The auto rifle change was justified

You can't change my mind on this. The damage increases has shaken up the meta and finally broken the hold handcannons have had on the Crucible. Months of enduring it. Welcome to the new season. This is the change we needed. P.S. they work well in PvE too. Don't forget that.

  • I agree they are finally useful. To be a dick to all those complaining as they have been to me about fusion rifles. Just move out of the way!

  • Just because the meta is shaken up doesn't mean it's better. I would rather have a hc meta and a sniper nerf would be nice.

    • Honestly they didn't need a buff to precision damage just body shot the rate they drop people now for 600s especially hard light with no damage drop off is a hair too fast the only weapons that should be that fast are last word, side arms and smgs.

        Welcome to hard light meta haha have fun melting people in half a second and not being able to hide in cover. There was obviously no testing involved in that buff. They need to increase the damage of pulses, 140, 110 hand cannons and scouts at short range.

      • Auto rifles perform poorly in air and in peek shooting situations and as such have a much lower skill ceiling than pulses or hand cannons. Auto rifle metas are for players who haven’t developed cover useage or movement skills in destiny. I would 100% prefer a spare rations meta where players actually have to move, and the full extent of your ability to play the game is tested rather than this meta where it’s just teams holding hands and mag dumping hard light at chokepoints with their feet planted in rifts

        • It was justified but I dont think they needed a damage buff. They needed a hit registration and accuracy buff. The time to kill is kind of baffling. And I've used scathelock all last season, I'm not against the buff. I just think they went in the wrong direction

          • Yep, haven't seen a spare rations in Crucible yet, and it feels so dam good to kill shotgun monkeys with an auto rifle. Uriels Gift with Kill clip is very enjoyable

Easy to avoid but when there’s 3 or more of them it’s just too bright and loud as -blam!-. Lines zipping everywhere.

                • Agreed 100%. It felt really nice not needing 2 full clips to eat up a standard yellow bar bad guy (not a 3 bar, a single yellow bar) like literally every other weapon in this game. Finally, can appreciate my braytech werewolf and the raid auto my friends made fun of me for because I decided to keep it.

                  • I’d recommend them reeling it back a little bit. I like seeing a meta mixup but AR metas get stale [i]really[/i] quick. Year 1 was gross. Autos remove a lot of the nuances of engagements; precision, movement and placement, effectively lowering the skill ceiling of the game. I love that there’s a weapon class that helps lower skilled players compete but they shouldn’t be so strong that they neuter the entire sandbox.

                      • I hate handcannons. They're made of a lightweight plastic material and they sound like garbage. I'm so glad I dont have to fight them anymore in pvp

                          • Handcannon users actually need to git gud and peek shoot. While a autorifle kills faster but needs to be out in the open the whole time. It’s balanced.

                            • Best part? The best auto frame right now (adaptive) has the same optimal ttk that aggressive pulses have had for the past 6 months (0.7, compared to 0.72). You haven't seen pulses anywhere the past months. So nobody's been complaining about them. Autos are only as good as pulses right now, or arguably a little less so since they have less effective range. I strongly think we'll see the same thing with autos as we did with pulses in SK launch. Couple weeks usage spike and then hand cannons creep back. Just look at Frostbolt's new review on the Tommy gun. In the first 2 minutes he said (pseudo quote) "... it's not that good since people disengage / slide to cover before you kill them". The Tommy gun is a 720 rpm that also got a good buff, they kill almost as fast as adaptive autos and faster than 150 hand cannons. And a top skill-bracket player still said that. [i]Hand cannons will be back in full, give it 3-4 weeks.[/i]

                              • They sucked previously but now it’s all I’m seeing really. It’s just rotate strict metas over and over again. This isn’t balance. This is just shifts. They have never found balance. Change my mind.

                                • They are practicaly like machine Guns now they have no recoil and have highest ttk really balanced... Okey i have no problem with damage but at least reduce the flinch and range and it will be good
