YOU CAN SHOOT THROUGH BANNER SHIELD
Why do some people not understand that? People get mad at me and tell me to stop blocking their dps! (It's always hunters who complain about my shield)
And the shield is useless in raids. y tho
Edit: when I say blocking DPS I dont mean im not shooting a gun. The people im talking about made it very clear that they mean i am blocking their bullets.
Edit Edit: Yeah a lot of people say that Banner Shield does not make up for losing one DPS person. That needs to change. Or maybe Bungie didn't want it to be a raid super?

This is pretty simple math people, losing one person = -100% DPS for one fireteam member, however you buff 5 other people for 25%. 25 X 5 = 125% as a result of losing that DPS from one member, meaning your team does 25% more damage overall. Plus you get protection and orbs meaning more supers and no flinch that might make you miss a crit. Edit: Added some spacing to make things match up better

While I'm not defending people who don't understand how banner shield works, I think the biggest issue is that it is rarely a net dps gain. There are very few fights where the whole team can stand and shoot freely in one spot, not to mention the loss of 1/6 of your damage output before the amplification.

The only encounter i can think this would be useful on is Riven if you're doing it legit. Even then, it's a toss-up. I suppose it could be useful on Kalli. Shuro Chi's dps phases are too short to get good use out of it. The Ogre, well, we already have 2 strats that work basically 100% of the time. I don't think the Vault needs an explanation. In SotP, you'd only have the team behind it for a short time before you're separated by the phases and your real DPS doesn't even start until then. EoW is an easy one-phase with Whisper. Callus is an easy one-phase.

As titan main i look at hunter with this prespective: All the super they have are useful (probably except 1 or 2) All super give vast amount of DPS(spetral,Golden gun,Arc staff etc) or do stuff like the tether (we got useless bubble, low DPS forms of supers even thunder crash is shait....) Spectral blades(after nerf a lot more balanced) run around invisible with one melee kill super that never ends. Useful exotic armor pieces that you can create builds around(titans have exactly 5 useful exotic armors even those are limited) Super Range you ask? off the chart Smoke grenades that tag's enemy's or can make you invisible Dodging makes you invisible or cant trigger health regen(cant remember but i know that some skill trees has some dodging perks) Enhanced radar Better mobility (this is why you say you are squishy because you have better mobility) Melee ability kills faster than titan ability (we need 2 and sometimes a bit of help form a bullet, go head to head with hunter or warlock gets trashed aren't titan's supposed to be the strong one of the bunch? Pull titan super in pvp get shut down in 5 seconds from gun fire) Lets no forget that titan melee hit registering is just as consistent as the quality of work Bungie produces atm.... On top of all this(and much more) they actually look cool and have nice armor not like the shait medieval age looking /bucket with holes for the arms crap armor we get(titan took cortisol for a year got bloated as F, drawn by a 3 year old while falling asleep( What the heck are these Hunters complaining about??? Please show me where is the hunter inferior to any titan go head i will wait....

A cool buff to it would be: Bannersheild now absorbs incoming damage and amplifies ally damage even more. Damage dealt to bannershield increases ally damage when shooting through it. Capping out at say 50% increase. Additional 25% to the base damage increase. Bannershield now increases duration based on number of allies within radius of bannershield. 2 allies- additional 3 seconds(fireteam of 3) 3 allies- additional 5 seconds(fireteam of 4 5 allies- additional 7 seconds( fireteam of 6) With a buff like this, bannershield could become comparable to tether and well of radiance.

31 RepliesIts not useless people are just dumb. They say it isn't worth it but it gives 25% increase so they go to their crutch excuse well the person isn't participating so its not worth it, wrong. Sleeper does 300k without bouncing x6 guardians which is 1,800,000 dps. 25% of 300k is 75k which minus 1 guardian is 1,875,000 clearly bigger than 300k with 6 guardians participating not to mention it can stack with well of radiance so the dps only increases.It doesn't impact negatively unless the team doesn't use it which is why bubble needs weapons of light back to adjust for idiots and allow the titan to participate.

(could be an exotic that also grants it to their teammates effected by the weapons of light. Also, would increase the radius of the buff). [b]Team[/b]: Gets a better buff better than 25% (that stacks when more players are rallied behind it) and receive a buff on top of weapons of light that greatly decreases their flinch and greatly increasing their weapon stability. [b]This would give Titans more of an edge in end game content over just used for Melting Point (and this can still stack with Melting Point 😉[/b]

Things to think about. To be honest, though the first time someone argued that banner shield blocked their shots, I’d give them das boot, mainly if they keep going on about it. No need to play with someone who doesn’t know the basics of character classes, and make a raid toxic because of it. Edit: why the hunter quip? We aren’t all bad 😉😝

You should only use the shield when you absolutely must survive but still do some damage at the same time. Typically, this might be the end all 'only have 30 seconds left' scenario. Otherwise it's always better to have three people shooting. The only point where you actually do more damage with the shield is when you have more than four people behind the shield (as four people at 25% buff will equate to the shield user not shooting). So, basically, only in raid settings.
