And the Gambit Meta details via the Charlemagne Bot on Discord show that the Ikelos is still the most used energy weapon since the update. Fire 3 shots then punch again to proc Trench Barrel, it's not rocket science people. Stop crying for the sake of crying. Still a beast of a weapon and the stats PROVE it.

9 RepliesHoly crap guys it was one nerf to a weapon that was stronger than every energy weapons and even most heavies. All you have to do is punch again after 3 shots now. Why is that such a catastrophic change? If you really think it's trash now, it's probs because you just suck at the game lol. The double crutch became a single crutch. Woopdy doo 😂

1 ReplyA melee to activate trench barrel takes 1 to 1.25 seconds depending on class. In that time, the ikelos sg could've fired 2.66 to 3 shots. An active trench barrel grants 50% x 3 shots, for an equivalent of an extra 1.5 shots worth of damage. 1.5 shots at the cost of 3 shots. You LOSE dps. Trench barrel is now useless except in the case of punching a boss to counter the knockback.

Keep in mind trench barrel is getting added to the perk pool for shotgun so being able to get trench barrel + rampage potentially or even just slapping a mod on it may make the perk a little too strong vs bosses, still great for melting majors though.

I’m kinda bummed about the nerf too... only just got mine. Now I’d wager the next big exotic shotgun will have the original trench barrel perk, it’ll be like the black hammer into black spindle. Legendary weapons just aren’t allowed to live up to their rarity, I guess. If it’s fun, you can’t use other fun weapons with it. Eh, at least it’s still powerful compared to other shotguns. That said, with trench barrel coming to other legendary shotguns possibly, i wonder if it’ll mean that low rate of fire with high impact will get the most out of trench barrel due to the 3 shot limitation...

9 RepliesLet's be honest guys, it was a special weapon with the power of a heavy weapon (actually better than some). Using anything else in the slot felt like crap in comparison, which made it a huge staple in the energy slot for a majority of PvE stuff. Would I consider buffing other specials? Sure, although not sure how you'd get a fusion rifle or one shot mag grenade launcher tho. But I think some people should try to look at the whole thing at another angle.

One of the major complaints pre forsaken is our guardians felt weak. Now that we’re feeling stronger you take us back a step. Instead of forcing us to use other weapons by nerfing one why don’t you, I don’t know, maybe make other weapons stronger. Going backwards is not the answer.

I am glad that they did this before black armory. I was on the fence about the annual pass. This helped me realize that there was a reason that I waited. More lost revenue right here that Activision can complain to you missing earning expectations from all of these stupid nerfs.

I enjoy the shotgun still, use it in gambit quite a bit. I like the look of it and how it works. If you don't like it try using something different.
