*Your vision.
Collecting set bonuses.
By collecting full sets of legendary armor... per character, not account-based.
+1 for T4
+2 for T5
Universal stat tuning mod.
So,
1. Stat ranges for T4 & T5
2. a tuning slot that allows +5 w no deficit, making exotics + 2 net stats better.
3. A mod slot for collected set bonuses.
How would you get T4 & T5 armor?
You could upgrade T3.
You could get T4 & T5 drops.
How would you upgrade it?
"Motes of Power".
It would take 1 Mote of Power to ascend 1 Tier.
How would you get Motes of Power?
Exotic Orders, Xur, & Rahool. Rare drops in endgame activities... Pinnacle Ops GM and Ultimate. Raid and Dungeons with Feats activated. Competetive Crucible at higher ranks... and from legit flawless runs in Trials.
Community event tracks/rewards.
2 in the bonus Season pass ranks, 101... 110.
Xur & Rahool would have a weekly lockout... but sometimes Xur would offer 1 for 77 strange coins. Otherwise you would use Pinnacle Ciphers. 10 per, 1 per week per vendor. So, you would need 20 pinnacle ciphers.
Pinnacle Ciphers should drop from GMs, Dungeons, Conquests on first clear starting w Master, Raids, Pinnacle Portal activities Master and above.
Obviously, the quantity and frequency would scale based on the difficulty and activity.
"Minor" Motes of Power.
This is how we upgrade our legendary armor and weapons.
5 to upgrade a Tier.
From Legendary orders & rare drops.
You could exchange 10 plus a tax, glimmer & what have you... with Rahool for 1 Mote of Power.
Or 10 ciphers on weekly lockout.
Enhanced Set Bonuses.
How?
Every 4 piece set bonus would enhance the 2 piece effect.
If you ran a Tier 5 exotic, and ran +2... then +4, it would enhance both the 2 piece and 4 piece effects.
That's my* vision for Exotic Armor 3.0.
T4 exotics would allow for forgiveness.
T5s... ultimate min-maxing and character development.
Three 2s
or
Two 2s and One 4.
@Bungie... for your consideration, please and thank you.
😇👍💠
Oh... T4 & T5 exotic armor drops would happen in the wild, old school 😉.

I just wish we could have a set of armor in which we could implement any set bonus we have collected in game. During Halloween we had the mask that let us use any set bonus for it that guardians collected thus far. In essence we as players would then logically need just 6 armor sets for each character, one for bulwark, grenadier, brawler, paragon, specialist, and gunner. Each set would have the capability of equipping any of the armor set bonuses from past and future sets after collection. This would alleviate the dire issue with vault space for players who want to have these armor sets saved for builds across all 3 characters. Your idea for enhanced set bonuses is nice, similar to enhanced weapon traits, but for armor. Again I've already suggested the idea of utilizing the collections as the source for players to reacquire weapons that they have earned with the rolls they want due to them unlocking access to the traits from collecting it in the first place. Using materials to pull it from collections would suffice and give players and overall endgame goal to farm every weapon and trait for them to then have easy access to them after grinding them out and save on the frustration of no vault space. I digressed a bit about weapons but the whole vault space issue is going to return inevitably, people can argue stop hoarding, but unsunsetting everything has brought that to a head and it's why crafting was also created to battle this in the first place. Now with armor sets it's beginning to recreate that trend of hoarding, and FOMO of these sets has already taken place to the point players realize that these sets will eventually be unfarmable in the future. Most of the old sets like Bushido, and smoke jumper and the weapons of EoF Launch and ash of iron gear no longer being relevant or sunsetted has caused issues for the community that FOMO is not what they wanted and where can they reacquire this stuff. I think Kepler should have all this loot put into focus at the altar and activities on Kepler like weekly missions and sieve should allow players to still earn this loot despite it being out of the loot pools of renegades. A lot of minor details can lead to a lot more frustrated players in the community who may want to use specific weapons and set bonuses for builds they want to use. Your idea is good but in the long run of things there's a lot that can cause issues later on that should be addressed in order for those ideas to work even better. Hope you don't take this as me throwing shade at your idea, it's very well thought out and I like it, but many other things can be problematic for the grand scheme of things. There is bloat in destiny and there is ways to fix it, the vault filters and more space is great, but for those who play all 3 characters, have exotics that are 65-70 stat saved for each due to no longer being able to grind for them like prior, and for weapons no longer easily available to be attained, these are huge issues. We need armor sets similar to the Halloween event mask, it makes sense.

1 ReplyI like this concept. Could you elaborate on point 3? (Mod slots for collected set bonuses.) Everything else makes super sense; I just don’t get what you’re getting at with that one.

Careful mate. Bungie might steal your idea, make it worse, and sell it as a “legacy experience”
