Divinity needs a buff to its baseline usability to balance out all the nerfs it's gotten over the past year

Divinity has 1 niche job and that's debuffing bosses for dps and occasionally overload champions. So with all the nerfs it's gotten to its debuff ability it needs a buff to its baseline functionality so it's less of a niche used weapon. My thoughts: 1. Buff base non-crit damage and let it jolt targets. This would give it ad clear potential and make up for the fact that it's base damage is weaker than most legendary trave Rifles. 2. Let the arc cage explode more frequently, and the explosion creates an arc blinding effect. This would buff it's dps and make it more useful against high health targets like champions, while also letting it stun both unstoppables and overloads. 3. Greatly increase crit damage and precision kills create arc explosions and refund ammo. All of these options would let you use Divinity in more rolls and make it more viable for casual content.

  • Hardly changes anything. Only pc players were able to spam click the divinity cage to make it appear. Now divinity becomes a dedicated role without the trick spam gimmicks.

  • The more I read this nerf, the less I care about it. This just increases the time for cage to spawn to increase from around 0.48s to around 0.84s (75% increase in ammo to start cage). As long as you don’t miss, this isn’t going to be an issue. I can think of about 3-4 bosses this is going to be annoying on due to how much they move/how abrupt: Summumah (Ghosts final boss), Rhulk, Nezarec, and maybe Ir Yut. Since they’re not adjusting feathering, I don’t think this will be an issue on slower bosses.

  • Yeah now the cage went from appearing in less than a second to even more less of a second, the are making it take 75% longer to apply but 75% more of instant is still instant

  • You won't get your way. Divinity helps the casuals to much. And the hardcore want content gatekept.

        This new nerf won’t even be noticeable. It currently takes 8 bullets to get the cage up. After the nerf it will take 14 bullets the thing shoots so fast you won’t even notice.

      • make it a heavy weapon while making queen breaker an energy weapon.. swap them also maybe make the bubble linger also make queen breaker fire instantly instead of needing a charge up.. the enemies dont seem to need to charge it up +this is a massive buff to its useability as its basically sniper at that point kinda the same understanding that 1k voices is a fusion

        Divinity should have a cost for its use and I am fine with it dealing low damage and imo it shouldn't even 'weaken' the target - We have a fireteam for a reason, the debuff can come from another guardian. Where is the fun of fireteam coordination when single pieces do too much by themselves? We'd still use it on Rhulk or tormentors because there is still gain over trying to hit these swift enemies the normal way. I would have just removed the weaken instead and this would not have changed the places of its use anywhere.

        • just want a catalyst that 1 increases the reserves to 999 as masterwork stat 2 to deal massive damage from the div cage explosion on OVERLOAD champions and either wipe them out in GM or leave them 1 shot. like peregrine, but specifically to be able to say frick you teleporting overloads. i dont mind the nerf to cage uptime if we get more ammo reserves so i don't have to keep swapping arc reserves chestpiece for more ammo.

            Final Shape is gonna be full of tormentors and the new raid would be trivialized probably if they didn't nerf it. Plenty other things to use, Deterministic Chaos is even getting a buff. Tractor will still exist too. Div just removes the need to hit your crits which just trivializes tormentors and likely the majority of the Dread.

            • This is just OP I don’t understand or get why people just want the most overpowered weapons ever. I’m not saying the game has to be as difficult as Darksouls or other souls like games. That being said, the game shouldn’t be brain dead either. Players should be rewarded for being skilled and capable, and not because they have a weapon. By reward, I mean bigger damage number. Weapons should also be given to you, but they should round out and further complete your arsenal as opposed to being the best of the best. Vex Mythoclast is a perfect example. What would be the point of playing the game if you can just become the best player by having a single weapon. The reason why Day 1s are so popular is because they are a challenge, but having a weapon be as good and powerful as you suggested Div become, you make that challenge disingenuous. It would further choke and kill the game That’s not saying that exotics can’t be buffed, reworked, or otherwise made powerful. Just look at how they buffed Nighthawk, but unlike the buff you suggested to Divinity, it doesn’t completely destroy the meta. There are still exotics that compete with it, most especially being Star Eaters. Furthermore, it is limited in overall effectiveness because it’s forced to a singular class. An Exotic filling out a Niche is a good thing, because it means that the exotic is useful, and by extension, balanced. Exotics that don’t fill out a niche, nor have any usability end up being the exotics you store in the vault. Promethium Spurs are a perfect example. They have no usable niche.

              • As long as it doesn't become a mega-super that it used to be. I have an idea: • Changed Divinity from special to heavy ammo • Damage has been scaled to compensate this change • Divinity grants a 15% weakness debuff that always stacks. • This is designed to work in tandem with supers like Deadfall instead of competing with them like it does now.
