"They just don’t get it. Or they are purposefully refusing to get it, I don’t know which. I have yet to hear an answer to the question “If enhancement cores are removed from infusion, the problem will be ________.” They can’t fill in that blank with anything other than “infusion won’t be as impactful” which is a nonsense phrase that means effectively nothing at this point. But infusion continuing to rely on cores? I can fill in those blanks no problem with the fact that it results in slower leveling for casual players to the point where they want to quit. There’s less build diversity for everyone because no one wants to spend cores when gear is auto-outclassed every few drops, and the power cap keeps raising every few months leaving everything behind and making nothing worth investing in. Less masterworking. More time wasted chasing one more stupid currency in a game that already has dozens of them and an infinite amount of things to do. I can do this forever. And I feel like I have been."
Couldn't have said it better myself. This pig-headed, tone deaf approach to player feedback will end up killing this franchise, and the clueless heads at Bungie will have no one to blame but themselves. They can't hide behind Activision anymore, but they are still acting like they can.
I uninstalled Destiny from my PC when I got home from work last night. I have been extremely let down by the content of the Annual Pass and Bungie's we-hear-your-feedback-but-we-don't-care approach to the game as of late. I guess I might come back for Year 3... IF Bungie pulls their heads out of their asses!

Finally someone that understand us and is one of us. Hope this will get other news journals magazines to do a story how horrible Bungie is doing to the game. Bump

I don’t get how just dismissing their comment about meaningful infusions is just overlooked by this person. ThTs what they’ve said from the get go on why they’re there. If they leave cores in only for masterworkimg you’ll have a million of them.

Edited by GalaxySpider: 3/22/2019 4:57:59 PMHow do cores make leveling slower? That's pure nonsense. The game knows what stuff you have in your inventory. You can run around with your favourite gear and still receive higher drops as long as you don't scrap the highest item.

4 Repliesno chance for y3 for me. as far as bungie as a whole. not gonna happen.

I wish they would listen.

To me the big takeaway of this article was the notion that looking at the macro-economy of cores doesn't really speak to the day to day impact of the core system on player decisions. Maybe bungie doesn't understand how the scarcity of cores affects the play style of the players. So here is how I'm affected. - I'm not mad at cores, it is just a part of the game. I don't enjoy farming them specifically, but I don't get annoyed by it either. I just do it as I want and know light levels will come eventually either way. - I generally restrict myself to 1-2 pieces of gear per spot while I'm under max light level. I don't like to wear crap to get max light, so I use cores as I get them to keep my favorite gear moving forward. - In reaction to the core system I choose generalist gear. Rifle aim wins out over enhanced sniper rifle aim because I need to stay flexible. That means little experimentation, no trying out weird builds that might be awesome. I'm conservative and stick with what works. Same for weapons, situational stuff gets put on the back burner in favor of stuff that is always pretty good. - In prime I'm generally not using prime armor because it doesn't warrant the cores for maxing the light level. I can have good gear for prime or for everywhere else, but don't have the cores for both (acknowledging that I haven't gotten any prime gear yet that would replace existing armor on its own merits). So maybe this is the way they want players to react to core scarcity, I dunno - but at least now the info is here if they want it.

I just read it. It's about as spot on as you can get.

Edited by mdknyte: 3/22/2019 3:52:21 PMDoes anyone know if they have to show their investors or share holders or whatever that x-amount of people are logging in daily? "Cause if so, then they're not getting rid of enhancement cores since so many of us only log in at this point to level up/horde cores to be ready for the next DLC. If we didn't need to level up i wouldn't need to log in for any reason until the next DLC. 'Cause other then it being a decision like that where they have no choice, I mean even the forbes guy is baffled. It makes nooooooooo sense.

5 RepliesRight now the only reason i log in is to buy 2 cores from spider and to level up so that i'm ready for the next DLC. This is why they won't get rid of them, because it's the only reason a lot of us even log in. But WHY?! What's Bungie's reason for insisting i log in to get cores and level up to be able to play their next DLC? What if i'm so freaking bored to death of getting cores by doing the same ol boring chores like smuggling 5000 wormspores into the city without getting caught just to level up one piece of equipment that i feel it's not worth it and just don't buy/play the next DLC because i'm not leveled up enough? Would that make them happy? Why do they care if i log in every day or not? Do they think i'm going to forget about this franchise and move on to another one and not buy their next DLC if i don't log in every day to collect cores and level up? because i hate to break it to them but that's what's going to happen if they keep making me hate their game. Gears of War and other fps didn't go out of their way to make me hate their game, and i always bought the sequels because their games were fun. Enough with the having to level up by doing boring chores to get cores to be able to play their next DLC.

5 RepliesEdited by Technohydra: 3/22/2019 2:56:44 PMIt's a really simple answer: no one wants to hear it, but it's simple. In creating the investment system they did, they spent a pretty chunk of development budget. If they remove the result of it, they have to report back to investors that they just threw away their money by abandoning the system, and they don't want to do that. So they are functionally obligated to try and make it work every way possible before removing it. Their problem becomes our problem. At this point removing them would be a net positive, but it could cost them in the long run, which would end up costing us by providing less capitol for development. Kind of a no win for them at this point, because they made the wrong choice in investment systems. Cores for infusion should only ever be in the last 10 light, if even then.
