I decided to give Marathon a shot, and it gave me some randomized name. I figured it was just some playtest thing, but when I opened Destiny 2 a few days later it told me my name was changed to that randomized one.
I went to my profile to fix it, but it says "you can only change your Bungie name ONE TIME."
Like, seriously? I decided to give that game a chance, and my reward is being forced to burn a name change that I only have one of?
Completely unacceptable, please provide somewhere for me to send my info and revert the name change that I didn't ask for.

the change of the game alias is related to the unified database for saving the game profile <<bungie.net >> like in Destiny 2, like in Marathon, it's one single. (waiting for them to come up with a nickname separate from the two games)

Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. We've received numerous reports of name changes prompted by the Server Slam, and are investigating further. That said, please reach out to us via this contact form and select "Bungie Name was changed" as the reason for your request.
"you can only change your Bungie name ONE TIME."
That means you have a name change token, the text hasn't been updated to account for the fact people now have multiple. If you cannot change it back yourself and it isn't something that goes against the CoC or Name Policy then fill in the appeal form located on this page by using 'Submit Request' and make sure you select 'Bungie name was changed' under 'What type of content restriction are you appealing?'.

Edited by Crisidelm: 3/3/2026 1:39:06 PMThat message is bugged, it doesn't necessarily mean that you only have one name change available left. It just means that you can still change it at least once.
