It def feels weird until you remember that you literally only need 100 points for the helmet. Thats 2 top 10% scores. Not sure what other combinations would get you there.
I can understand not wanting to play if you aren’t above 500 light though. Since for some goofy reason light level is tied to score.

Can't earn top ten scores through matchmaking though. Immediately makes it impossible for a lot of players.

1. Many players don’t even have Grandmaster difficulty unlocked (I think the unlock is tied to the resetting Guardian ranks, and I never bothered to complete the Edge of Fate intro quest). 2.There’s no point to the casual player trying to get their score in PvP, as so far multiple matches of “Cutting Edge Zone Control”with at least one match resulting in me being in second place on the winning team has me with a single qualifying point. I’ll repeat that a little plainer; multiple matches played, but just ONE POINT TOTAL for the Event PvP. Unless you’re playing like an absolute Ghost Recon Spec Ops (tryhard noobstomper) there is absolutely no way to get a decent enough score in PvP. 3. Casual matchmade players in the Coil or Proving Grounds (-blam- the Salt Mines) will never score anywhere close to enough to compete with the private fireteams at max level pumping modifiers like nitrous oxide. I get that Bungie wants to reward their most dedicated players, and that would be absolutely fine… if the rest of the event didn’t feel like it was hardcore denying casual players even a CHANCE at the cool Helmet ornament.

some players can't perform at master level activities at all, so no amount of failed runs will earn you anything. The basic idea that the only way to progress is by playing the hardest game modes is idiocy. Many players can't and have just walked away. This even is only making it worse not better. I will not even log in to get the gear box, just not worth it.

Yeah except you lose points if you aren’t able to play all day long. I went from 130 to 110 in less than 12 hrs because I can’t sit there all day long farming the same crap over and over again.
-
Technically your scores stay the same it’s just other peeps passing you up. But yea I feel you. I know I’ll have to put up a better salt mines score at some point.
-
Lmao yeah now I’m back down to 1 point smh.
-
Yeah sadly I just don’t have time for all that. The ornament is sick but I’m not stressing myself just to get knocked down every day. Because I have a life outside of the game.
-
Seems that the best option is to run it next week.
-
Does it reset weekly?
-
I don’t see how it can reset at all. If it does then are they adding 2 weeks of scores? It seems it’s your best score for two weeks so it should go all the way to next week and points are only replaced by you getting a higher score or others score higher which reduces your placement.
