was possible they have achieved this level of mastery, and that puts you on a far better path than most of the people in the forums that choose to speak on such things.

2 RepliesEvery time I complain about cheating, I'm clobbered with 'you're on console! it's not cheating but skilled players.' I agree cheating on console is harder but believe it still happens. I played control yesterday. In one match, there's a player hitting crits every time with mida mini tool (the smg, not mida multi tool) from across the map. They usually play on the edge of the map and move around to different areas to not get ganged up on. This is probably the most common complaint. Someone hitting all crits with some close range weapon but doing it from long distance. I also question how someone can get a super or heavy ammo early in the game. I've played games where someone will only use hammerhead or outrageous fortune or similar weapons the entire time. It doesn't happen often but enough to not want to play pvp for a while. Normally when I'm bored with pve, like now.

I think it's a bit of both 🤔 Player counts are very low so most of the teams you will face are the hardcore pvp players and also cheaters, console is flooded with "devices" that "enhance" your play style and pc... Well no need to go into that lol.

As a player who heavily enjoyed Crucible and spends more time in it than PVE modes, this is a big reason why I avoid Trials like the plague itself. Both Trials and Crucible (now) are either full of completely cracked out dudes who live in their mom's basement and never go outside OR they are absolutely cheating and don't give a single crap if you're just trying to have a casual good time playing some PVP. I also had to learn the hard way of finding out that everyone was running stupidly high health stats with the new-ish Armor update that I was completely unaware of (I stopped playing for a bit during the Lightfall DLC) and then had to adapt and grind my way to get my armor near or as close as possible to 200 health stats just recently. But even then, it still feels like a minimal buff compared to having hardly any stats in health in the first place. Now in the case of recently with player numbers being considerably lower, I often would go up against some of the same people who wrecked me a few games prior and unfortunately the matchmaking is just picking up anybody at this point regardless of skill or rank. You will get very laggy players that are on the other end of the country and or people who think Control is primarily about getting the most kills with a shotgun or handcannon and COMPLETELY ignoring the objective of the gamemode. It's a bit of a mess but it's the mess we are left with at the moment until Marathon (hopefully) dies off. I love Crucible but it's starting to have it's toll with the options we have left right now.

1 ReplyEdited by longevity: 3/12/2026 5:42:37 PMfirst thing is just bail when you're in an obvious landslide loss, no need to stay in a match wasting your time because of bungie's incredibly bad matchmaker yes the game has been losing a ton of casual pvp players due to a much higher ratio of premades coordinating over voice. You are right that you can tell the difference in basically 3 groups: premades of cheaters using hardware aimbots on console premades of cheaters using mice and macro movement tech on console premades of veteran sweats marathon had cheaters on day one, literally day one, after bungie promised they had a new config that would control cheating there will also be an endless debate about mice vs controller on consoles, they really need to be in separate matchmaking pools because mice players have a crazy advantage on console you can tell if someone is using macros on their movement pretty easily, which comes from using a device - some people only use that device to use a playstation controller on xbox or to help with disabilities - but a lot of players use it for the movement macros and to get rid of recoil overall the biggest things to be used to separate players in matchmaking would be movement tech and mice vs controller, after that it would be k'd ratios in close combat right now they go almost entirely with k'd ratio, if you let your k'd ratio tank for 2-3 matches you'll get matched against some more casual players. They don't separate close range vs long range k/d ratios, as anyone can camp lanes and objectives for a high k'd, but they'll just punish you for doing so by matching you against players that are way better than you - either straight up or because of cheating you'll get constant sweats even if you lose every match but have a high k/d ratio don't forget the first tip, don't waste time sitting in landslide losses, especially when they are obviously cheating

so yesterday I ended up playing a lot of Control... more than I expected because it was actually great. Great matches (not all Ws but always felt effective.. close matches usually)... with the heck of a lot of weapons I was testing (below in spolier)
(even a waking vigil was effective!... crisis inverted was not bad.. still some hit registration issuies.. but not bad.. claws of the wolf good.. boudica, givers blessing, breachlight, high albedo, peacebond and even cantata good... oh and horrors least excellent for the 1st time)
...but there were 2 games that I clearly recall were off... almost exactly as you described... a team moving 10x faster... no hitting them.. coordinated at spawn points... but I also inspected and they didn't seem stacked... left that match... luckily it was the only one like that... the other game was a simple unbalance compared to that... if PVP goes like yesterday though overall this game has new life for me... but if its more of the 2nd situation then we have not made progress... but at least yesterday this game was kickin -
5 RepliesBoth? Two days ago I matched in Control a guy who didn't miss, sniper + SMG, way beyond the high skill ceiling. Checked his Trials records; never reached 1.0 K/D in any season before, his Avg probably being around 0.80, but this season his K/D is 2.75, and last week alone well over 4... Yeah quite the "glow-up".

1 ReplyEdited by NotCreative123: 3/12/2026 9:33:33 PMIt is hard to distinguish between really good players and players who are using banned 3rd party hardware. Plus, even when players are cheating, not all cheaters are equal. When a "good" player cheats, you REALLY feel it. I personally can't stand cheating. It frustrates the heck out of me. Two things get me through the frustration. 1) I still have a chance to win against most cheaters on console. The cheats are not impactful enough to guarantee a win. 2) I can't do anything about it except report them. So I try not to stress about things I can't control. So even in cases where I KNOW the other team is cheating... I still have fun. Destiny PVP is still fun, and cheaters are some of the best players in the game, so its fun to get games against them. Finally.. the matchmaking is probably grabbing anyone it can, regardless of skill. If you are used to being in low-skill lobbies, you probably will need some time to adjust to the pacing of better players.

A little mix of both
